Right - impersonation. Very often typed idiosyncrasies that maybe even the actual person didn't even use or have...
Avatar    Wed. 6/21/17 5:26pm Irwin:

Love ya, Bink! You visited DK's diner with me.

No Wikipedia page for Anthony "Sabu" Ferretti?!?!
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:29pm flashbazbo:

I googled sabu anthony ferretti. The only hits were Irwin playlists.

Laura: That might be his son. I don't think Sabu made it into the internet age.

Michael, I think the closest thing in L.A. might be The Apple Pan.
"since 1947"
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:37pm Laura L:

So his son has followed in his footsteps?

"Also featured was Connie's boyfriend Tony Ferretti gave a short performance as Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Ray Charles, and Frank Sinatra during the 15 minute break between Dionne's and Connie's shows."

Have always liked Anat Cohen's clarinet playing...
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:38pm Dean:

The Pantry downtown has been open "since 1924." Used to be a legit place, but former scumbag mayor Riordan bought it quite some time ago. Could be just a tourist trap these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 6/21/17 5:38pm Michael 98145:

thanks, gz'ette. have to check that out next time we are back down that way
Avatar    Wed. 6/21/17 5:38pm Irwin:

Or that could have been a very early photo of him. Those are some of the singers he impersonated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 6/21/17 5:40pm Alison Porchnik:

Definitely Tony Sr. This is even better: www.youtube.com...
Avatar    Wed. 6/21/17 5:40pm geezerette:

Dean, we ate there a few years ago, it was filthy and roaches crawled across our pancakes! Not kidding!
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:40pm Laura L:

Take a look at that Connie Francis site--there are a couple mentions of Tony F. being her b.f. and performing at her shows 2010.
Avatar    Wed. 6/21/17 5:42pm geezerette:

Michael, The Apple Pan is great. Still family owned, I think.
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:43pm Dean:

Gack. I used to go there, mid-'70s, with high school buddies after we'd make a run to downtown's flower market and deliver the flowers to Culver City. We'd return via downtown, grab breakfast at the Pantry, and head to school by 8:00 a.m.

Drove past Apple Pan zillions of times and yet NEVER WENT.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 6/21/17 5:44pm Michael 98145:

cool, thanks! on W Pico.

Still love Phillipe's. Also family owned. Wooden phone booths still have working phones.
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:49pm Dean:

That was an early female hip-hop group, wasn't it?
     Wed. 6/21/17 5:49pm Listener Robert:

Likely THIS Tony Ferretti?: www.styleentertainment.net...

I wonder if he could've been the opener I saw for Elvis Presley in 1969. But I remember only the 2 pantomimists.
Avatar    Wed. 6/21/17 5:49pm Irwin:

Robert: YES, that's Sabu.
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:50pm Dean:

Damn, Phillipe's mustard is amazing. Gimme a lamb dip with blue cheese, lemonade and a paper straw that won't last.
  Wed. 6/21/17 5:50pm Dean:

For martinis--and we've been here before, geezerette--Musso & Frank.
