Themes:
I need to live my life
Don't stop me from living my life
I don't need to be tied down
Society wants to tie me down and stop living my life
I just moved out of my folks's house and am riding cross country on a painted pony.
You are a fine woman but don't tie me down and make me stop living my life. You may, however, ride my painted pony. Both literally and figuratively

A couple of weeks ago, I saw a DJ set that mostly involved surface noise. Not surprising as the DJs were the minds behind Artkillart and Phonotopy. It was a great set too
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:14am βrian:

If you're not into computers, you can donate via your abacus. Or slide-rule, I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:15am Marcel M:

EY! We gotta very famous group ova hea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:16am Cliff:

I actually have a slide-rule, it was my grandfather's from when he was a civil engineer in the 50's and 60's

Oh man I love this song and record, Joe. I was very happily surprised by it when it came out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:17am Marcel M:

I'm catching them in BK on Wed.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:18am Joe McG:

@Marcel: People tend to forget that they recorded a lot of cool stuff after 1974 or whatever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:18am Marcel M:

@Joe: Indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:18am Cecile:

A record I reviewed about 3-4 years ago was mindbending and excellent.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:18am Marc Francis:

βrian: Woop! Can't wait. Although between all the snow melting and Joe McGaskos beautiful show - this rainy day really isn't so bad.
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:20am Polyus:

If you know how to knit, Faust will probably invite you to sit onstage with them.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:22am Joe McG:

@Marc: Thanks for the kind words! Glad you're enjoying the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:24am Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:25am common:

my mind is bent. hey joe and all!
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:27am βrian:

Common, when do we get a ride in that fine hooptie?
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:33am Dean:

What? Goat's Head Soup was reissued on Virgin?
Avatar    Mon. 3/28/16 11:34am Sem Chumbo:

Oh,oh, Loretta!
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:35am sue a:

holy crap i heard this on the radio last week in PA. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:35am Parq:

Never heard this Loretta. Got a really tough sound -- I could have mistaken it for a Lucinda Williams track.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:36am just dc pat:

New Loretta Lynn?
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:36am Brendan:

Great dry country wit
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:36am Joe McG:

Brand-new Loretta and sounding swell!
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:37am just dc pat:

I'll say, right on Loretta.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:37am Marc Francis:

Damned. That is one pissed off Loretta.
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:37am Dean:

Country Western lyrics are obsessed with chiasmus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/28/16 11:38am Mick:

That Loretta does sound great! Thanks for playing
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:38am Ear Hammer:

This set is a lot of things... I second Sem's sentiment "Oh,oh, Loretta!"
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:39am Dean:

But then so is the old Band-Aid jingle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:41am Parq:

Dean, music is based on repetition, and so, much of it has repetition as its basis. And thanks (no sarcasm) for the vocab lesson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:41am ChrisB.:

I love it when Country Joe drops by.
Avatar    Mon. 3/28/16 11:41am Sem Chumbo:

ditto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:42am Cecile:

Are things going to pick up emotionally a little bit, or should I just put Dio on the the headphones and be done with it? I'm just not in a great place today, and I can certainly use a blast of "the last in line"
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:42am Cecile:

also, my dad loved this song which is messing with my head today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:43am Cecile:

eh, I didn't need to burden you with this. Off to the Ipod.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:43am Joe McG:

@Cecile: Sorry, Cecile, no Dio here ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:44am common:

i'm drivin' over, brian. last in line sounds good, cecile!
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:44am Brendan:

I wonder why he chose the stage name Twitty
  Mon. 3/28/16 11:44am Dean:

Parq, repetition is indeed a crucial component of music, to my ear best analyzed and put to effect by The Fall in their eponymous "Repetition." But chiasmus is the Klein bottle of repetition, no? It keeps turning back inside itself. Not sure why Country Western lyrics get such a charge out of the form.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:45am Cecile:

no, I didn't want you to play Dio. I am just a bad mood that can't be fixed except for large doses of Dio, Priest, Kvelertak, and Torche
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:46am Ear Hammer:

patiently awaiting some kind of cover of... "she still thinks I care"

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/28/16 11:48am Cecile:

Also, Joe, I'll send you a link of Ronnie's doo-wop era that will blow your mind. Doesn't sound like the same guy as all, but still fantastic singing.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:49am geezerette:

Classy.
Avatar Mon. 3/28/16 11:49am Joe McG:

@Cecile: I've played one of those, and Elf, too, but his metal stuff I can't bear.

It's kind of amusing that Harry Dean Stanton's facebook page is currently being admin'd by some - possible drunk - right wing crank hole.
