Options March 26, 2021: Incredibly Strange Music Vol. 2 - Chapter 1: Jello Biafra pt. 33 pg. 42 (Black Psychedelia + Celebrities Gone Wrong)
Things that I'm skipping in this part of the chapter: The section on dirty humor records, the section on cop killing songs, political songs by Nirvana and L7, and a couple other things mentioned here in passing ...just cause I don't feel like it, plus I wan't the main themes to fit within the 2 hour space :) Episode art by Michael Brunelle.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Mr Fab:

"Funky Worm" classic. Those Kriss Kross kids sampled this bit synth for their super big hit.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Otissimo:

Funky Worm, classic. The 7" is special too with it's alternate intro. Nice way to start off the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Mr Fab:

"The section on dirty humor records" er, we WILL be getting to those at a future date, one hopes?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Otissimo:

MB - One day when the borders open and we can schedule time to get shots.
Avatar 2:38pm BC Sterrett:

Thinking of doing a Utah ska show at some point in the future. I run the Utah Ska Preservation Project on Facebook.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Feldpausch:

This is still such a jam
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Otissimo:

It is... one of those super huge commercial 90s songs that still holds up. Classic heavy sound.
Avatar 2:43pm BC Sterrett:

I remember this song well on the radio in those days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Mr Fab:

Yep, remember it well. Guitarist plays on those Public Enemy albums from the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Otissimo:

Feels like 1992. But just checked and it's 1988. Time blurs.
Avatar 2:45pm BC Sterrett:

88? WOw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Feldpausch:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Otissimo:

Makes sense, I was working at a Rainbow Records in the SF bay area in 1988 for a summer.
Avatar 2:56pm BC Sterrett:

My wife says Nimoy is ruining this song... lol
  2:58pm Martinibomb:

My wife is singing along to it heheh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Feldpausch:

This version of Star Trek has a pretty decent bass line
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Otissimo:

Nimoy's 5th album, New World is my fav. Just pulled it out to play this Tuesday on FP. All 5 LPs are gems.
Avatar 3:05pm BC Sterrett:

Love the Nimoy records. "The Way I Feel" might be my fave...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Otissimo:

Oh, that's a good one for sure. I think Mayor of Ma's Cafe really makes it for me on the 5th.
Avatar 3:10pm TDK60:

Hi. I think this the first time I'm in this archive. Got lost wandering around the ship.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Otissimo:

Thanks BC for the Nimoy. Gotta run, catch ya later!
Avatar 3:12pm BC Sterrett:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Rich in Washington:

Hi BC!
Hi everyone!
Avatar 3:45pm BC Sterrett:

Hi Rich!
Avatar 3:45pm BC Sterrett:

Let me know if you haven any celebrity requests Mr. Fab :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Rich in Washington:

I have this weird RFK related LP called Y that has an interview with Sirhan Sirhan, Bobby's last speech and even audio of the assassination. It's done by Doug Moody, who did all those goofy SoCal punk comps on Mystic.
Avatar 3:46pm BC Sterrett:

Oh wow...
Avatar 3:48pm BC Sterrett:

Anyone have opinions about the assassination? I'm of the few who don't believe that Oswald did it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Rich in Washington:

I believe that one of the Oswald clones did it.
Avatar 3:49pm BC Sterrett:

Avatar 3:50pm BC Sterrett:

I still think the driver of the car did it.
Avatar 3:50pm TDK60:

I'm still undecided, BC. Maybe he was set up, or a dupe? // But, I still think the embargo against Cuba should be lifted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm chresti:

Hi BC and lost archivists.
Avatar 3:58pm BC Sterrett:

A lot of this EL record is not PC/appropriate for radio
Avatar 3:58pm BC Sterrett:

Hi Chresti!
Avatar 4:00pm TDK60:

Avatar 4:00pm BC Sterrett:

Thanks for being here. Especially those who lasted! See you next time :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Franco Twinkie:

Hi BC. I enjoyed that nutty segment very much while I was eating lunch.
Avatar 4:01pm Ursula1000:

I don't think William Greer "did it" per se but there are a lot of conspiracies saying he may have been "involved". Him apparently slowing down, etc... who knows! Thanks BC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm chresti:

Oh dear, thank you BC!
Avatar 4:02pm BC Sterrett:

Thanks everyone :) Have a great weekend!
