Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:01pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hi Irwin! What's it like broadcasting from 37 miles south of Death Valley?

And hi everyone!
  Wed. 12/21/16 3:02pm Hoboken Jack:

I feel like I should request something from the original cast recording of Hair.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:02pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Irwin - the App is showing a video stream - are you planning a stream today?
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:03pm Irwin:

I plan to stream about 45 minutes after my first cup of coffee.

Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:12pm Passaic River Blues:

This is really nice. ... What kind of activities do you think they have at Camp Irwin, 37 miles below Death Curse Valley?
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:13pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Canoeing and lanyard-making, no doubt.
  Wed. 12/21/16 3:14pm berbo:

@Irwin - is that a current picture? You don't look a day over 9 Million years old!
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:15pm Alison Porchnik:

Geological age 12 million years? Ha! Clearly this sign is a quaint relic of the Established Scientific Fact era.
  Wed. 12/21/16 3:16pm JakeGould:

Happy shortest day of the year!
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:17pm Passaic River Blues:

@Bronwyn: hahaha, yeah. Definitely.

Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:18pm Parq:

Camp Irwin ... what would we do at Camp Irwin? Oh, I scarcely know where to begin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/21/16 3:18pm Michael 98145:

axial tilt is the reason for the season
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:20pm Passaic River Blues:

Per Wikipedia, John Tout was the keyboardist on "Prologue".
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:22pm Irwin:

Thanks, PRB. There was a previous incarnation of Renaissance with two Yardbirds, but the entire band left to be replaced by a new band, who kept the name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/21/16 3:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My dad mentioned this band once. It was a triple bill of Lettuce, Turnip and Pea.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:26pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hell yeah, everything us 22-year-olds say IS true.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:27pm Irwin:

Thus it is demonstrated.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:31pm Irwin:

Vanishing Twin is the Band Who Would be Broadcast.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:33pm Passaic River Blues:

Yeah, I hear that! Similar atmosphere. Need to check out.
  Wed. 12/21/16 3:35pm Ted:

  Wed. 12/21/16 3:36pm Laura L:

I was thinking that sounded like Broadcast. Hi Irwin and Camp Irwinners.

Can't wait to see Screaming Females at Monty!!!
  Wed. 12/21/16 3:46pm outofluck70:

why are failed attempts at jokes better than the actual joke? Irwin's start of the explanation of Monty Hall made me wonder :)
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:49pm Irwin:

Trust me, it was a great joke, but it fell apart before I could sputter out the sixth word.
Wed. 12/21/16 3:49pm Tommy Jack Haynes:

..and I LOVE the Renaissance of the 70s ..the band Renaissance ..not a renaissance movement in the 70s which didn't happen as far as I know. However , had there been one I would have been fully behind it and the band
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:50pm redkayak:

I like this. Somehow reminds me of King Crimson....
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 3:51pm glenn:

is it the pretension?
  Wed. 12/21/16 3:54pm Jack:

I think it's the energy.

Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 4:30pm Passaic River Blues:

@redkayak: I don't think any connection was mentioned. Sam just talked about his musical tutelage in 1950s Dallas and Tom, also a Texan, was an enthusiastic audience. It was great.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 4:32pm redkayak:

@PRB - Thanks! Enjoying this a lot...
  Wed. 12/21/16 4:34pm Jack:

Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 4:44pm melinda:

hi Carm.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 4:47pm Irwin:

Janis Ian's 1st three albums were produced by Shadow Morton, a very strange cat. He also produced "Leader of the Pack" and a bunch of Shangri-Las hits.
  Wed. 12/21/16 4:47pm Ken:

Let it eat?

KeefRichards:...'that was just that that time: Let It - Just Something'...
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:02pm Passaic River Blues:

Never knew the guy behind "Wooly Bully" was a philosopher who spoke in the lush tones of a Dallas pool hall hustler. Caviar and nitty gritty, indeed. CAPITAL JOB, TW!
Wed. 12/21/16 5:03pm Listening Out There:

Dean: Yeah, that. Sounds like what Bob and Ray used to intro one of their standard bits, "Mary Backstage, Noble Wife." No biggy...
  Wed. 12/21/16 5:03pm Dean:

Love B&R.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:04pm melinda:

Thanks for playing these Music Factory shows, Irwin.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The special Nobel Prize in NittyGritty. Texas is kinda the place - ThirdCoast & all that...
Wed. 12/21/16 5:04pm Listening Out There:

(Heck, if Bob and Ray took over the program, it was probably the same piece of tape or whatever...)
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:06pm Passaic River Blues:

Get the hell out of here! Mighty Sparrow? Please make it happen.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:06pm Webhamster Henry:

Mighty Sparrow! He needs to update "Wanted: Dead or Alive!"
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:08pm geezerette:

Mighty Sparrow! That would be so GREAT.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:08pm Irwin:

I've scheduled Sparrow four times, and it hasn't happened yet. Better happen soon, he's 80 and not in good health. Lane Steinberg promised to get him safely down here.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:09pm geezerette:

fingers & toes all crossed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/21/16 5:10pm Michael 98145:

that would be great.
Wed. 12/21/16 5:10pm Listening Out There:

Bobby Previte is the drummer on this Charlie Hunter. On Facebook, Previte once posted a picture of a royalty check from Spotify. I think the amount was 14 cents...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/21/16 5:11pm Michael 98145:

"Everybody Has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Mouth" indeed.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:11pm Irwin:

Hunter has great bands. And he's a great player. And the best titles!
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:13pm geezerette:

This piece reminds me of Napenthe's in Big Sur.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...indeed great title - like - 1/2 Monk & 1/2 Mingus...don't ask me to explain that...
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...tho' musically thot it like SRV w/ Zappa's band...don't ask anybody to explain that...

Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:23pm glenn:

thanks, aztec two step, for satisfying my byrds craving.
  Wed. 12/21/16 5:23pm flashbazbo:

what aztec two step would I have heard on FM in the 70s? I don't think it was this one or that dean moriarty one either
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:25pm glenn:

Love this band. First four albums, anyway.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Huh - this sound Zappaersque as well - which not especially expected of Very English Prog...Everything will sound like Zappa to me today...You so good DJ IC...
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:43pm Irwin:

Richard Sinclair: bass and lead vocal. Then moved on to Hatfield & the North.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:43pm Carmichael:

After Richard Sinclair left, they lost their vocal and bass sound, in my opinion.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:43pm Irwin:

Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:44pm Irwin:

But the Hatfields fill that void, plus you get Pip Pyle on drums.
Avatar Wed. 12/21/16 5:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

That were just about as good as the bYRds. Jerry ain't bad on that pedal steel. I still never sat @ such a contraption...
