On a Billy J comp that came out on CD in the 1990s, you hear the tracking session for "I'm in Love" with Lennon in the studio... Billy J just keeps saying " I just can't hit it, John" or something like that in reference to not being able to sing the notes. Hence why it went to the Fourmost for a single, I guess!
