Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Wiki re. Halfnelson:"Todd Rundgren producer of Bearsville Records signed the band with a contract and became the producer of their Halfnelson debut in 1971, which was one of Todd Rundgren's first outside production jobs since his own group, The Nazz. In retrospect the band was not all that happy with his production and one year later Ron Mael stated that "Todd Rundgren is extremely nice, but if you had to work with him, you wouldn't have much space for your own ideas. We did not feel his way of producing was suitable for our music. However, he could not be convinced otherwise. We started to behave a bit nasty and aggressive towards him and finally he didn't turn up anymore."

Hey Dean - to followup on last week - I went to a record expo last saturday (that's been 10 minutes from where I grew up on the 2nd saturday of the month for the past 25 years and I had no idea) - asked a dealer if he had any solo Harrison. He pulled out a few from the 80's, and I said I was looking for his first two when he was still with the Beatles. He pulled out a Japanese import of Electronic Sound - price tag = $200
Eek.

I don't think it stands up that well next to London Calling.
Avatar Fri. 9/18/15 2:41pm Doug Schulkind:

I saw Bo Diddley open for the Clash.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 9/18/15 2:42pm Uncle Michael:

Doug, what rhymes with "window hinge?"

Suppposedly I saw Sam & Dave open, though I don't remember it.

A: Ginger minge.
Also, that "Frustration" opening kick bears a strong resemblance to the opening of Spider Bags "Chemtrails". The great hooks have a life of their own.

Shindo twinge?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 9/18/15 2:45pm Uncle Michael:

Play the best one twice!

All told, I think Sandinista has just shy of an LP's worth of pretty good songs, but as much as I love LC, I think it too could be pared down to a single LP of really solid songs.
Avatar Fri. 9/18/15 2:48pm Rich in Washington:

Kenzo Binge was my favorite of all the Seven Samurais
  Fri. 9/18/15 2:51pm Dean:

More importantly, is everybody clear about how to pronounce "clash"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 9/18/15 2:52pm Uncle Michael:

No.
  Fri. 9/18/15 2:52pm Dean:
