Right out the gate it is proven—I am a better engineer when stoned.

Blaze it, William
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 12:11am Listener Howard in Portland:

Always exciting when I can actually listen live instead of via the archive, for some reason!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:12am Wm.:

Nah...trying a diff. approach tonight ...so dark, so cold, so sober
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:13am Wm.:

@Listener Howard in Portland This show is an of-the-moment action, if I may be so bold. I always, always encourage bands to play LIVE for that very reason. ...
  Wed. 9/7/16 12:15am Dean:

Bands *always* play live. Trouble is, sometimes we listen dead.
  Wed. 9/7/16 12:15am hola-soymilk:

I take what I can get in terms of mcoq
  Wed. 9/7/16 12:16am hola-soymilk:

Was that a dorkthrone ref? I hate you
  Wed. 9/7/16 12:17am hola-soymilk:

Nvm I'm thinking 2 old 2 cold
  Wed. 9/7/16 12:17am hola-soymilk:

I'm tired and shitty
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:20am Wm.:

@hola-soymilk Yes, "Transilvanian Television" ...
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:24am Wm.:

Sorry, that was "Transilvanian Big Brother" to be more precise
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:25am Wm.:

"All I need are [blast beats] and a cool buzz."
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:26am Wm.:

@hola-soymilk ...Are you shitting a lot? Did you mean that literally?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:26am JayD:

Holy hell, I'll bet Vaarherre are a real mindfuck live.
  Wed. 9/7/16 12:28am hola-soymilk:

No not literally!!!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:31am Wm.:

@JayD I'm not sure Vaarherre ever played a show, maybe. That tape is on cocainacopia, not sure but all those releases/bands are pretty out there....
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:46am Wm.:

I broke my "never answer the phone" rule, and I deeply regret it. There is no one who calls who is ever a) interested in this program, specifically, and b) is not a tedious alcoholic, or C) making a fucking request ... Message board people, the phones are for call-in shows!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 12:49am JayD:

You tell 'em, Wm. Berger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 12:54am Listener Howard in Portland:

Sorry Wm., I thought I was calling JM in the AM. I get the programs confused sometimes.
  Wed. 9/7/16 1:00am sara:

a swarm of tedious alcoholics?

that's why i only drink alone

idea for the staion at large: keep doing what you are doing
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 1:05am Listener Howard in Portland:

One of these days, that call will be an emergency that only you can help with. And that person will die.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 9/7/16 1:06am cory:

although, i am wondering how dragon warrior didn't make it onto your premium
  Wed. 9/7/16 1:07am Dean:

Fuck Alexander Graham Bell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 1:07am Listener Howard in Portland:

You should totally post your mobile so drunk people won't have to call the station!
  Wed. 9/7/16 1:08am Dean:

Right. Phones don't ask questions. Why should we answer them?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:15am JayD:

Remind me never to cross you.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:17am mariano:

Hey William, everybody! Totally spaced on the fact that it's Tues night/Wed morning, and I was like Hm. Let's see what's on FMU tonight... jackpot!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:19am Wm.:

@JayD: You'd have to try awful hard to do so. Sloppy, pushy, arrogant drunks press all my buttons. That's why I don't hang in bars too often. #nyclife ;)
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:23am Wm.:

@cory: Dragon Warrior? music's good eh? My videogame music selections were pretty random, just based on what I had liked & acquired over the years; I'm far from expert, esp. seeing as I don't really play the games....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 9/7/16 1:34am cory:

@Wm: if you have the time check it out
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 9/7/16 1:36am cory:

xkay, i have to hit the rack
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 9/7/16 1:36am cory:

nini, hail satan?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:36am mariano:

Even though each game has a soundtrack (at least I think they all do), the GTA games have always had a crazy selection of all different genres of music on their radio stations, with guest DJs like Iggy Pop, Keith Morris, Lee Scratch Perry, fuckin' Kenny Loggins of all people. Lots more. Have a good night, @cory!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:36am Wm.:

Have a good stretch, thx
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 1:41am Listener Howard in Portland:

I really like the music from, I think it's from, KIRBY?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:42am Wm.:

Kirby games have some of the finest music ;) ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 1:44am Listener Howard in Portland:

And I never knew that until I started listening to FMU at 2 in the morning.
  Wed. 9/7/16 1:46am rw:

Ha! I went to school in Lawrence KS. Had a few friends that were extras in that film. Gotta go check out that bandcamp link....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 1:49am Listener Howard in Portland:

What film was that?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:50am mariano:

I've heard Lawrence is really cool.
  Wed. 9/7/16 1:51am rw:

Oh, the film was called "The Day After". I think it ran on TV. Maybe it was a multi-episode thing. Probably around 1982 or 1983.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:52am Wm.:

Isn't Lawrence where Burroughs lived? The geographic center of N. America?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:52am Wm.:

Stull
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:54am northguineahills:

I've been on the lookout for "The Day After" for awhile.

Dug the Street Sects.
  Wed. 9/7/16 1:55am rw:

Wm. Burroughs was living there when I was in school. He'd do a reading every once in a while. There were people who'd figure out which days he'd go to the grocery store so they could follow him around and see what he would buy.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 1:56am mariano:

Whoa, looked up Stull, this is from the Wiki article: The Stull Cemetery has gained a dubious reputation due to urban legends involving Satan, the occult, and a purported "gateway to Hell".
  Wed. 9/7/16 1:56am rw:

I have a Christian Death story too but maybe another time...
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:02am mariano:

Oh no, tell us @rw! When I was 18 I had an olive green trench coat I wrote Christian Death on the back of in calligraphy with enamel and regular markers, that's gotta count for something!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 2:02am Listener Howard in Portland:

KIRBY! KIRBY! KIRBY!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:04am mariano:

Some of us wish we had drunk women calling us late on a weeknight...
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:08am mariano:

Point heeded, good sir!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:08am tracy:

pffff reveal it
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:10am mariano:

A woman who must've been close to 80 once tried to pick me up at Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle. I was 38, 39 at the time. Couldn't believe it!
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:11am rw:

mariano, my story's not much better than yours. I was about 19 and sneaked into Al's Bar stoned on marijuana with a fake ID to see Christian Death and 45 Grave on Halloween weekend wearing a little girl's Girl Scout uniform.
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:13am rw:

mariano, I mean not much better than the jacket story. I like the one about Columbus Circle! You weren't tempted, were you?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:14am Wm.:

@rw, that's a beautiful story, no shame
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:16am rw:

Yeah, I was the only one dressed like that. Everybody else in costume was either a dead priest or dead nun with teased up hair.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:18am mariano:

Hah! That's great, rw! What a double bill, and sounds like you did it the perfect way! With the old lady, at first I thought she was asking for directions, and she asked if I was waiting on someone, I said yeah, getting more leery. "A *lady* friend?" she asked, and like an idiot I said no. Then she invited me back to her place. My mind was racing for a way to say no politely, and figured that if I said my girlfriend wouldn't approve, she could say it would be our secret or something, and I wanted a solid OUT! So I said "I don't think my boyfriend would approve." and she nodded in understanding and moved on. Whew! The other reply I came up with was too mean: "Where were you 60 years ago when I needed you?"
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:18am Randy Savage:

The 15 year old in me appreciates this type of music. At least it doesn't register 11 on the Cookie Monster Scale. Never go full Cookie Monster.
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:23am rw:

mariano, good thinking. I wonder how often it worked for her. It's a big world, you know.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:25am Wm.:

64 is my cutoff, unless it's Helen Mirren or Nancy Pelosi ..
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:29am Randy Savage:

Only 60+ year olds who sleep in hyperbaric chambers mixed with occult alchemy.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:30am mariano:

Hey, I wish her all the luck in the world, good for her for going for it. But we're talking like support hose and adult diapers old, not some stylish Helen Mirren. Though I guess there are people who are into that sort of thing.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:30am Yvang:

What a name!
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:33am rw:

Holy crap. It's late. I gotta go. Thanks Wm B!
Later, kids!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:34am mariano:

Bye rw, thanks for the story!
  Wed. 9/7/16 2:48am Randy Savage:

This is great. Really nice mix of different genres.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 2:59am mariano:

Thanks William, 'night all!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 3:00am tracy:

cheers
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 7:28am SiHV:

Is it October yet?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 5:32pm Rory:

Grim, Hateful and Drunk...pretty much explains me when I was 21.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 5:33pm Rory:

Not so much Hateful, but really depressed.
