Pre-hello, Tony and the future.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:00pm Tony Coulter:

Greets, all!

Today's show will feature the second installment of the best of my basement LPs -- starting around 1:00.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:00pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Carmichael!
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:01pm Dean:

My stomach gurgled in unison with the in-theme, and it all sounded exactly right.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:02pm listener james from westwood:

Good Tuesday, Tony and all!
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:02pm Tony Coulter:

Give the Stomach Some

Heya, Dean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:03pm Cecile:

hola!
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:03pm Tony Coulter:

Greetings, James and Cecile!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:03pm JtotheK:

hi tony, hi everyone.
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:04pm Yvan:

Hiya Tony and listeners! Looking forward to hearing the basement lost sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:04pm JtotheK:

@dean - my stomach also gurgled a moment ago -- when do we record and take this act on the road?
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:04pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there, JtotheK and Yvan!
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:05pm Dean:

@JtotheK: After lunch?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/30/17 12:05pm doctorjazz:

Basement discs-sounds good!
Hi all.
(I can belch in time if you all need a rhythms section...)
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:07pm Tony Coulter:

Ahoy, doctorjazz!
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:07pm Dean:

There is that Roger Waters/Ron Geesin record, "Music from the Body." Maybe we should form a tribute band.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:10pm Tony Coulter:

I listen to "Music from the Body" on road trips sometimes -- have it on cassette.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/30/17 12:10pm doctorjazz:

Body-sounds Meta!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:10pm northguineahills:

Great start!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:10pm JtotheK:

and I seem to remember reading that Richard D. James (ie Aphex Twin) would record 'body sounds' - though who knows if that's true or misinformation I read some time ago.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:10pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, NGH! And greets!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:11pm JtotheK:

for the tribute band - of course the outfits would have to be the same as what Slim Goodbody wore...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:13pm JtotheK:

also, never heard 'Music of the Body' - will add to the list of stuff to check out ... someday!
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:15pm Dean:

Alexandre St.-Onge, a musician from Montreal (Klaxon Gueule, Shalabi Effect, etc.), recorded an album consisting of noises produced as he slept with the microphone in his mouth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:17pm JtotheK:

that also will have to be added to the list of stuff to check out. thanks!
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:19pm Dean:

Don't miss Klaxon Gueule, either. Marvelous stuff.

He must have one tolerant gag reflex...
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:21pm Dean:

On hold now with my doctor's office. Hold music is a perky Spyrogyra-esque sax and electric keyboard samba thing. All of the agents are busy serving other customers, but my patience is appreciated.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:23pm Tony Coulter:

Oh, the patience of patients.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:24pm coelacanth∅:

hello Tony and others
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:24pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, coelacanth∅!
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:26pm listener james from westwood:

An accurate version of "The Matrix" would feature millions of pod-humans all on hold w/ doctors' offices and health insurers rather than just floating in goo.
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:28pm Mark Williams:

No label on this Sara Galan track's compilation, Tony? Hi, btw. Great opening set so far.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:32pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Mark!

I don't see any label anywhere. Checked on discogs and they list it as not having a label, so..... Seems weird, I know.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:36pm Tony Coulter:

I believe it was released in conjunction with some kind of festival -- not sure, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:40pm Webhamster Henry:

The Free design is always the right segue!
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:40pm Tony Coulter:

I like the Free Design a lot -- but I must say, "Kites Are Fun" is one of the worst album titles ever.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:41pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Webham!
  Tue. 5/30/17 12:41pm Dean:

According to this guy, one of the contributors to the record, the selections were chosen for Feria de Arte Múltiple Estampa 2012 (Estampa Multiple Arts Fair 2012) in Madrid. (Aptly, this guy's contribution is titled "Reflux.") He adds, "The cd has two editions, collector and normal..."

Loving this playlist. Mad props to Tony Coulter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:55pm Cecile:

Is this the former Susan Jacks from the Poppy family, the saddest group ever?
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 12:57pm Tony Coulter:

Don't think it's her, no.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:58pm Cecile:

She had the same kind of hopeless vibe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 12:59pm Cecile:

that short yellow was a real burner I hadn't heard before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 1:00pm Carmichael:

Short Yellow: Gary Thorp (organ), Leonard "Ting" Hunter (lead guitar), Verne Schnaidt (rhythm guitar), Brad Wilson (bass), Gary Howe (drums, 1967), Craig Root (drums), Sandy Gurley (vocals)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 1:02pm JtotheK:

looking forward to another segment of Tony's (Possibly Weird) Basement LPs!
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 1:04pm Tony Coulter:

As best as I can make out, the "story" of this Nieland song is this: He listened to an album and it convinced him to break up with his girlfriend.
Avatar    Tue. 5/30/17 1:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

TEE SEE!

OTHERS!
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 1:05pm Tony Coulter:

Turnip! Turnip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 1:05pm JtotheK:

I recently procured 'The Acid Archives Volume 2' book (it's been reprinted!) and the world of weird private press LPs is one I'm (trying to) learn about. this segment I expect to help further my education.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 1:08pm Cecile:

REV!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 1:10pm Cecile:

These guys probably wore out a few copies of Pablo Cruise's A Place in the Sun...
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 1:14pm Tony Coulter:

@ JtotheK: The Nieland might be listed in Acid Archives -- don't think anything else I'm playing today is, though. There are truly an infinite number of private press/ small local label releases out there.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 1:14pm listener james from westwood:

Sweet Easy Street!
Avatar    Tue. 5/30/17 1:14pm V Priceless:

Little Pleasure was very pleasurable.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 1:23pm Tony Coulter:

Yeah, that's a really nice track. According to the liners notes, all musicians were between 16 and 18.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/30/17 1:29pm doctorjazz:

Really...impressive!
  Tue. 5/30/17 1:32pm Psychspaniolos:

Ciao ciao, coelacanth∅!
Avatar    Tue. 5/30/17 1:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

bloody meetings taking me from Coulter's basement.... or, would it be considered BAD FORM to sit at a conference table with headphones on, completely oblivious to the dozen people talking about Very Serious Things?
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 1:52pm Tony Coulter:

Better get to your meeting. Blood is serious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 1:53pm Webhamster Henry:

Jealous - I don't even have a basement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/30/17 1:54pm Webhamster Henry:

OTOH, instead of sheetrock, I have cassettes.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 1:54pm listener james from westwood:

Taking this show mobile on the cellphone, so thanking you in advance for the third hour if I don't get back in time! Great basement segment this week!

Thanks, Mauri! (And ... greets!)

In Brooklyn, I had three storage cages. Here (Kingston) I am kind of living in a storage compartment. But lot of discs did not make it past the Great Purge of 2010.

Hi, Cheyenne! You won't get any disagreement from me. I'm a huge Pseudo Code fan.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 2:22pm Tony Coulter:

Unfortunately, this Pseudo Code comp is limited to 250 copies -- so, it's already almost sold out, even though it just came out.
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 2:24pm Cheyenne:

dang! lucky you!
Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 2:25pm Tony Coulter:

I'll be playing it a lot on shows to come -- it's really great.

There are still some copies on discogs: www.discogs.com...
  Tue. 5/30/17 2:33pm Psychspaniolos:

Avatar Tue. 5/30/17 2:35pm Tony Coulter:

Moğollar is from Turkey, so maybe there are some related influences at work.

I didn't know that. Of course there are influences at work
