Listener comments!

Tony Coulter:

Hey, all! Today's playlist art is a piece of fabric from the '60s or '70s. Don't know the designer's name.

listener james from westwood:

How do, Tony and all! Watch out for Blue Meanies in that swatch!
Avatar 12:01pm
Tony Coulter:

Ha! Hey, James!
  12:06pm
Dean:

I don't think the designer is either Ron Campbell or Heinz Edelmann, both of whom worked on Yellow Submarine.
Avatar 12:08pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Dean! There's a chance the designer is Japanese, simply because of where (online) I found this image.
  12:10pm
Dean:

By that logic, there's a chance the designer is a dog.
Avatar 12:12pm
Tony Coulter:

Umm, it was a site dedicated to Japanese design. Not dog design.
  12:13pm
Dean:

But on the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog, or a Japanese designer.
Avatar 12:14pm
Tony Coulter:

Well, the person who posted the image said they didn't know who the designer was, so.... I guess it could be a dog.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Cmurtha:

Could be a Japanese dog, Shibas are very popular on the internet these days.

Hi Tony and listeners! Nice start of the show!
Avatar 12:15pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, Cmurtha and Yvang!!

And here is this show's first-ever COVID-19-related track.

I would read a book titled "Lore of he Rugs"

That's the first COVID-19 song that I've ever heard

Tony Coulter:

Hey, Bob!!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:50pm

This one was good though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

I saw a science writer interviewed on "Democracy Now" and she said that we were probably looking at 3 more years of C-19 restrictions to one degree or another. Give it to me straight, doc!

coelacanth∅:

greetings Tony and all
Avatar 12:58pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Bob: What worries me is that I'm starting to adjust to barely ever going out and hardly ever seeing anyone. If this goes on for three years, I'll be a complete hermit by the end (a married hermit, but still).
Avatar 12:58pm
Tony Coulter:

Greets, Coel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

Well, I think that it was inevitable that we would someday all be living like spacemen (i.e. space people) due to advancing technology. This has merely accelerated the process.
  1:04pm
Dean:

I'm all for being a hermit mostly, albeit a married one with two kids and two cats and so not a hermit at all, even if I wanted to be one. But I miss the very few true joys I'd cultivated: swinging by a record store, sitting and reading in a coffee shop, going out to dinner or a show every few months.
Avatar 1:16pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, your list of simple joys pretty much describes my life before the pandemic. I miss that stuff too -- tho I miss restaurants much less than I thought I would....
  1:17pm
Dean:

Prior to Tony's show this a.m. I listened to this: https://vimeo.com/321877684 Not as good as the recording with Jacqueline Humbert and Tom Buckner, but still, good.
  1:19pm
Dean:

I'd started losing interest in dining out regularly some time ago, but an occasional night out is still fun.
Avatar 1:25pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, it's funny: I don't know how to cook beyond the most basic of basic, but I can still make better food than most restaurants around here simply by using good ingredients and non-industrial-grade cooking oils.
  1:30pm
Dean:

And beer. Can't cook without beer. Same here: most times I'm happier with my own prep than some over- or under-salted dish at a restaurant.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
listener james from westwood:

The salt is the real killer on restaurant food, esp. chain-type places.
Avatar 1:34pm
Tony Coulter:

The real killer of restaurant diners, too -- that and sugar and fat.

Yeah, I know, not Tape Hiss Day, but inspired nonetheless. Hiya, Tony, all.

America does indeed eat its young, and inevitably over-salts them in so doing.

Avatar 1:51pm
Tony Coulter:

The rest of today's show will be in the psych/garage vein. Need to get it out of my system.
  1:54pm
Dean:

I thought of Swift when I made that comment, but then like me he was a Dean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
coelacanth∅:

i taught myself how to cook so i could eat delicious food that was good for me; but i enjoy(ed) the ritual and socializing of eating out. also, 50% of my out dining was sushi -which i know i can do, but i don't have "sushi-grade" fish available.
