I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

oh, if they could only teach this merging technique to New Jersey drivers!

It would require kinetic interaction for anything to work w/ Jersey drivers.

And a happy Yalda as well Webhamster Henry!

www.farsinet.com...

Yalda takes place on December 21, 2015. Yalda, Shab-e Yalda, "Night of Birth", or Zayeshmehr, or Shab-e Chelleh is the Persian winter solstice celebration which has been popular since ancient times. Yalda is celebrated on the Northern Hemisphere's longest night of the year, that is, on the eve of the Winter Solstice. Depending on the shift of the calendar, Yalda is celebrated on or around December 20 or 21 each year. Yalda has a history as long as the religion of Mithraism. The Mithraists believed that this night is the night of the birth of Mithra, Persian angel of light and truth. At the morning of the longest night of the year the Mithra was born. Following the Persian calendar reform of 1925, which pegged some seasonal events to specific days of the calendar, Yalda came to be celebrated on the night before and including the first day of the tenth month. Subject to seasonal drift, this day may sometimes fall a day before or a day after the actual Winter Solstice.

Hi, sun-seekers. I envision that the picture looks like the basement of the Denver International Airport before it opened a few years ago. It was supposed to have an automated baggage handling system, but it didn't work too well.

I like those airport moving walkways. Whenever I hop on or off of them, I pretend to stumble clumsily. Just to draw attention to myself, I guess.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 12/21/15 6:22pm steve:

you mentioned seasonal depression - for what its worth i had bad it all my life until two years ago when i drastically changed my diet to be super healthy and started going to bed around/before midnight. i swear, it just completely disappeared after being a nuisance for 15+ years.
Avatar Mon. 12/21/15 6:23pm Mayuko:

I like airports walkways too and airports in general, Ken. I used to sometimes sneak into the no trespassing area of Haneda airport in Tokyo to see airplanes and cargos close, trying NOT to draw attention to myself as much as possible.
Avatar Mon. 12/21/15 6:30pm Mayuko:

wow, that's amazing steve. That makes perfect sense, I do feel like it has lots to do with your organs working properly, digestion and stuff, if you look at it as an energy issue. Cos one of the biggest problems is that you get very low on energy and can't move when depression hits you, it's not only an emotional thing.
  Mon. 12/21/15 6:30pm Dave B:

For some (like me) the melancholidays are a result of missing loved ones that have passed away, coincidentally in years past round this time of year.

So it's a bit of mourning, compounded by the shorter days.

Add to that the commercial creep where Christmas starts before turkey is served and, well, bah humbug
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 12/21/15 6:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

About 25 years ago, I had to catch an early flight out of the Newark airport (EWR). My friends dropped me off the night before and I unrolled my sleeping bag behind an abandoned ticket counter. Amazingly, no one hassled me and I woke up the next morning and flew away.
Avatar Mon. 12/21/15 6:37pm Mayuko:

@Dave B I think sadness is natural whereas depression is something you probably want to seek for treatments. Feels lilke they're two different things with similar faces. Sadness you can't really heal, and that's ok (I mean it's not ok but I think you know what I mean...) Feels like sadness is sorta part of beauty of the whole thing.
Avatar Mon. 12/21/15 6:41pm Mayuko:

I wanna sleep over at an airport too!!! :o
  Mon. 12/21/15 6:43pm Dave B:

Yeah... I suppose...

:-)

It passes, it's just that this time of year always brings it back full circle. Kinda like Kaiten-zushi

Avatar Mon. 12/21/15 6:47pm Mayuko:

  Mon. 12/21/15 6:48pm Dave B:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 12/21/15 6:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My next airport tale is how I was shipping my bike to my destination. I arrived early and parked my car at a quiet spot at the terminal drop-off. I proceeded to pack the bike into a big box and checked it in and then checked myself in. I hung around the ticket counters until about 20 minutes before departure. Then I realized my car was still sitting outside! I sped out to the parking lot and, miraculously, there was an open spot right at the entrance. I ran back to Terminal A and still managed to make my scheduled flight, but just barely.
Avatar Mon. 12/21/15 6:56pm Mayuko:

@Ken haha! well at least you made it to the flight, whereas I have an experience of missing one. I learned it's pretty shocking when that happens. Maybe I should do an airport show sometime in future! Using your all crazy airport stories too.
Avatar Mon. 12/21/15 6:56pm Mayuko:

oh and yes, happy holidays to everyone! next monday will be my last show in 2015, hope you guys can come hang out with me again.
  Mon. 12/21/15 6:58pm Dave B:

I have a long tale about rented cars and Keflavyk (sp?) airport, getting escorted down the jetway and the walk of shame to my seat in the back... I'll save it for another time....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 12/21/15 6:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Mayuko - Yeah, I think I tried that sleepover trick one other time, but overslept. I hope you don't mind that I kind of "hijacked" the belt theme. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, all, with extra vertigo!

I used to know one of the guys from Golden Teacher. Not that well, really, but he had an earlier project called Blue Sabbath Black Fiji that was really great. Noise, but over time it drifted into something like dance noise, if that makes any sense. It probably doesn't, it didn't at the time, which was part of the appeal
Avatar Sun. 12/27/15 11:49pm Mayuko:

@fred Ohh!! I like dancy power noise, but I guess Blue Sabbath Black Fiji might have been different from that kind of stuff, assuming from Golden Teacher's sound. I will definitely look for that, thanks so much for the info!
