Ike:
That was a very Clay Pigeon-y comment by Fabio.
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:22pm
JakeGould:
@Ike: Maybe Fabio is being progressive in his approach to this. Ha! |
![]() |
![]() Dave, your program description cites a guarantee of less than 2% rock and roll. By my calculation, you are currently at 33%. ? |
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:31pm
Dave Mandl:
Oops. |
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:32pm
JakeGould:
Does the FCC have a rock tax penalty? |
![]() |
![]() WFMU DJs have more freeform definitions for musical genres. For instance, Dave sees Alice Cooper as Brechtian performance music, not rock. |
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:39pm
Dave Mandl:
@Caryn: Exactly! (Whew.) |

![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:40pm
HollyT:
Good. I volunteered at Bernie Orlando HQ today calling people. :) |
![]() |
![]() Aint nothing wrong with "Heavy Horses" by Jethro Tull! |
![]() |
![]() Love it to death is a perfect album! |
![]() |
![]() school's out and billion dollar babies are my 2 next favorites.. |
![]() |
![]() i'd like to put those magnets on my car but i guess they'd gradually disappear. |
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:51pm
Dave Mandl:
@coelacanth: But think of the service to mankind you'd be performing. |
![]() |
![]() We're going to have to swap pictures of band names when our swag finally arrives. People will be jealous. |
![]() |
![]() ha! true! ...and i live in a town where a lot of young bands start up - some with terrible names! |
![]() |
![]() good idea Andrew! |
![]() |
![]() @coelacanth: you say "gradually disappear", I say "gradually spread the word about WFMU and band name ideas around the neighbourhood". |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:54pm
pss:
Just epoxy 'em down. | |
![]() |
![]() On a car, the "band name generator" magnets become "bumper sticker slogan generator" magnets. |
![]() |
![]() that's a straight-up pioneering attitude Caryn! |
![]() |
![]() amazing record |
![]() |
![]() much better than those creepy stick figures. |
Sun. 3/13/16 10:58pm
shrill clam beat:
Which fmu DJ used that Fontaine track as their opening track? It was a while back but I remember hearing it all the time.....great track.
Sun. 3/13/16 11:00pm
mark Flynnn:
That Brigitte track was exceptional. I contribute monthly and am tapped out otherwise I'd put myself in the running.
![]() |
![]() it's lying! |
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 11:01pm
JakeGould:
First daylight savings time and now “School’s Out”… WFMU is screwing with my delicate circadian rhythms. |
![]() |
![]() is it "daylight savings time"? -is that why everything's all weird over here? |
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 11:03pm
Dave Mandl:
Sorry I haven't had time to respond here! Thanks mark, coelacanth, shrill, Andrew, Caryn. |
Sun. 3/13/16 11:10pm
mark Flynnn:
The best song on the studio album is Cold Turk. I have a copy with the underpants. Great live band I never saw. They made Don Kirschner's Rock Concert the must watch show in the early 70's by doing Jet and hanging himself on, what I believe was the 3rd show. The Friday night weekly has a rare early performance of Steely Dan who hated touring and only did so to promote their 1st album The show went south when they went from touring the country and recording shows to having a the 1 venue the have bands come and play. Please contribute.
![]() |
![]() rest in peace Ari. ...and i'm sure she didn't mean anything suggestive at all with that name! |
![]() |
![]() didn't Enrico Caruso perform on wfmu? |
![]() |
![]() mark, i searched for years for an intact copy of that. i gave up when i knew for sure that if i ever found one it'd be over $100.. i'm slightly envious! |
![]() |
![]() ...i remember that Don Kirschner show too. i didn't get his dancing with the bloody rag, pulling on his mouth! i liked the snake though! |
![]() |
![]() Jenna from Finland! |
![]() |
![]() If only Florida wasn't such a crazy place, I'd be more okay with the constant confusion during this year's Marathon. |
Sun. 3/13/16 11:30pm
mark Flynnn:
@Coelacanth. Found an intact copy back on the day at a used record store for $1. Looks like I should consider eBay.
Sun. 3/13/16 11:32pm
mark Flynnn:
Whoa! I discovered it 74. One of my favorite albums of all time!
Sun. 3/13/16 11:33pm
mark Flynnn:
Bitches Brew that is. | |
![]() |
![]() whoh, mark! that does happen, but probably not again for that particular album. my older brother had the first issue of school's out. who knows what he and his friends did with the panties! but they ritualistically destroyed all their alice cooper albums after (i believe) "welcome to my nightmare". i tried to get him to give me them but we didn't like each-other so...no. |
![]() |
![]() Experimental music fans are so isolated :) |
![]() |
![]() There's only one in every state. |
Sun. 3/13/16 11:40pm
mark Flynnn:
While Welcome To My Nightmare was pretty much a pandering Alice Cooper album, I think playing golf and supporting Richard Nixon was the real reason to Mel Gibson AC.
![]() |
![]() if you don't have connecticut on your map my pledge was made from that state, not new york as my billing address says. -is that cheating? |
![]() |
Sun. 3/13/16 11:41pm
JakeGould:
Bell Model 500 4 EVER! |
![]() |
![]() Did anyone else see last year's KC tour? |
![]() |
![]() true, mark. that may have been the reason. i didn't know my brother to be particularly politically aware, but probably did hate nixon at the time, after all. |
![]() |
![]() they gave away the book? |
![]() |
![]() off air mystery on the book win |
![]() |
![]() Ok.. I'm not totally drunk then |
![]() |
![]() i'm going to dream that i could donate that much. |
![]() |
![]() Yoko? |
![]() |
![]() Yah, definitely not happening for me with the Canadian dollar the way it is. |
![]() |
![]() never mind. |
![]() |
![]() Thanks Dave and Fabio and volunteers! |
![]() |
Mon. 3/14/16 12:01am

Yay! And the station percentage toward goal is actually a little over 40%, going by the figure on the front page & the $1.2M as stated goal.
![]() |
