Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. It was a rather hurried episode to make. Basically I took the first six or seven interviews I could find and let them roll. But, people are usually pretty interesting in Union Square Park. Thanks for your pledges during the minithon. You hepled me reach my goal and that felt great. Now we just need a few coins for the realm to get FMU over the hump. It's not easy. I do hope you keep tuning in. I enjoy your comments on the Accuplaylist and the emails you send. You can always write me:

dusty@wfmu.org. You can also join the Pigeonnaires on Facebook where 251 others await your interaction! Until next time, always remember.

Hey Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Matt from Springfield:

Pigeonize your life!
Evening Clay and everyone!
Avatar 6:05pm Clay Pigeon:

joe walsh - the confessor
Avatar 6:05pm Cecile:

hola!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Kali G:

If any one reads the ISKCON Bhagavad Gita that the first interview recommended, you will find one the most misogynistic and racist book contained in religion, I know, I was once a Hare Krsna!
  6:05pm Courtney of Morris:

Took me awhile to warm up to Clay.
Avatar 6:06pm Cecile:

thanks for the heads up Kali. I'm a little leery of ISKCON in general.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Kali G:

Matt, Virginia is in the house and on the air!
Avatar 6:08pm Cecile:

what did this guy look like? I get this picture of a very dapper young man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Virginia Loves Clay! It's for lovers of WFMU!
  6:08pm Oscar:

Just tuned in... is Clay using a different mic? No more micro-cassette recorder?
Avatar 6:09pm david_:

evening, dusters.
Avatar 6:09pm Clay Pigeon:

maritime - tearing at the oxygen - we the vehicles LP
Avatar 6:10pm dale:

maybe he got some new tapes - not re-recording over the old recotons
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Kali G:

@Cecile; Hinduism has a lot of beauty in it, but some groups and institutions like ISKCON have a sordid history of child abuse, the degradation of women, classism and power in the hands of spiritual egoists. The food and art is all good, but beware of male dominated spiritual hierarchies.
Avatar 6:11pm dale:

remember when i got new cassettes one christmas - they were recotons and i was crestfallen
Avatar 6:11pm david_:

TDK D90s all the way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm SeanG:

count me in
Avatar 6:11pm Cecile:

Oh yeah, Kali. I was raised Catholic.
Avatar 6:11pm david_:

oh, mitch the turtle....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Matt from Springfield:

How soon before he crawls into his shell?...
Avatar 6:14pm david_:

a few tax cuts for the rich and TPP passage oughta do it...
  6:15pm Ian in Seattle:

Hey Dusty, I'm a guitar playing singer/song guy. Check it out if you will. https://myspace.com/ianbrewer
  6:17pm Vito:

Clay! THE BEST! Always great hearing you, especially all the way in Boone, NC! -vp
Avatar 6:17pm dale:

not a chicago fan, but i did buy the 45 of feeling stronger everyday when it came out.
Avatar 6:18pm david_:

wfmu.org...
  6:19pm Oscar:

I'm embarrassed to admit... Solo Cetera - Even a Fool Can See is lurking someone deep in my music collection
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Kali G:

@Cecile; Oh yeah, Catholicism, it was the school system I went to from Kindergarden through High School,… one would of thought I would of learned something once I was 18, but no, I stepped into another kind of patriarchal fire,… even in Chicago!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Matt from Springfield:

@Oscar :O !!!!!!!!
;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Kali G:

Art on the radio,… only Clay could pull that off.
Avatar 6:22pm david_:

church, Kali G.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Kali G:

Are that that many homeless people living on the NYC streets, or is Clay with a microphone a magnet for those who live on the streets?
  6:23pm Oscar:

Clay has the pidge-y sense to find them
Avatar 6:24pm dale:

cat pictures?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Matt from Springfield:

@Kali: Clay has long approached anyone in NYC, "from the homeless to the glitterati", as his description once said. He remains possibly the only broadcaster to regularly interview homeless people and let them voice their concerns uncut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Kali G:

@David; Which Church?
Avatar 6:25pm david_:

...and there are a lot of homeless people on the street in NYC
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm SeanG:

isn't ron paul a nazi?
6:26pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Clay is a truly great ambassador, both for the station, and humanity itself.
Avatar 6:27pm david_:

Too bad Jimmy McMillan wasn't on the ballot this year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Kali G:

Thanks Matt and David, I imagine the largest city in the country would be the magnet for possibilities when finances bottom out. I love the interviews, especially from those who don't normally get to have their voice on the radio and internet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm common:

hello clay and good people!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

@SeanG: No, but he sees nothing wrong with people who are.
And, isn't *that* kind of worse??
Avatar 6:29pm david_:

EVERYONE who claims to have met someone from the Dead says they met Phil Lesh or an associate of his specifically… so weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

Good person common, welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm common:

hello, good person matt!
Avatar 6:30pm david_:

Avatar 6:34pm sFrances from PDX:

loving today's show, Clay!
  6:35pm Ian in Seattle:

It makes me happy to know that you will Clay. Love this show!
Avatar 6:36pm david_:

"A real hippie"- isn't that a quantum-observable state?
  6:36pm steuben:

thanks clay! always elated to catch your show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Kali G:

It's either the water in old rusting metal pipes, radio waves,… or all that wifi going through us, don't know,… just don't have enough tin foil to make a hat, all that with Hare Krsna music in the background. The only body bag needed right now is one for wayward beliefs and world views.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm common:

man, i love serpico. gonna watch that tonight.
Avatar 6:37pm david_:

I was thinking the same Kali G- the Hare Krishnas in the background really put that last segment over the top.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Kali G:

David, it is, for no matter where you may locate any specific hippie, he or she will exist only because you are looking at him or her, otherwise he or she is actually not there
  6:38pm Oscar:

one of your best shows clay!
Avatar 6:39pm david_:

The Real Police Are Still Out of Control - Frank Serpico
www.politico.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm common:

clicky-starred this show!
Avatar 6:40pm david_:

Either that or "hippie" is like the Tao- you can't claim to know it if you do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm common:

thanks for that link, david
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Kali G:

Hmmm, you are on to something David, for if one knocks down a hippie in a forest and no else is there, did the hippie actually fall?
Avatar 6:43pm dale:

so a total of 4 million people voted for the new york governor of their choice. isn't that less than half the population of new york city? WHERE IS EVERYONE? election day should be a mandatory holiday
Avatar 6:44pm CZECHANO:

Oh, I was once young and nihilistic like him...
Avatar 6:44pm sFrances from PDX:

(& yes, I voted here in Oregon. Sad that the GMO labelling bill failed. Monsanto did a last minute big push in Anti-labelling ads)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm common:

monsanto is demons.
Avatar 6:46pm david_:

What's up with Oregon, SFrances: legal weed, but no drivers' license for the people picking the bud to drive to work?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Kali G:

Those voting statistics Dale for New York are truly scary, wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Kali G:

I wonder if Democrats stood up to their progressive principles and did not run away from them, if they would have been more successful in this last election?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm SeanG:

all politicians are shit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm common:

joe walsh, right clay? hee so good
Avatar 6:49pm david_:

People upset with Obama's broken promises who prefer Hillary... I just don't get it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Kali G:

I wonder why there are only two political parties? Like there are only two thoughts toward any solution on this planet,… do something or do nothing!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Kali G:

Cosmic!
6:54pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I saw Billy Cobham play with Larry Harlow 20 years ago, then never heard his name again until hearing it twice this week? Is he touring? Dead? What?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Kali G:

According to Wiki, "In December 2011, Cobham began teaching drums online at the Billy Cobham School of Drums"
6:56pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Dale, if it was a mandatory holiday don't you suspect people would vote like they honor MLK on his day, veterans on 11/11, or workers on Labor Day (i.e., very little, because holiday)?
Avatar 6:57pm northguineahills:

Another fine job, Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Kali G:

Nothing molds the soul and the aural consciousness of listeners like Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm cory:
