the "gold-standard"! that's quite a recommendation
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm fleep:

Intrepid reporting. Pulitzer bait.
  3:04pm pierre:

Bonsoir Scott, delighted to be here !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm fleep:

Good afternoon to all four sides of Scott's head.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Scott Williams:

haha, yeah I think my pillowcase would disagree. Hey pals! Happy to be here with you.
Avatar 3:08pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I have not used a medicated shampoo and yet here i am, sitting amongst you good people. I am so terribly sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm fleep:

Not to worry, we have a high tolerance for flakes.
  3:17pm ?:

Yea, weirdness!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm fred:

Typical lib cop-out. I demand that RTD proves his whateverness by playing in Paris or nearby, as long as it's cheap enough that I can afford it, and that someone tells me about it beforehand
  3:18pm Marmalade Kitty:

sounds like the friendly nextdoor poltergeist..
Avatar 3:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

only if the venue will fly out a personal shampoo tech. .... after they find me a personal shampoo tech.
Avatar 3:20pm Droll:

Shampoo for my real friends, real poo for my sham friends...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Faye:

love this Orphan Fairytale 7"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm fred:

@RTD: does a meth-high punk with a chainsaw qualify?
Avatar 3:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

DEE-LUXE, fred, we have a deal.
Avatar 3:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YES, this is how Institutionalized had to be done.
Avatar 3:22pm Kurt Gottschalk:

Avatar 3:23pm Cheri Pi:

WHAT RTD JUST SAID! My words exactly
Avatar 3:23pm Cheri Pi:

clicky stars to the back of the teeth
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Scott Williams:

yeah, Chris totally nails it
  3:24pm common:

Ha! So good!
Avatar 3:24pm Cheri Pi:

  3:25pm pierre:

do I hear RTD playing in Paris (or nearby) around here?

Cheri PI??
Avatar 3:25pm northguineahills:

OK, this might be my favorite cover so far....
Avatar 3:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

nah, pierre, it's a filthy rumor begun by the shampooist's lobby. Next year, pending some job thing...!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Joe D:

great great great version by Chris M! WOW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm fred:

@RTD: meet you at la miroiterie then. They're about to be evicted, but that's been the case for 5+ years. And Pierre just volunteered to give you a haircut in case the chainsaw-wielding punk got ill or something
  3:29pm pierre:

i'll make sure to get all of the year free then
Avatar 3:29pm northguineahills:

my shampoo was dry this morn....
  3:33pm pierre:

On the front of deeply interesting stuff, don't know if that's relevant, but i'm actually probably going to get my hair cut tomorrow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm fleep:

May the back of your head reach the gold standard.
Avatar 3:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...and may Jim Price give live reportage of such, for posterity.
Avatar 3:36pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Lovely piece, SW. I'm woefully uneducated on all things D.Syndicate.
Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Glenn M:

Avatar 3:40pm northguineahills:

I share a similar ignorance as the Rev. Turnip Druid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm fred:

@pierre: as they say, pics or it didn't happen. Lucas is leaving for Vienna soon, he'll be having his farewell party Wednesday, I'd love it if you showed up
Avatar 3:45pm Cheri Pi:

hell yeah!
Avatar 3:47pm PKNY:

happy birthday to George Clinton!
Avatar 3:48pm Cheri Pi:

I'm adding "buy a Funkadelic lp" to my to-do list.
Avatar 3:52pm PKNY:

@Cheri Pi - change that to "buy all Westbound-era Funkadelic LPs"
  3:52pm pierre:

@fred : where is it ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Carmichael:

Hey, uh, Hi Scott and uh, hiya everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm fred:

La villette, maps.google.fr...
Avatar 3:56pm Cheri Pi:

hey-uh Carmichael!
Avatar 3:56pm Cecile:

  3:57pm pierre:

dans le parc ?
  3:58pm green mountain man mark:

  3:58pm Hipster:

This song touches me deeply. It speaks to my heart and my beard.
Avatar 3:58pm northguineahills:

I should always have "add a Funkadelic record to my to-do list as I only have "Maggot Brain".
Avatar 3:59pm Cecile:

this song is about as exciting as watching a beard grow.
Avatar 3:59pm northguineahills:

Apparently, I'm growing a beard, as I haven't shaved since Friday.
Avatar 3:59pm doca:

oh can someone say why it's snowing in brazil? only wfmu to warm a cold afternoon.
  4:01pm Hipster:

Fellow men! Don't we always inevitably grow a beard?
Avatar 4:01pm Cecile:

really, doca? OMFG.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Carmichael:

It can't snow in Brazil. It just can't, dammit.
Avatar 4:02pm the glowing one:

@doca: Because it's winter in the southern hemisphere.
  4:02pm pierre:

I've got Maggot Brain and Cosmic slop, now i'm trying to get my hands on "Funkadelic", and then I'll try to get myself some Cymande
Avatar 4:02pm doca:

@Hipster: I agree, we grow beards since we were born.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm fred:

Yeah, it's a bit awkward for me as my mother is in a coma. I'm not sure I can make it. But you should go if you can
Avatar 4:03pm doca:

yes, I know, but last week it even made almost 30ºC
Avatar 4:04pm northguineahills:

Avatar 4:04pm Cecile:

That is nuts, doca. Winter shouldn't be so wintery there.
Avatar 4:05pm doca:

anyway, great show, scott. i got the day off (not because of snow or cold weather) and i must say it makes me happy to listen to the fmu all day.
  4:05pm pierre:

I will try to Fred. Merci for passing the word.
Hope everything will be ok.
Avatar 4:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

My kingdom for a decent pair of monitors & bastard-strength subwoof
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Scott Williams:

thank you doca! heard dat RTD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Carmichael:

It's the flippin' Apocalypse. Eczema, accidental beards and snow in Brazil.
Avatar 4:07pm doca:

@Cecile: but it shouldn't be so summery also.
@Carmichael: perhaps Senhor Testículo can make someone's day happy.
Avatar 4:08pm Sem Chumbo:

snowing in Brazil:www.urbandictionary.com...
Avatar 4:08pm Cheri Pi:

Mr. CP the younger shaved his beard (leaving sideburns) and all his man-friends are mad at him. I'm overjoyed, so is his mom.
Avatar 4:08pm doca:

@Sem Chumbo: haha! great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Carmichael:

I can only hope, Doca.
Avatar 4:10pm Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 4:10pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The good Rev has been facially denuded only maybe twice since the age of 20. Not vanity as much as it is total laziness with regards to shaving.
Avatar 4:13pm Cheri Pi:

I'll enjoy it while it lasts, which will be about a week. I've learned to stay out of a man's facial hair business.
Avatar 4:14pm doca:

it's a touchy subject, cheri pi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Carmichael:

Manscaping is the final macho frontier. Let us at least have THAT.
Avatar 4:15pm northguineahills:

I get razor burn easily, or my skin dries and flakes off when I shave. Now that i'm in an office, I shave about once every 9 days.
Avatar 4:16pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...the purpose of which seems to be so we can look back at photos from 1998 and freak the hell out.
Avatar 4:17pm doca:

@Carmichael: totally agree.
Avatar 4:17pm Cheri Pi:

So true Rev, such is the purpose of all eyewear, facial hair and pant leg girth.
Avatar 4:18pm northguineahills:

Just long enough for the beard to emerge. My facial hair come in fast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm DCE:

every time I let my facehair grow a bit the babygirl (4 year old daughter) says "Dad, you're getting fuzzy again". So cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm fred:

A friend once took matters in her own hands and shaved part of her husband's beard while he was asleep. Let's leave it as that he had no choice but to finish the job
Avatar 4:21pm Cecile:

I love my husband's beard.
  4:21pm common:

why do i have a gigantic beard when it's 100 outside? Not so smart.
Avatar 4:22pm northguineahills:

My gf hates the beard, but lives w/ it as long as I condition it.
Avatar 4:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I approve this vocal track.
Avatar 4:23pm the glowing one:

Laryngectomy Blues
Avatar 4:26pm Cheri Pi:

Your husband has a very lucky beard :{D>
  4:26pm common:

wow! my band is recording a record called "Scary Submarine". Good to hear another submarine song!
  4:27pm pierre:

yes JLP !
  4:27pm green mountain man mark:

@common it is because the heat with a beard is ok if your beard is cool.
Avatar 4:28pm Cheri Pi:

what Pierre said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm fred:

Funniest was how that guy was bragging about how he ruled at home before that incident. Come to think of it this might not have been a coincidence. I miss this girl, she's fierce
  4:31pm common:

@green mountain: Yea. You're right.
  4:33pm brobostigon:

What's the background music here (and the one before)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Carmichael:

Basic training took away my hair. Nature gave a fair amount of it back.
Avatar 4:37pm Danne D:

Hi Folks :)
Hi Scott :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm efd:

A wandering minstrel I, A thing of shreds and patches.
Of ballads, songs and snatches, And dreamy lullaby!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm efd:

(that's what I thought of when you said I might be wandering with the wireless mic.)
  4:39pm common:

i love I am the cosmos!
Avatar 4:40pm Jeff:

Nope, that's from The Mikado.
Avatar 4:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

man, brrr, jeezus, spend a few minutes looking thru stock photos of John Boehner. That'll clean yr clock but good.
Avatar 4:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

He's a true ray of sunshine, that boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Carmichael:

King of the high hats, right here.
Avatar 4:46pm Whosondephone:

Avatar 4:50pm doca:

why maxwell's is closing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Scott Williams:

a variety of reasons, doca, mostly parking & the changing culture of hobroken, ie the populace there doesn't give a shit about Maxwells anymore
Avatar 5:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm fred:

I'm mad about this closing, but part of me wants to believe the new Maxwells is up and running somewhere. As I'm over 40, I shouldn't hear about it. That's as it should be
Avatar 5:08pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 5:09pm doca:

sorry, connection's a bit slow here, but that's a shame, since i started listening seriously to music i hear about maxwell's. true places are becoming rarer these days...

  5:48pm DBBB:

What album is this Wire song from?
  5:49pm adamnspy:

I have wondered allowed to myself often --- did the band ZS get their name from this song (lowdown)? I doubt it BUT! maybe... Or maybe I'm mishearing the lyrics.
Avatar 5:49pm Fernando M Pacheco:

I must have Fragile somewhere in this iPod.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Scott Williams:

DBBB hahaha
  5:50pm kristin:

especially love Fragile, which the Feelies used to cover often - I'm sure they played it at Maxwell's sometime !
  5:51pm DBBB:

Darn. I was hoping somebody would be humor-impaired. 'cuz I wanted to ask if there are any other good songs on the album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm paul b:

The main fuzz guitar riff on Lowdown always reminds me of Flesheaters version of Cyrano de Berger
