  9:58pm
Commenter Clinic:

Cheri, you may want to consider letting freeform DJs pick their own music rather than constantly directing, and then reposting your request when someone politely and conflict-avoidantly ignores the request.

Also, try not to ask questions all the time about DJs' prior and upcoming personal activities. It's stalkery and skeeves the other commenters.

Over and out.
  9:59pm
cheri:

i think i should say goodnight now,,,evan i don't you angry at me,,,see you next week,,,
  10:12pm
seang:

  10:12pm
ScottC:

Jim Carrol is spinning in his grave...
  10:13pm
john:

The memory banks are a little depleted these days, but I do seem to recall hearing these guys on WNYU way back when...and they still sound great!
  10:15pm
efd:

john, you're correct - they used to be called New Math, then later changed their name. The song I just played was one of my faves from 1981 or so - they re-recorded some New Math songs with their new singer for this CD.
  10:20pm
john:

Yeah, I thought that was a pre-JBB song, but I couldn't remember New Math to save my life. Guess a lot of kids had the same problem.
  10:33pm
Amanda:

Yeah, I was waiting for that segue. This is my favorite song lately, btw.
  10:34pm
efd:

Amanda, you know me too well! :)
  10:36pm
Amanda:

I mean, they DO sound almost the same!
  10:38pm
efd:

it's true.
  10:40pm
Danne D:

Hi Amanda, Hi EFD, Hi everyone.
  10:42pm
randy in NC:

The stuff on this Like CD is SO CATCHY.....
  10:42pm
Amanda:

Heyo, Danne!

I am so happy to hear this Like song as well...
  10:44pm
randy in NC:

And I mean everything on it too...
  10:44pm
Nat the Cake:

i've been noticing a fair amount of crossover between WFMU and the Barnes & Noble in-store playlist in the past month or so...... it's like we're all connected through the same psychic mailing list...
  10:48pm
Oh Nat you didn't:

Clearly B&N employees cannot read, do not know of WFMU but are psychic & that's why they get the big bucks.
  10:50pm
Christopher:

i LOVE that conspiracy of owls record!!
  10:50pm
Nat the Cake:

!!!!
big bucks indeed!
  10:53pm
Ani Benglian:

Come again...Your favorite 2010 Band/Album? Thanks.

squidy:

  11:20pm
efd:

What up, squidy?

Ani: Not that there's anything wrong with that. (Is there?)

Madi: IT IS A GAME-CHANGER!

TOP: you'll get your do-over next week.

Danne: Thanks!
  11:23pm
Christopher:

that guitar intro sounds a lot like the Velvets 'Rock n Roll'
  11:24pm
Ani Benglian:

Nothing wrong with Iggy whatsovever!
  11:26pm
cheri:

evan just one last question---am i still always welcome??
  11:28pm
Latest:

Does comma girl know you're taken?!!
  11:39pm
Danne D:

Have a good night everyone.
Thanks again Evan. Nobody does it like you, man.
  11:39pm
Punk To A Shun:

All those commas upset my colon sometimes. :-)
  11:40pm
Taylor:

OK, friends, gateways to geekery time: I have no Cheap Trick albums. Never heard one. Where do I start? Where do I continue? What's essential?
  11:40pm
Psychic B&N Laid Off Worker:

Does anyone else hear....breathing?
  11:42pm
efd:

Taylor, imho you can't go wrong with the first one (self-titled). In Color, or Dream Police. After that they start getting a little spottier.
  11:46pm
Uh Huh!:

Evan is so right. Any CT album with an actual 1970s release date is classic CT. There are four of those. The eponymous first album did well with reviewers but not w/ the public. Dream Police charted highest.

The Japanese bought all their stuff for years, but Japan is Japan -- just ask Spinal Tap. :-)
  11:47pm
john:

I'm going to add a vote for Heaven Tonight as the best of all. First s/tt one way up there, and dont' forget Budokan. More recently, Rockford was the best record since Dream Police or even HT. .
  11:49pm
Uh Huh!:

For additional reference:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheap_Trick_discography
  11:49pm
efd:

oh yes, Heaven Tonight is also very good! s/t, In Color, Dream Police, Heaven Tonight are all solid. I never really got into Budokan, but my general dislike of live albums has been covered here before.
  11:54pm
Taylor:

Thanks, everyone. I'm a guy with a lot of work to do (and not just because I just dipped my first toe into the Kinks discography with "Arthur").
  11:54pm
john:

I'm with you there on the general point of non-live-album-fandom. Expanded Budokan set an awfully good intro to the band, all the same.

Interesting side item there: Live Albums For People Who Hate Live Albums. It'd be a short list if I could think of any more.
  11:56pm
Madi H:

Jeff Beck Wired. Peter Frampton.
  11:57pm
Madi H:

That Manzanera record.
  11:57pm
Taylor:

Miles Davis "Pangaea", of course...that baby's unstoppable.
  11:59pm
Ani Benglian:

Aias is great.
  12:08am
efd:

Thanks everyone for listening and commenting (if anyone is actually still looking at this)!
