Good David, thanks - about to add some music to a section of some of my family's home movies from the late 50s. I learned far too late in life that my grandfather and a couple of his friends opened a nightclub in Honduras back then, and that on opening night they danced and lip synced - in drag - to a song from Robert Mitchum's calypso album. I lucked upon a clip of the very event in the 10 hours of footage, and I have the album.

  4:14pm

Mariano, Super 8 hits the nostalgia centre immediately doesn’t it, even if the footage was only shot yesterday. Kodak even tried to get rid of in the late Noughties, but the devotees kept it alive thankfully.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
mariano:

Fredericks: It's pretty damn good, I think, though I'm no Calypso expert. I'm a huge Mitchum fan though. Mr. Fine Wine played a set of Mitchum songs last night. I think the album cover kinda says it all (it looks like he's about to fall drunkenly off that table): www.discogs.com...

Yeah I'm so glad the fans saved Super 8, David. Kodak has made some astoundingly bad decisions in its time. Oh, but wait: just reading that S8 wasn't released till '65, so I don't know what was used for the late-50s footage. Probably regular 8mm it seems. Still looks great.
  4:18pm
David in London:

That is a great cover. Mitchum’s eyelids look even more hooded than usual. Dosed up on rum and calypso.
  4:18pm

Bummer, FONPR. You can remedy your lack of Cut Worms fairly easily, though.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm

That's what I'm guessing, David. Frederick's: I think the whole album is a hoot, in a rum-and-conga-lines, retro 50s sorta way.
