I was never a big S.D.er, but liked some of their stuff. The Royal Scam album I liked. They did get a lot of play on FM radio back in the '70s-'80s. I got a bit burnt on 'em.

I always liked Steely Dan (guess they tickled my jazz fancy). Didn't get to see them in their heyday. Saw them maybe 5 years ago, with Elvis Costello opening (with a band modeled on the Attractions). Costello just SMOKED them-Dan was lifeless and dull. Oh well..

Blackwater Mountain is a Lovely poem. Pastoral images of memories of desire that was unfulfilled but in retrospect better understood. I have never found much to enjoy in the music of SD. Not that my taste should matter to others.
