Good morning/afternoon, Darryl!
Avatar 11:02am worldsworstrecords:

hey Hopey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Hopey Sockmonkey:

What a great idea for a show! I loved The Prisoner back in the day (even though I was too young to fully understand it).
Avatar 11:04am worldsworstrecords:

I think that you'll enjoy the next few hours then!
Avatar 11:06am MarkTime:

Even having been a fan of Secret Agent Man at age 5, the transition to The Prisoner took a bit of time but am glad I gave it a chance
Avatar 11:07am worldsworstrecords:

It's one of those programmes that constantly surprises and rewards
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am WR:

I am not a number! How do you take your tea?
Avatar 11:07am worldsworstrecords:

hey hey WR!
Avatar 11:08am Flapjack Charlie:

Welcome, one and all, to our own little Village
  11:08am mzmz:

i am reading about it. i wasn't familiar with the british series.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Feldpausch:

I've never seen The Prisoner. But I've seen The Saint, The Fugitive, The Persuaders. Should I seek this out?
Avatar 11:09am Flapjack Charlie:

very different to the Australian series 'Prisoner'!
Avatar 11:10am Flapjack Charlie:

Hi Feldpausch!
Avatar 11:10am Flapjack Charlie:

Oh goodness, yes! If you like the others you'll love The Prisoner
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Feldpausch:

Hello Flapjack Charlie!
  11:13am mzmz:

i love to have can foods with bicycle logos on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am WR:

YES Feldpausch. Yes! This is reminding me that I need to re-watch the series again, for the 5th or 6th time.

I saw most of the episodes when they were first broadcast in the US. Fundamental in my development, I think.
Avatar 11:14am Number Six and a bit:

...a very different take on the theme tune, released as a single here in the UK in 1967
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Feldpausch:

You've convinced me, WR! Thanks!
Avatar 11:31am Number Six and a bit:

I adore this piece!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Mr Fab:

Hey, all! One of those shows I've heard OF for ages, but don't think I've seen. (Now 'The Avengers," on the other hand...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am WR:

@11:02 @Hopey Sockmonkey: Listening to one of the clips played when he said something like "I am my own man " I thought, hmmm, with this in mind perhaps if I re-watch again I might get more insight, particularly in the final episode.
Avatar 11:33am Number Six and a bit:

hey Mr F! Hope you're enjoying the sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am solo mon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Hopey Sockmonkey:

@WR Yeah, that last episode is crazy. And very groovy, if I recall correctly.
Avatar 11:36am Number Six and a bit:

It's a fascinating place, even today, although most of the houses are either facades or hotel suites
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am WR:

I'm also great fan of The Avengers but The Prisoner IMHO is more than classy clever sexy entertainment. Or maybe not...
Avatar 11:37am Number Six and a bit:

the Avengers is huge fun, but very silly and campy. the Prisoner is ART!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Hopey Sockmonkey:

ooo, I love this one.
Avatar 11:45am Number Six and a bit:

:-)
Avatar 11:46am MarkTime:

I hear this was the show's main theme in the UK, while we in US heard as the music coming out of the post-credits commercials
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Greg from ZONE 5:

Good morning good morning good morning! And what a lovely day it is…
  11:47am mzmz:

its season I on tubitv.com
Avatar 11:47am Number Six and a bit:

There were two different themes in the UK, Mark. that was the second one used, The first season had a different theme.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm joe:

Hey ya Greg. It's a beautiful place but there seems something a bit off.
Avatar 12:03pm Fox:

DUUUUUDE.

As someone with the first season Secret Agent themesong as my ringtone, this show is the best thing I've ever heard.
Avatar 12:03pm Number Six and a bit:

Fox! How lovely! Thank you so much :-)
Avatar 12:05pm Fox:

There's a gawd awful documentary on Prime about The Prisoner. I couldn't get through it. HOWEVER, there's a really goooood documentary on youtube: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 12:06pm Number Six and a bit:

Oh really? I may have to look that Prime one up...
Avatar 12:06pm MarkTime:

Orange alert!
Avatar 12:06pm Fox:

It's got interviews with everyone BUT McGoohan, but worth it.

(It solidifies my personal choice of episode order, omitting Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darling.)

The big balloon used to scare me when it went after him.

Number 2:
A man like you could make a difference if elected to such a position. Well, do you intend to run?

Number 6:
Like hell. First chance I get...
Avatar 12:15pm Fox:

The first thing I did in shutdown was watch through the entirety of Secret Agent / Danger Man for the first time, right into a rewatch of The Prisoner. It was incredibly rewarding!! Like watching The Wizard of Oz for the first time. It lead me to understand a lot more of the subtleties and strangeness of The Village than I ever did before, now seeing what it was subverting.
Avatar 12:16pm Number Six and a bit:

That's so cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Rich in Washington:

This music makes me want to exercise for some reason. Now THERE'S an absurd notion!
Avatar 12:16pm Number Six and a bit:

I'm due a rewatch marathon soon
Avatar 12:16pm Number Six and a bit:

Hi Rich!
Avatar 12:17pm Ursula1000:

Hello Prisoners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm joe:

I watched all of the Prisoner early last year. I still have not watched Secret AGent. I just started the Invaders for the fist time so maybe when I'm done with that.
Avatar 12:18pm Number Six and a bit:

Hi U1k!
Avatar 12:18pm Number Six and a bit:

watch out for those crooked pinkie fingers, joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Rich in Washington:

Hi #6+!
Hi everbody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Rich in Washington:

I started rewatching The Prisoner again at the start of the pandemic and then it got to real for me and I had to stop.
Avatar 12:20pm Number Six and a bit:

I can understand that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm solo mon:

Perfect soundtrack for writing day!!!
Avatar 12:21pm Number Six and a bit:

I aim to please!
Avatar 12:23pm Ursula1000:

There's this super cheesy 12" from the 90s which of course I own that samples The Prisoner called FAB feat (wait for it)...M.C. No.6! haha Very much of the time but still hilarious. www.youtube.com...
Avatar 12:23pm Number Six and a bit:

Hahahaha! that's coming up soon, U1k!
Avatar 12:23pm Ursula1000:

ooooh nice!
Avatar 12:24pm Number Six and a bit:

...well, in about 40 minutes or so!
Avatar 12:24pm Fox:

When I was in highschool, I had a Prisoner outfit I'd wear to school. Khaki pants, dark blue turtleneck, keds, black jacket with white piping, and even a pennyfarthing pin I got at a fleamarket. Nobody at my school got it.

EXCEPT my Russian teacher. He also taught German. It all makes sense now.

I'm honestly pretty sure that's the only reason I passed Russian class. I was AWFUL at it.
Avatar 12:26pm Number Six and a bit:

that's incredible, Fox. Bravo!
Avatar 12:32pm Fox:

If anyone needs incentive to watch Danger Man (which is on the Internet Archive for free, btw), here is one of my favorite moments:

www.instagram.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Greg from ZONE 5:

@Fox: We would have been best friends in high school.
Avatar 12:37pm Fox:

Oh! Greg! I finally started reading Rusty Brown! At first I was honestly slightly bored, but man, it does what I love best about comics; it uses the medium in a way that only comics can.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Feldpausch:

I haven't started Rusty Brown yet, but will get to it. Has anybody read Building Stories?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Oh yeah, it's just SO much to take in. Glad you're sticking with it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Feldpausch:

I like to buy books and let them sit for a little bit while I imagine what's inside. Sometimes they give me inspiration without even being opened first
Avatar 12:46pm Fox:

Feldpaush: WOW! No, but it sounds amazing. Like Rusty Brown crossed with House of Leaves or Sabine and Griffin.
Avatar 12:52pm Fox:

Greg: Let's be best friends NOW! I'm fully vaccinated! And I only have limited time left in my apartment. We should hang sooooon!
  12:54pm mzmz:

I liked no talk over interruption worked very well with these music.

Avatar 1:13pm Ursula1000:

the late 80's early 90's UK house was all over these vintage show samples like Magic Roundabout, Thunderbirds, etc...
Avatar 1:13pm Number Six and a bit:

absolutely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm joe:

Oh I'll have to look for those.
Avatar 1:14pm Number Six and a bit:

..and, of course, the Charlie Says infomercials from the early 1970s
Avatar 1:15pm Ursula1000:

The Prodigy! Totally! Classic

@joe looks like the same outfit FAB did the Thunderbirds one too haha www.youtube.com...
Avatar 1:17pm Fox:

Joe: There's an incredible electronic "album" of the Keys to time Doctor Who storyline turned into electronic music. By, I think, "DJ Davros"? I found it many years ago on Soulseek or something It's GREAT.
Avatar 1:20pm Fox:

One song for each of the episodes. It's wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Little Danny:

McKern was, I think, most viewers' fave #6. Close call for me though was Peter Wyngarde in classic "effete villain" mode. Some great, amazingly over-the-top acting in this show.
Avatar 1:23pm Number Six and a bit:

I knew Leo McKern and his wife, Jane. Lovely couple
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Little Danny:

Really?! That's fantastic.
