Who dat DJ?:

IMMACULATE STYLES Immaculate Styles is a DJ/producer who splits time between NYC and Los Angeles. From his first exposure to hip hop via a mixtape that a babysitter from South Boston played him in 1985, to picking up the bass at age 12 and then later arming himself with a degree in Jazz Studies from NYU, Immaculate Styles brings a lyricism, musicality and knowledge of song craftsmanship to his always funky DJ sets, regardless of genre. He has produced music for TV and film as well – the first film he ever scored won Best Short at Sundance. As a DJ, Immaculate Styles is a true selector: he chooses tracks for his go-anywhere sets that are funky in some way and share the common thread of great songwriting and arranging, no matter what the genre. A reflection of this can be found in his remix of Nas’ ‘It Ain’t Hard To Tell’ which is featured on his latest mixtape, ‘Sicker Than Your Average.’ When he is not making music, Immaculate Styles is a designer and a stylist. He has designed and produced clothes for the label Christopher Smyk (www.christophersmyk.com) and is often called to style bands for major television appearances in New York City and Los Angeles. His latest mixtape, created for Billy Jam’s ‘Put The Needle On The Record’ show on WFMU, is a highly spirited, soulful and super inspired collection of hip hop classics, at times wildly and funkily reimagined by Immaculate Styles and broken into 4 acts. With incredible transitions, highly original edits and a lyrical and funky style of scratching that puts the emphasis way behind the beat (‘I scratch like a bass player’ he says), ‘Sicker Than Your Average’ can be downloaded for free at soundcloud.com/immaculatestyles. His remix of Nas’ ‘It Aint Hard To Tell’ as well as his Poolside/Notorious B.I.G. edit of ‘Hypnotize’ can also be found at soundcloud.com/immaculatestyles. Currently he can be found DJing the first Sunday of every month with Rob Swift at Pianos in New York City (158 Ludlow Street). Contact: info@immaculatestyles.com

Who dat DJ?:

It has been said about the Bay Area DJ/producer known as ADA is an elusive character, one highly passionate about skratching, mixing, sampling, and concept albums. This observation is confirmed with the frequent show contributor's latest opus - UFOLOGY (an album and an accompanying visual production) that's been featured here on this show. UFOLOGY is best described as an Audio Visual Experience produced entirely via sampling/skratching called UFOLOGY - one allegedly based on a true story. Reportedly when asked for further details on this true story, ADA typically replies with a curt, "I've already said too much." When not busy holed up in his Vallejo, CA home studio/vast record library deep in the creative mode, ADA (whose real name is Adam) enjoys relaxing with his wife, dog, and other animals who visit his home.
