I was playing a La Monte Young drone piece on my school's station once and it really freaked out the sports talk show host that came after me. He thought the station was broken.
Avatar 12:53am
Wm.:

@Bronwyn which piece? I know La Monte, had him on in '97 & used to do work for him occasionally. ...I know his music well, even thought about playing one tonight, but ultimately I'm keeping selections contempo

I saw Richard Ramirez as Black Leather Jesus open for Pharmakon in Houston back in February. After all these years, the dude still brings it!

Bronwyn Bishop:

Wow that's so cool! My experimental music professor also used to know him. The piece was "For Brass."

Adam:

Radio Free Radio, the experimental show on WRCT in Pittsburgh, runs a great promo consisting of a recording of some drunken bro calling the station to complain that he turned on the radio to "get in the mood before going out to the club" and was blasted with feedback, noise, etc.
Avatar 1:02am
Wm.:

@Bronwyn Cool that you snuck that one on! John, yes I agree..have been trying get R. Ramirez to "bring it" here!

They'll have to pry my FM radio from my cold, dead claws.

@Wm judged tweeted you pic I took at BLJ show. Richard's sitting middle stage flexing sheets of metal. Behind him is someone playing keyboard. Another guy was sitting at front of stage tweaking knows while another was playing what looked like a homemade bass???

Best yet, two audience members were given what looked like cookie tins that had heavy gauge wire attached. They would move the tins about in the air, on the ground and against the speakers. Each movement caused a different sounding distortion : )

Listening, next day. @ Adam, yeah, I used to do a show on WRCT and fielded my fair share of "what is this shit?" phone calls.
