I wonder if Tracey Pendarvis wonders if riffing on Elvis don’t pay?
Avatar    Wed. 12/9/15 8:28pm Mailman Tom:

In the Francis the Talking Mule movies from the 1950s, they applied electric jolts to the animal lips to cause them to twitch in order to make it appear that the animal was speaking. Couldn't get away with that these days!
Avatar    Wed. 12/9/15 8:30pm Bronwyn Bishop:

That's horrible, Mailman Tom :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:30pm dale:

the beckeroos is brilliant. kudos p-90.
Avatar Wed. 12/9/15 8:32pm Becky:

@Mailman Tom: Is that how Mr. Ed worked? You're wrecking my childhood here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:33pm dale:

mr. ed learned to move his lips on cue. he was quite a brilliant horse. i think they just gave gum to the apes in lance link, secret chimp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/9/15 8:35pm JakeGould:

I believe they used fishing line thread as well for Mr. Ed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:36pm dale:

mr. ed started with his trainer pulling thread to move his mouth. but how did arnold the pig write his name - THAT is the big question.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:37pm dale:

DON RICH - yay!
Avatar    Wed. 12/9/15 8:37pm Mailman Tom:

The info is from Movie Club magazine, a short lived professional magazine from the 1990s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:39pm Ken From Hyde Park:

These guys claim Mr. Ed was fed a wad of sticky goo. www.straightdope.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:40pm dale:

  Wed. 12/9/15 8:43pm Old Dave:

dale, most horses are brilliant. I never got why they (and most dogs, too) are so impatient to please us less than brilliant humans! It almost never ends well for them...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:48pm dale:

love this song -has an 'our elusive dreams and schemes' slant to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/9/15 8:49pm fleep:

And cue the mournful violin. Jerk my tears, jerk them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 12/9/15 8:51pm dale:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/9/15 8:51pm JakeGould:

Avatar    Wed. 12/9/15 8:55pm Bronwyn Bishop:

If We Make It Through December was a staple of my Christmas shows on my show at school.
  Wed. 12/9/15 8:59pm kevlicki:

Loving your show. Thanks for the last hour!
  Wed. 12/9/15 8:59pm Old Dave:

Oh, now I see, This show is all about rich NYC intellectuals poking fun at Southern "jerkoffs."
