A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Off to the dentist, maybe I can listen while I get my cleaning. That makes me wonder if there are dentist/doctors offices in the broadcast range that play wfmu. Anyone in the Hudson Valley? You’ll have another client in me, if you do!

@The Oscar, nice! What a great gift. We pass it on our frequent trips from CT to VT. I am a knitter (with a big stash of yarn so I need to stay away.)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 12/28/17 9:51am Ken From Hyde Park:

Fleece fibers wind up in the streams, rivers, lakes and oceans where they get into the food supply. Who knows what the effects of that are?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 12/28/17 9:51am Trouble:

@melinda - I could be wrong , I just remember I scrolled through a ton of comments on a mycology online forum about him as being self-aggrandizing and a a guy who spins a lot of yarns.. but then again.. these were comments on the internet. so a bit unfair of me to judge. but that podcast was amusing and did get me to look into mycology more, so theres that.

I'm reading a playwrights guidebook right now since im in the midst of writing a play, but the novel im cheating on with the guidebook is Robert Coover's Huck Out West, which is supposed to be about Huck Finn as an adult, but it's really about some dark n'gritty dude who bears little resemblance to the original character (he shoots a guy, for fuck's sake). Kind of like Luke Skywalker in the Last Jedi.

the thing is I'm glad we don't do Celcius in the US because it's so easy to get into the negative numbers in celcius... having multiple days have negative temps would be a big downer. 18F still feels like you have something lol

@Mandy I plan on reading Jon Ronson after I finish my Area 51 book.

wade, Thanks - i'll look into it. i liked child of god and really liked all the pretty horses. did not like the road much; and this one, well... as expected the imagery is as good as it gets; the insight to human nature also extraordinary...
- maybe i'm just tired of reading about stupid people with fucked up lives making grave mistakes.

The Creator's master plan seems to have gone about as well this year as most plans do.

Also read 2 books by Ottessa Moshfegh this fall (Eileen & Homesick for Another World). Not sure I get why Eileen was on a literary shortlist. I got bored.

Also..can't really promise that Sutree is full of hope and promise.

meh. it'll warm up to -15.

i'm wondering where my heating oil levels are at. my basement door is frozen shut and being in that basement is not fun to begin with. i guess i should chip at it though, before i'm in trouble.

electric blankets are handy. i had to put one over my car motor a couple times, since i don't have a block heater.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 12/28/17 11:58am coelacanth∅:

Avatar Thu. 12/28/17 11:59am glenn:
