Hello. So who is the naked green lady? I get the film is “The Church.” But that can’t be Asia Argento.
Avatar 12:35am
Wm.:

Well, she's not green, just naked and enveloped by the green wings of the male-lead-turned-demon. Not Asia, just the woman from a couple who were hanging out in the church arguing about infidelity. She later gets mushed by a subway car, so, showed her.

JakeGould:

Aha! I like being older and finally realizing when someone has sex in a horror film, they die.

Lust is always punished in horror...seen It Follows?
  12:42am
JakeGould:

Nope, not yet… But head about the plot… Those ghosts of the after sex really want you to remember what you did… That “did” is the sex…

“Lady in a Cage” sounds hilarious. www.youtube.com...

Anybody watching Daredevil on Netflix? Really bloody show. Bloody good, too.
  12:51am
JakeGould:

Nope. Have been exploring the heavy industrial waterfront of Sunset Park by foot. Holy crap is that a a desolate 50 blocks!
  12:53am
JakeGould:

Justice or just-ass? That is the question.

Thanks for the opinion -- very interesting. Hmm, interesting. I don't know the comic at all.

JakeGould:

The thing is Vincent D'Onofrio is a mensch. Not a bad guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am
ikє:

Oops, I'm repeating my bland adjectives, sorry. Anyway, I liked season 2 of Arrow too, but Daredevil is better. And D'Onofrio really works for me as Fisk. He's a fascinating villain. I wasn't sure about the weird voice he's putting on at first but I grew to like it.

D'Onofrio! D'Onofrio! D'Onofrio! … Now what happens?
Avatar 1:30am
Wm.:

er, um. ... show in-joke. For the first 3-4 episodes, maybe more, they don't say "Wilson Fisk," people died for that shiiiiit.

I like this noise.

JakeGould:

Oh… Forgot. Honestly the last time I followed “The Kingpin” was back when I was 14 or 15 and pirating Atari Computer (400/800) games and I dubbed myself “The Kingpin” on BBSes back then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am
Ĩk∑:

Oh wow. BBSes. I remember those. Usenet, Gopher. I think Dave Mandl used to post his playlists on Usenet actually, before there was a Web.
  1:47am
JakeGould:

@Ike: Well this was pre-Usenet stuff. All the stuff you are mentioning is like late 1980s/early 1990s before the WWW existed. The BBSes I mention above were true “in some guy’s house” setups where you called a number with your 300-2400 baud modem and traded games. But the funny thing is this: It was so slow back then it made more sense to buy a box of 5.25" disks and just go to some guy’s house and trade games that way.
  1:48am
JakeGould:

FWIW, this was like in 1983/1984 for me as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am
Ike:

Oh, OK. I was on BBSes circa 1991 with a 2400 baud modem and each of them was in some guy's house, I'm pretty sure. And some of them maybe also offered Usenet access... didn't they?
Avatar 1:53am
tracy:

and telnet
  1:55am
JakeGould:

@Ike: Yeah, some places offered Usenet. But if it wasn’t a real ISP, then it would be kiudgy Usenet. There were places like Panix that you could dial into to get PPPoE so you could have Internet via an acoustic modem.
  1:58am
JakeGould:

And yeah, “telnet” the unsafe predecessor to SSH. Such geek2nite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am
Ike:

We didn't have too many good BBSes in our local calling area in the chicken-butt-end of Maryland, back when it cost actual money to call long distance. Even so I was on there often enough that my parents would pick up the phone and hear the Emergency Broadcast System-like noise and get pissed off because I was tying up the line. Heh.
  2:02am
JakeGould:

@Ike:Yeah, I actually have some regrets as an adult about tying up my parent’s phone line like that. Happy at least nowadays that kind of technically “either/or” decision is moot thanks to the way ISP connectivity works now. Phone or modem? Pets or food?

I think tying up a phone line is a pretty paltry regret. Forget the past. This music is going well to my drunk neighbors chopping wood.
