And regarding leftism: I think the state of the world has radicalized a lot of folks. - And beet hummus sounds great! It's radical because it's red and beets are a root vegetable :)

We saw Newman speak and perform as part of the New Yorker Festival a few years back. He performed "Sail Away" among other songs. During the Q&A, I asked him how living in Los Angeles had influenced his songwriting. He said that it probably has, but he couldn't explain how.
