Hey, Marley!

Baja Joe, I thought we were going to get to meet last week at the station! Scott had forgotten you'd canceled because of your anniversary -- certainly a valid reason! See you next time!

Hey Joe & early risers. Still raining over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

Hey all, did somebody mention the new summer schedule over the weekend or did I hallucinate after too much coffee?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:04am Ken From Hyde Park:

Ra-di-o! Did anyone catch the catchy Yip Yip remix that kicked off Billy Jam's show last Friday? www.wfmu.org... It was incredible!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:05am Brian in UK:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:18am Handy Haversack:

joe mulligan: maybe? This week's a little complex for me. I had told Scott I could maybe come in this afternoon/evening, but I only let him know yesterday, so I'm not sure that's going to work. Otherwise ... *maybe* I could do Thursday early shift? Not sure what SW's sched. is, though.

@Handy yeah I reached out to Scott late last week and he said he had to wait for Michele to come back from vaca cause she had some people
  9:23am dano59:

I feel trippy and somewhat less dead with this set, Joe. Was telling a DJ here in a bull session about the local radio wasteland that FMU has been a lifeline/resource these many months. Grazie.
Avatar 9:24am Joe McG:

@dano59: So nice to hear! Folks have been really great over this past year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am northguineahills:

When I was in cub scout camp, one of my favorite pastimes was to fill a bucket w/ fiddler crabs, and then dump them back the lake shore
  9:24am dano59:

@Handy are you allowed to share info on Kate's band re the custom 45s/preorder dealio?

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:30am Handy Haversack:

Hey, dano59! That's really nice of you to ask! The final details and timing aren't totally set yet. I will happily share what I can when I learn it. Or follow them on Bandcamp and you'll definitely get an announcement. Link in my profile.

Well hey there Handy! How are things in Handyland?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am David (in London):

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:51am The Oscar:

Mornin'! I'm not sure I've ever heard a bad version of "Taboo," but MAN what a good version of "Taboo."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Astrud Gilberto quietly toed over to David Lynch sitting in his Tiki Niche.
... 'Is today that day?' - she ventured.

Avatar 9:53am Joe McG:

Sorry about the clicks on this BRAND-NEW record that DJs have managed to destroy already.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am StringOFperils:

Good morning! I was actually charmed by the 'virgin' scratch.
Avatar 🎸 9:54am TonyR:

Great typo, @WaffleMix.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am David (in London):

All that scratching is making me itch.
Avatar 🎸 9:54am TDK60:

Ha! Joe, the Archives might tell us who needs a remedial DJ intro course. Hee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am StringOFperils:

Replacement records are part of the money-go-round too.
  🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:55am 12539:

Waitaminute - did Joe just apologize for surface noise?!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:55am Brian in UK:

David, Bernal has sealed it today.
  9:55am Brendan:

Good morning Joe and all. Nice set. I don’t drink coffee much, but if this were a cup, you made it just right.
Avatar 9:55am Joe McG:

@12539: Ha ha, you caught me.
Avatar 9:55am Tank Top:

That Kinks cover sounded great striped down to acoustic.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:56am Handy Haversack:

It's a small list of suspects. And one of them is a *notorious* bad boy.
Avatar 9:56am Roberto:

I wouldn't consider it an apology seeing as he blamed other DJs for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Phillippe:

@David social life??? (wide-eyed emoji)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am David (in London):

I've got the world's dullest HR meeting now. But I'm going to be on mute, so I'm keeping listening to this and just going to nod periodically on screen. Back soon.
  9:58am TerrDE:

Handy, wasn't Bruce fetching the records last show ?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:59am Brian in UK:

One of A girl called Eddy's earlier albums had a cover that looked like an old worn album sleeve. Perhaps Kass Richard's was deliberately crackly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Baja Joe:

Here comes the sun!
Avatar 🎸 10:00am TonyR:

Huge U.S. Girls fan. Only know Meg by name, Thanks for pointing out who Kass is.

Hi Surface Noise lovers! I'm glad we got to hear a little end groove crackle in this set.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:03am Krys O.:

@Roberto: I think Good on ya an Australian phrase.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:04am Hughie Considine:

@Roberto, I think this happened at around the same time that people started referring to the wearing of a particular item of clothing as "rocking" it.
Avatar 10:04am Roberto:

TDK, I don't think I'll ever be able to go under the flow.

Avatar 10:07am Roberto:

I'll accept "good on ya" as long as it's uttered in a horrible fake Aussie accent.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:07am Handy Haversack:

Hey, Rachel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am StringOFperils:

@Roberto > Or "that looks good on ya", when admiring one's bad self in the mirror, wearing that new WFMU T-shirt.

Hm. Cure as Rawk. Good on ya.
  10:17am Rick A:

I saw Tuscadero open up for Chapel Hill band Archers of Loaf right before Thanksgiving of 1996. They had a lot of energy live and were better than Archers that night, anyway.
  10:19am Rachel Bo Bachel:

Handy oops sorry for calling you “Handu” lol. Got three kids in here; a little distracted here!
  10:20am Rick A:

Yay, the Wedding Present, another great live band! I saw them many times. They were my best friend's at the time favorite band.
  10:20am Miss G:

On my 40th birthday a friend gave me every Wedding Present vinyl release, including rare 45s and 10 inches. But I reckon I don't have this!
Avatar 10:21am Joe McG:

@Miss G: Jesus God, am I jealous!
  10:21am MKUltra:

some serious Buzzcocks channeling going on there.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:21am Handy Haversack:

Ha, no worries, Rachel!

Digging the covers, Joe. Though they *will* spur a Cure dive at some point soon!

Hi, Miss G! Your letter is the one that convinced the tax man, I bet!
Swag For Life Member 10:22am Joshie in Fleetwood Pennsylvania:

Whoa. On my 40th, I just had some Senape's Pitza and some Guer's iced tea.

@Joshie: Wow, you're clearly one of my people. Although I was a Longo's partisan.
  10:23am Miss G:

Joe McG, but see, you played what I don't have! I'll have to pull some of the 45s out later. The 10"s got destroyed in a flood. :-( HH, you were so great to help me edit, I would have procrastinated without you. I imagine it was the HUNDREDS of emails figure that scared the tax people!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am McGroovey:

Gosh. Ducks Ltd has a Tom McGreevy in the band. It sounds like it.

Killer set, Joe McG!
  10:31am Miss G:

TonyR, ah yes I see the release date now. In 2011 I hit a different *cough* milestone so it was later than "the birthday present(s.)"

Wednesday, May 26, 7 to 9 PM
on Weekly World Blues and Honky Tonk Radio Girl

Celebrating 80 years of America's Sweetheart, Matt Fiveash and Becky B team up for a 2-hour special examining what it was he done, through the lens of the blues and country music that he used as his raw materials. We'll hear blues & country artists covering Bob, blues & country songs that Bob covered, songs that Bob lifted from, and some choice cuts from Bobby Z himself, plus whatever else your opinionated hosts decide is appropriately Dylan-adjacent. Guaranteed 100% conventional-wisdom-free, sure to offend hardcore Dylan fans and too-cool-for-school detractors alike. Tune in, you will not die, it's not poison!
