"Running Bare" kind of against brand for IT?
Avatar 9:46am TonyR:

I'm chasing another rerun, aren't I?
Avatar 9:48am TonyR:

Oh. I'm up too early on Monday Morning. Never mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am Irene Trudel:

HaHa! Tony you're definitely here too early. I'm still in the planning phase and not on air for another two hours. See you then!
Avatar 10:10am TonyR:

TY, IT!!
Avatar 11:51am Sean in Bristol UK:

Good afternoon Irene, hello one and all from a grey, soggy Bristol, ready to sell my soul for some warmth and sun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Irene Trudel:

Hey Sean (and TonyR)! How about some good jangly chords? I'm starting off with a bit of a Dylan tribute today, in honor of his 80th trip around the sun.
Avatar 11:59am TonyR:

Back from McGaskoville. Hellooooo!
Avatar 12:00pm βrian:

Good day.
Avatar 12:01pm βrian:

Sounds like a Rodriguez knock-off, but maybe not.
Avatar 12:01pm Sylvia:

Hello Irene and listeners
Avatar 12:02pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Great piece in today’s NY Times about Bob reaching 80
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Irene Trudel:

Hey βrian and Sylvia!
Avatar 12:02pm TonyR:

Glad Bob enjoyed that huge cashout before passing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irene & Co. As Sean writes, a very soggy UK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Irene Trudel:

Haven't read it yet, Sean. Monday mornings I'm a bit focused on planning the show. I'll save it for later. Hope the sogginess abates for you in the UK!
Avatar 12:05pm βrian:

He-or-she-or-them-or-its ought to be a designated genus.
Avatar 12:06pm βrian:

Western Michigan could've used a little sogginess. There was not a morel to be found.
Avatar 12:06pm TonyR:

Irene put up designated jeans.
Avatar 12:08pm TonyR:

I'm a compleat Dylan tourist (I have a few 80s albums). Always grateful for someone knowledgeable to curate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Brian in UK:

@βrian I was doing some strimming the other day. Glancing into the long grass came across some Oysters. They made a delicious soup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Irene Trudel:

Oh, I'm no Dylan expert, TonyR. Today's just a smattering of favorites.
Avatar 12:11pm TonyR:

You're 3-for-3 at this point, IT. No sweat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Irene Trudel:

G'day, Summer and Michael and Sylvia!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm chresti@Griffith Park:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm coelacanth∅:

those jeans are practically new!
Avatar 12:18pm Stork:

Hi Irene and all! Happy Bob Day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Irene Trudel:

βrian, I don't think those jeans are going to make it that far. They certainly are well-loved! Hi chresti & coelacanth∅!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Irene Trudel:

Happy Bob Day to you, Stork!
  12:20pm Peter K.:

"Here is your throat back. Thanks for the loan." NOBODY wrote lyrics like that before Bobby came along.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm chresti@Griffith Park:

Bringing it All Back Home was a family favorite growing up, thanks to a friend of my older brother sending care packages full of records when we moved to California from Illinois in'65.
Avatar 12:21pm Stork:

"A saw a white ladder all covered with water."
Avatar 12:22pm Stork:

This Frisell track is divine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm coelacanth∅:

...keeping you in touch with the hip illinois music scene chresti?
Avatar 12:23pm TonyR:

Happy Birthday, Mr. Irene's Dad!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm chresti@Griffith Park:

At 8 years old, I had my own way of decifering lyrics.
coel, my older brother and my parents at least.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm coelacanth∅:

i still consider bringing it all back home a perfect album. that and highway 61 revisited. his 2 perfect albums.
Avatar 12:28pm Stork:

Pete Seeger reportedly tried to cut the main power line to the stage during Newport with an axe. Thankfully, he was restrained.
  12:29pm Peter K.:

Amazingly, "Bringin' It All Back Home" was released in March 1965 and "Highway 61 Revisited" in August 1965 -- just five months later! One was early electric Dylan, the other the full dose. And "Blonde on Blonde" came out less than a year after that. (By the way, Stork, that Pete Seeger story had been pretty thoroughly debunked -- by, among others, Pete Seeger.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm coelacanth∅:

chresti i was messin' with you, because ca was considered such a music hot spot it seemed ironic...but then i always forget that chicago is in illinois!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm doctorjazz:

Was crazy about this Dylan when it came out (can still song every word)
Hi Irene and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Peter! I was just about to mention that about the Newport story.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm coelacanth∅:

i could believe that Pete Seeger story being a falsehood, but not because Pete Seeger said so!
Avatar 12:33pm Annabella in Crewkerne UK:

Good afternoon Irene, greetings fellow listeners, huge Bob fan, loving what you are playing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Irene Trudel:

Hiya doctorjazz! I had started out loving Dylan in my teens, but got rather sick of him for a while to to overexposure of his "hits" on radio. My fandom was rekindled after seeing Dylan's post-9/11 concert, in which he played nothing but songs he wrote in NYC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Annabella!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm coelacanth∅:

(no disrespect meant... it shouldn't surprise that one would deny trying to cut off Dylan)
Avatar 12:35pm TonyR:

Pete was headed for the craft table. (How he kept weight off, I'll never know.)
Avatar 12:38pm TonyR:

I love the photos of DYlan in NYC in the early 60s. So different. Cobblestone streets, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm chresti@Griffith Park:

He got Highway 61 the next year, every 1 or 2 years until about 72 or 73, he sent records. Beatles, Donovan, Bob, etc.
Avatar 12:39pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Bob was always on my periphery, respectful of his impact until I saw the live concert Netflix streamed. I should know the title of the concert movie but I was blown away. Huge fan now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm chresti@Griffith Park:

Agree coel@12:25
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm HyperDose:

Really feeling the comfy jean metaphor today. Just got back from another stroll through my new stomping grounds. I think I love it here!
Avatar 12:44pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Where are you, HyperDose?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm coelacanth∅:

chresti that was a true friend your brother had
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm coelacanth∅:

this may be my favorite Dylan song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm coelacanth∅:

that's great to hear HyperD!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

This is a great tribute in progress, here, Irene! One after another! Love!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Irene! Happy Bobday!
Avatar 12:51pm Stork:

Just reeling from Nashville Skyline, now getting emotionally wracked by The Sad-Eyed Lady.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Webhamster Henry:

Somewhere around here I have a cassette aircheck of the "Bob Dylan Imitator's Contest" that aired on the Live Music Faucet I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm HyperDose:

@Sean I just moved to Bayonne, NJ from a town a bit more inland. This area is more diverse, working class, and closer to NYC. Finished the unpacking, now I just have to buy furniture.
Avatar 12:54pm Sean in Bristol UK:

I agree, Summer, Michael and Sylvia, the fruit based streaming service is going to get some major hits from Mr Dylan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

For sure, @Sean!
Avatar 12:56pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Been to NJ, HyperDose, was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the state once you got a bit further south!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm doctorjazz:

My youth, lying on the living room, listening to Bobby on the console record player, ahhh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Summer and Michael and Sylvia! Hi Henry! Nicholas Hill did a great Dylan tribute fill-in for me one year which I think he titled, "Bob Dylan Is a Very Funny Fellow." Sad that Nick can no longer do radio due to a stroke. Such a big Dylan fan!
Avatar 1:00pm Sean in Bristol UKke:

Just fruit based mapped you, Hyper, crikey, it looks like you are a stone’s throw from the Mothership, that being WFMU. Apologies if I have dissed your neighbourhood!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm HyperDose:

@Sean None taken! It is a bit more "concrete jungle" here, but I'm happy to trade less trees for a quieter unit with a balcony. Autumn really is the best time to be in NJ. The orange & yellow hues of the foliage really push the boundaries of color!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Michael 98145:

... remember waiting for those Dylan 7-inchers
Avatar 1:07pm Sean in Bristol UKke:

And it was this track that opened my eyes, Irene which you played
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm coelacanth∅:

my brother already had 3-4 Dylan albums so i was surprised when he brought home the lay lady lay 45. i guess he didn't have a lot of faith in nashville skyline.
( - he must've acquired it later though)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Happy Bobday, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm coelacanth∅:

i think Bob was on the first Johnny Cash show?
Avatar 1:18pm Sean in Bristol UKke:

The Rolling Thunder Revue, that was the one I saw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Michael 98145:

thinking about turquoise
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Irene Trudel:

Yes, Michael and coelacanth∅, I had a few Dylan singles. Still do. It might've been a money thing in my case in those days before college. Happy Bobday, Doug!
Avatar 1:24pm Annabella in Crewkerne UK:

In a world of Bobness contentment, thank you Irene
Avatar 1:29pm Sean in Bristol UKke:

Where I have I been for the late forty years, my ears have been truly opened, thank you Irene!
Avatar 1:31pm Sean in Bristol UKke:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Michael 98145:

Have to dig out my I Want You and Positively 4th Street 45s. Hard to believe that was 1965 ...
Avatar 1:32pm Stork:

Excellent read in the Guardian today - Jagger's quote is really good: www.theguardian.com...
Avatar 1:34pm Stork:

According to the piece, Bob Dylan's dream is Judy Collins' fave Bob tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Michael 98145:

@Stork, thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Irene Trudel:

Bob set several dreams to music. Must've had something to do with the herbs he was ingesting.
  1:36pm Annabella LL Van Clute:

Hi Sean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Webhamster Henry:

I was remarking today when I was a kid, a Dylan song would come out and instantly there'd be cover versions all over the place.

Great covers, Irene! We need to pick up this Emma Swift album on the next Bandcamp Friday. And we've heard Robyn do "Visions" live before - love. Is it possible we've also heard him do "Fourth Time Around"? Is memory playing a trick? Do you know that one from his live sets? Thinking he did it once at a show at Maxwell's...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Irene Trudel:

Summer and Michael and Sylvia, It's on this collection of live tracks, Robyn sings! I may not get to it today though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Ike:

This isn't Ken's show so I guess that means Dylan is still alive. Actually, at this point I suspect Dylan can *only* die during Ken's show, and is invulnerable to harm at all other times of the week. I don't make the rules.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Ike and PLU! Definitely glad Dylan's still with us. Thanks everybody for listening to my Dylan indulgences today! Stay tuned for Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Ike:

@PLU on a non-Dylan note, someone on another station today played the normal version of Human League's "Don't You Want Me" and I was flabbergasted, as it's been eons since I heard the proper version with all the lyrics instead of the, um, "remix". And wow, the dude in that song is a total douchenozzle.
