PUJOL LIVE @ WFMU!

Daniel Pujol writes infectious garage-punk channeling the classic vibes of his hometown, Nashville TN. After playing in countless local bands (including Meemaw. Wizardz, and Denny & The Jets) Pujol's eponymous solo project has taken flight with Sean Thompson on guitar, Joey Scala on bass, and Adam Tanaka on drums. He's also got the support of Jack White, whose Third Man label is released a Pujol 7'' produced by the White Stripe himself. Pujol's discography already includes releases on Jeff The Brotherhood's Infinity Cat Recordings. And a new 7'' helped launch the Turbo Fruits' Turbo Time imprint.
Pujol is touring with Turbo Fruits through mid-November:

Listener comments!

  9:05am
Tom:

Can't go wrong with a band with this name.
  9:07am
Tom:

So I hear Charlie Rose was at the Record Fair. Anybody know what he bought??
  9:11am
seang:

sounding good, good morning folks!
  9:12am
turkeyface:

farting on a lesbian's nipples.
  9:13am
Cecile:

Good morning.

I don't know Tom, but I'm sure he engaged in scintillating intellgent banter with his seller and made him or her feel like the most important person in the room.
  9:14am
still b/p:

Adriano sounds like a peppier version of Dylan on his Christmas album.
  9:15am
Tom:

Ha. yes, rubbed his chin, nodded, and looked sleepy.
  9:19am
jason:

yes Tom! Good morning Cecile and Still B/P and seang, how is everybody doin??
  9:20am
Cecile:

Pretty good. Someone left me a banana at my desk. It was lovely.
  9:21am
Cecile:

Ooooh! Do you have some Nomads, Jason?
  9:21am
Tom:

Mornin Jason. Happy it is Thur. Goin to Omar Souleyman next week?
  9:22am
Michael from Philly:

Love this Bangsters song....
  9:23am
Tom:

Real Cool Time is a great collection!
  9:23am
Dale from North Dakota:

Morning, Jason and all! I drove to Omaha on Tuesday to see Roger Waters do "The Wall"... what an amazing show. See it if you can, last chance, I'm sure.
  9:28am
Cheri Pi:

I don't like JW but I'll keep an open mind for you Jason.
  9:28am
Cecile:

Oh, that's crazy ridiculous. Man.
  9:31am
still b/p:

I'm wicked tie-yud.
And disappointed that commitments, again, will keep me from seeing Souleyman when he comes near enough.
  9:32am
Cecile:

The Italian Louis Prima!
  9:41am
BSI:

ears on. digging like mad.
  9:54am
postmanpaul:

Bought anything like this that I could lay my hands on during 2000-2003 in Cairo, Jason. Mainly cassettes (we listen to them in my partner's car, it has a cass player) all printed in Arabic... must get them translated, I suppose.
  9:56am
Dale from North Dakota:

If this is a cover of Hillage, has to be one of the most obscure ever.
  9:58am
Cecile:

Dale, I love how you bring the deep prog knowledge to the table. Cool!
  10:00am
Dale from North Dakota:

Thanks :-) Oh, Tim Blake! I talked to him a month ago because his web store was down and I wanted to buy something. Nice guy -- I paypalled him twelve bucks and he emailed me the album.
  10:05am
Cecile:

I gotta check Tim Blake out. I'm a sucker for proto-punk-prog that falls outside the standard 70s narrative...
  10:06am
Cecile:

You know, this kind of thing in France kind of taunts my sleeping inner Libertarian. I think they have bigger fish to fry.
  10:06am
Cheri Pi:

Cecile-I was just reading his bio on wiki! I hope ebay can provide the vinyl.
  10:07am
Cecile:

But I've been on my soapbox enough this week.
  10:07am
Tom:

Creepy as hell. And not just a libertarian cause either.
  10:07am
Cecile:

I saw some downloads. And some spendy collector's CDs.
  10:08am
Joe:

  10:08am
Cecile:

I want to say "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU LET THE #$%%^ IN THE RIAA GET THEIR WAY."
  10:09am
Dale from North Dakota:

Blake's "New Jerusalem" is a great album, it's a bit like Hillage's very late stuff but more synthy and less guitary. All of it is derivative of early Gong, of course, so if you liked them in the early 70s, you'll enjoy Blake.
  10:09am
Cecile:

Pujol are bringing it.
  10:17am
dc pat:

yes Pujol are good morning rock.
  10:19am
dc pat:

wow, Butterfly Knife is my new favorite tune!
  10:28am
Cecile:

they have this great blend of trippy and songwriting and power. Good band.
  10:30am
Cecile:

I just tweeted the intro this to this song. Great sentiment.
  10:34am
jason:

i just retweeted that!
  10:35am
dc pat:

me too.
  10:35am
jason:

shoutout to Joe D who inspired this session to happen!!
  10:40am
Cecile:

Jeff the Brotherhood has to play.
  10:43am
dc pat:

Jason, ask them where they're playing, can't find a schedule...
  10:45am
dc pat:

telecaster = #1.
  10:49am
Chris from DC:

Pat, they were just at Comet Ping Pong last week.
  10:53am
Joe:

mad props to Jason S. who made it happen

Pujol tourdates can be found at myspace.com/danielluccapujol and infinitycat.com
  10:56am
dc pat:

Great. That must have been a good show. Oh well...
  10:57am
SmokinJ:

Nice set from those cats JS..
  10:58am
dc pat:

I didn't see any schedule at either of those spots.
  11:01am
J-Mar:

Oh, I got it now -- it's all Tennessee bands!
  11:06am
Joe:

oh man I don't even know then. Tour must be over. But despair not - there'll be another one soon.
  11:17am
Cecile:

This whole thing is the middleman's revenge.
  11:20am
Cecile:

The same kind of people who say this is about artist's rights, are the same kind of people who ripped off George Clinton, who didn't pay Musical Youth royalties for 20 years...
  11:23am
Cecile:

I do think record companies, producers and agents can steer artists toward greatness, but they got greedy and lazy and didn't pay people, so why wouldn't people choose to be indie?
  11:24am
Cecile:

Meg Whitman and eBay own Skype.
  11:25am
Joe:

I also enjoy the hypocrisy involved with the type of content that's protected - at this, point, pornography is probably the most pirated item by the amount of bandwidth, but you'll never see any ISP enforcing their copyrights.
  11:26am
Carmichael:

NutMeg has spent her last millions. 10+ points down to Jerry Brown. She'll thankfully get her piehole off of my screen next Tuesday.
  11:28am
Cecile:

Here is a link that's interesting. http://torrentfreak.com/angry-developer-transforms-anti-piracy-system-into-music-download-site-101026/
  11:32am
dc pat:

Not to change the subject but I'm following fucking PETE TOWNSHEND on twitter!
  11:34am
Bad Ronald:

Whut's the Big T upta?
  11:37am
Cecile:

That's pretty awesome, dcp!
  11:37am
dc pat:

"research" ...not really him, I was just kiddin'
  11:41am
Bad Ronald:

I find it kind of frightening that the whole "Lifehouse" concept is becoming a reality at this point.
  11:43am
dc pat:

man I didn't even hear about that. Lifehouse! Is he doing the whole "grab people off the street, find their song" thing?
  11:46am
Carmichael:

I hadn't heard that either. He might as well bring it back before someone else does it for him. Maybe it'll be on the next season of Glee.
  11:48am
Bad Ronald:

Read something earlier this week and I can't relocate it...
  11:49am
Cecile:

agh! power metal!
  11:50am
Cecile:

No. it's power metal Hi-NRG
  11:50am
BSI:

oh dear.
  11:51am
Cecile:

Was this the Eurovision Song Contest winner?
  11:53am
german:

what the fuck happen to the music jason..this sounds cheap on cocaine
  11:54am
Carmichael:

I envision them doing calisthenics a la Freddie & the Dreamers.
  11:56am
Cecile:

Great show, Jason. Gotta hit a meeting, so later.
