coel and geez glad to have you, loving the Donald drawings
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:29pm fred:

By the way, I think the key lesson of the Gospel of Mars is that one should support the station
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:35pm fred:

Wonderful, the pipa is probably my favorite instrument
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:35pm weinstein:

Gospel of Mars and Aaron Moore are getting a lot of love!
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:36pm weinstein:

This is kind of a pip display as she pulls out several different ones (and explains them)
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:37pm weinstein:

*pipa of course
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:37pm geezerette:

Love the drawings, just went to check them out geezerette.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:49pm geezerette:

Thanks Doc. I'd be happy if his mommy sentenced him to a permanent time out. Stand in the corner without your toys for the next 30 years.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:50pm geezerette:

This music is so beautiful.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 2:58pm fred:

Don't worry, geezerette, he won't be at the white house for long. Once Jeff Koons has remodeled it, that name won't hold for long. And that address: why is it 1600, it should be 1! And of course Pence-Ivana avenue has to change too: do you think he'll stay in a street named for his butler and an ex?
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:04pm geezerette:

Funny!!! Nice to meet another non - lover of Koons.
BTW, Pence looks exactly like a Meerkat.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:09pm fred:

I once saw a solo Jen Shyu show were she gave background about each instrument she played, most from Taiwan, one from Timor. Well, not really all of them, she didn't say a word about the piano
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:19pm weinstein:

Probably because the piano is the tyrannical beast of all instruments that obliterated half of our musical language (and I'm a piano player!)
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:19pm fred:

I saw 75 dollar bill a few months ago, a memorable set. Too bad I'll be at a dance show again next week
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 2/8/17 3:24pm Scraps deSelby:

I am the original non-lover of koons. Well, at least way way back. Since he coopted someone else's art and when he objected Koons sneered that the other artist wasn't really art, and when Koons coopted it that made it art. I didn't like that guys art, but that schoolboy, lofty retort was aggravating. It was Art as class fighting.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:24pm weinstein:

75 $ Bill is expanding its personnel beyond Che and Rick B. You didn't hear it here first, but watch this thing grow. Great project.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 2/8/17 3:26pm Scraps:

Going to make lunch. Still listening!
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:27pm geezerette:

Hey Scraps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 2/8/17 3:28pm Scraps:

This Bartlett = pretty fabulous.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:49pm weinstein:

Thanks you all. Martin Bartlett should be better known. You can hear the Pauline O and David Behrman influence yes?
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:53pm geezerette:

Same wavelength for sure. Gorgeous. It's complex, but every element is so discreet and precise!
Avatar Wed. 2/8/17 3:53pm Doug Schulkind:

Burning Water, a song about Cleveland's Cuyahoga River, circa 1969. Good day Ridgewoodians!
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:54pm Webhamster Henry:

Sure. Did any of you get to the Dr. PO memorial events at the Park Ave Armory on Monday?
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:55pm weinstein:

I did not and have not heard much about it though some great people were part of it.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:57pm geezerette:

Oh,interesting. Thanks Doug.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 2/8/17 3:57pm coelacanth∅:

There is a Cleveland brewery that make a nice IPA called Burning River.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:58pm Webhamster Henry:

I helped phone in David Arner's pieces for the memorial from a hospital here in Kingston.

high C!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 2/8/17 3:58pm doctorjazz:

Thanks for the fine live music, David.
(Randy Newman did a song about the river as well)
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 3:58pm weinstein:

Bartlett was year in Vancouver region Canada after growing up in England and I need to check if he has any history with Cleveland.
Avatar Wed. 2/8/17 4:00pm Doug Schulkind:

A History With Cleveland is the name of my new novel.

Thanks David, wonderful show. :D
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 4:01pm weinstein:

Going to wrap up with short shout out for Bill Hellerman so see you all next time and thanks always.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 2/8/17 4:01pm coelacanth∅:

- and scrolling up i see and i agree about the piano. the tempered scale is a compromise and "music theory" the way it's taught is bullshit. it basically says white europeans' way is the only way.
...at least that's how it seems to me.
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 4:04pm weinstein:

OK! one week all piano music!
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 4:06pm Webhamster Henry:

You can do Michael Harrison's harmonic piano pieces!
Avatar    Wed. 2/8/17 4:07pm fred:

Thanks, excellent show again
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 2/8/17 4:12pm coelacanth∅:
