Hiya, Fabio, and those for whom failure is just another way forward.
Avatar Thu. 10/6/16 3:12pm βrian:

The artist's name seems a bit suggestive.
Avatar Thu. 10/6/16 3:13pm βrian:

@sem: "Forward!" is the WI state motto ... so yeah, that works — at least for the past few years.
Avatar Thu. 10/6/16 3:17pm Sem Chumbo:

Thank you, βrian. Like to keep up on state mottoes in case of snap quizzes, which here are government mandated.

What the gravy? That hurricane looks like it's going to make a loop-de-loop and hit Florida a second time on Wednesday or so.
Avatar Thu. 10/6/16 3:27pm Sem Chumbo:

Been watching that, @KfHP. Perhaps Hurricane Nicole is messing with Matt.

Favio would you be interested in doing a career day at I S228 David a booty school sometime this year?
Thu. 10/6/16 3:41pm Joey the Sleaze:

Oops!! Typo: Fabio! Boody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:42pm northguineahills:

@Fred: The interview went fine, although I was a bit nervous. I'll find out next week whether I make it to the next round of interviews. Thanks!

I hope so, ngh!
Avatar Thu. 10/6/16 3:43pm Fabio:

@Joey: Are you serious? In gravesend Brooklyn? I went to Jr. High there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:44pm Cecile:

I was going, what the hell is a boody school, but then I looked it up. It's the dude's name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:45pm fred:

Hey Cecile! I'm thinking of getting that Twin Cities premium this time, did you listen to it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:46pm Cecile:

what premium is that?
Avatar    Thu. 10/6/16 3:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

this here thing yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:48pm fred:

@NGH: I'll keep fingers crossed (though maybe not when typing). I hope you're not in the hurricane's path
@Cecile: Sam Segal's "Passive/Aggressive–Music From the Twin Cities Underground, 1978-2015", from the drummer stream
Thu. 10/6/16 3:49pm Joey the Sleaze:

@Fabio a few years back I called in to Clay's show and mentioned I was going to teach there and you shared some stories about Boody in the 70s.

We have a career day in March or so and if you are interested we would love having an alumnus of Boody to talk to students about owning a business in NYC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:49pm Cecile:

No, I gotta check that out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:50pm northguineahills:

I'm 35km from the coast, so, I should get hurricane force winds, but no more then 135k/h.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 3:58pm fred:

@Cecile: No, there's not much info on the premium page. From his marathon playlists: Suicide Commandos, Skoal Kodiak, Ghostband, Larry Wish, Knife World, STNNNG, Cows, Hüsker Dü.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:00pm Polyus:

Larry Wish, huh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:00pm fred:

@RTD: I hope it's a dynamic ribbon, Justice Yeldham style
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:02pm Cecile:

OK. Skoal Kodiak is Freddy Votel from the Cow's band. The lead singer used to sing through a contact mic in a bleach bottle. STNNG were pretty intense. Haven' heard Ghostband or Larry Wish, don't remember if I heard Knife World.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:03pm Cecile:

sorry Cows. Not the Cow's
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:04pm Polyus:

Knife World were pretty fun. Good live band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:04pm Cecile:

Suicide Commandos have a couple of really good songs, but I think I liked them better when I was in Michigan. I got here and they embodied that whole "oh you had to be there back in the day" vibe of this place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:05pm Cecile:

Were Knife World a kind of dance/new wave band with a lot of noise? Co-ed? If so, then I might have seen them. Skoal Kodiak were also fun, if I didn't mention that earlier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:07pm Cecile:

Is Sara Johnson the band on there, fred? I remember seeing them a couple of times and really liking them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:07pm fred:

"Back in the day" usually just means "back when I was young". Every day is a future "back in the day". I might as well load up on more of these, since mine where in the dreary 80's and I was too broke to enjoy them
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:07pm Polyus:

They were a guitar & drums duo at first, then added a bass player later. Really good players, they had a strong hint of both boogie and Meat Puppets, only even more spazzy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:08pm Polyus:

(all dudes)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:09pm Cecile:

OH. I remember them now. Roaratorio put out their record. I remember getting an MP3 of a song from that and liking that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:09pm Polyus:

Yep, he did. Fantastic 3-D packaging job.
Avatar Thu. 10/6/16 4:09pm Brian Turner:

Danny Fields and filmmaker Brendan Toller are on Gaylord Fields' show this Sunday 8-10pm ET.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:10pm fred:

@Cecile: No idea. A quick playlist search came up empty, but that doesn't mean much
Avatar    Thu. 10/6/16 4:10pm mariano:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:11pm redkayak:

Giant is a great flick....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:11pm Cecile:

that's fine, Fred. I think you would enjoy the commandos as they inform a lot of future TC bands.
Thu. 10/6/16 4:12pm Dave in Vermont on the phone:

Giant night be read as an outcome of There Will Be Blood
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:14pm fred:

@Cecile: Nate K's opening song (and source for his show's name) is by them. That's all I know
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:18pm fred:

@Cecile and Polyus: Maybe one of you knows this DJ. For all I know, maybe one of you *is* this DJ
  Thu. 10/6/16 4:20pm mosquito:

Just watched Danny Says recently on cable and if you loved the book "Please kill me" you will dig this. Total New York curmudgeon...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:24pm Cecile:

no, I'm no secret DJ here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:25pm fred:

I might be seeing a documentary about Magma tomorrow. The screening doubles as the director's birthday party, so I don't know whether I'll actually see the movie
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:25pm Cecile:

Oh, Burn it Down is my favorite Suicide Commandos song. Cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:27pm Polyus:

@fred - don't even recognize him from his profile pick, but I don't get out as much these days. Pic was taken in a St. Paul record store though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:28pm fred:

@Polyus: I think he wouldn't recognize you from your profile pic either
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/6/16 4:30pm Polyus:

Heh, his old profile pic, that is. Different one now. I should listen to that show, but Monday is an activity night for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:31pm fred:

@Cecile: by now it's kind of like my Sunday morning theme (well it's actually noon here, but noon is morning to me on Sundays)
Avatar    Thu. 10/6/16 4:36pm mariano:

Wonderful noise!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/6/16 4:41pm fred:

@Polyus: I have never heard his show: I might be awake in that 3-6am range once in a while, but the neighbors would call the cops right away (headphones are not really an option because I only have one functional ear)

interesting guy : "Kent Tankred is a prominent name in sound art. Hailing from Stockholm, he was the president of the famous Fylkingen society between 1993-98, and forms Sons of God with Leif Elggren. He is known for his circuit bent instruments that are represented in the form of collages, sound installations and recordings. Kent's self-built apparatus will be an integral part of his live show at NZZN. Coinciding with this peformance, DE PLAYER will be presenting a new limited Kent Tankred record as part of their 'Pour Vous' series."

Clever how Boyd and Frank included those "pesudo-skipping-record" sounds in their track
