Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:06pm Tony Coulter:

Doeth tell....
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:07pm V Priceless:

thanks for the visual, Dean...or maybe not! : )
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:07pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Dean! Your teeth will be squeaky clean by the end of the set....
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:07pm V Priceless:

I always get a floor-waxing vibe from these stylings...
  Tue. 5/19/15 12:08pm Dean:

She plays this on my gums. Once I requested Beethoven's Emperor Concerto. She declined, but offered to perform a series of Cabaret Voltaire B-sides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/19/15 12:08pm doctorjazz:

Oooo, that was sending chills down my spine.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:09pm Tony Coulter:

Greets, doctorjazz!
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:10pm Tony Coulter:

Here's a "Tape Hiss" golden oldie for you ("Streetong," I mean).
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:11pm Tony Coulter:

er, "Streetsong" ... not Street Tong....
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:20pm Doug Schulkind:

Ha! I have that Stefan Tischler recording sitting in the middle of my floor. Ha!
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:21pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Doug!

Quite a coinky-dink!
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:28pm Tony Coulter:

Whammy Bartok -- on now -- is a Smegma offshoot (w/ Mike Lastra).
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 12:34pm βrian:

"A smegma offshoot" might be a problematic phrase in other contexts...
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:35pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, βrian!

Better than "a Smegma discharge," at least....
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:37pm V Priceless:

just heard the unfortunate news that Chris Squire has Leukemia
  Tue. 5/19/15 12:41pm Dean:

Sad news about Squire. Pete Townshend's birthday today.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:44pm V Priceless:

wow - that's cool. Seeing them tomorrow, actually. Nostalgia got the best of me...plus, can't pass up another chance to see Townsend thrash about the place.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:45pm V Priceless:

Townshed, rather. 70...whoa..nice work, PT!
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:46pm northguineahills:

And almost counterpart to Patty Water's "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair".
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:47pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, NGH!

"White Is the Color of My True Love's Meat."
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:48pm V Priceless:

one of my fave soundtracks, this.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 12:52pm northguineahills:

Another good one from YLT!
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 1:08pm listener james from westwood:

lovely first hour and gld to have the Bene Gesserit and YLT today!
  Tue. 5/19/15 1:08pm Dean:

They sounded a bit like Cafe Jacques, oddly.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 1:12pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, James! Here's more BG for you!

Haven't yet sampled Cafe Jacques -- been meaning too. I hear they make a mean scone.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 1:26pm Tony Coulter:

The Reverend Toad Eater = Richard "Midnight Hatsize" Snyder of Magic Band (and Decayes and Child Molesters) fame. I guess with these lyrics he needed a pseudonym.
  Tue. 5/19/15 1:27pm Dean:

He's in a band called Child Molesters, but he needs a pseudonym for these lyrics?
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 1:28pm northguineahills:

Sirens coming from my speakers and from outside my window, it's a siren symphony!
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 1:29pm Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Good point.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 1:40pm Tony Coulter:

Hope you're all enjoying today's Up with People special....
  Tue. 5/19/15 1:40pm Dean:

Boyd Rice has clearly been to Disneyland. The parking alone is a thrill ride.

I heard him as Non at a Polynesian restaurant in LA a long time ago. Heckuva show.
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 1:40pm βrian:

Sounds like a Tea Party theme ...
  Tue. 5/19/15 1:41pm Mark Williams:

Boyd Rice owned a Tiki bar in Denver, I believe. He's duty bound to like Disneyland.
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 1:52pm βrian:

"Qu'ils mangent de la brioche !"
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 1:59pm listener james from westwood:

I've never actually heard any Orff aside from The Orff Piece, to my knowledge, so this is entertaining and educational.
  Tue. 5/19/15 2:03pm Dean:

By TOP, ljfw, you mean Carmina Burana? That it's overplayed, overused in film, deprives us of his nicer stuff. I thought there were recordings by Rene Clemencic (whose ensemble has made wonderful recordings based on the *real* Carmina Burana) of some of Orff's pedagogical stuff for kids, but I can't find them.
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 2:06pm βrian:

"Who's your favorite composer?," the interviewer asked the seal.
  Tue. 5/19/15 2:06pm Susan Resko:

Great show today, Tony! It's getting me through a hard day. Thanks!
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 2:07pm listener james from westwood:

@Dean: I do indeed. Weird that it gets used so much considering there's this comparatively non–Sturm und Drang spot in the middle.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 2:07pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there, Susan!! Glad I'm helping!
  Tue. 5/19/15 2:08pm Dean:

Yes, @ljfw, the section that doesn't sell automobiles.
  Tue. 5/19/15 2:10pm Susan Resko:

I must hear more by Dogbowl!
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 2:11pm βrian:

"Orff!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/19/15 2:20pm Carmichael:

Instant voice recognition. What a great album.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 2:25pm Tony Coulter:

Tina & David Meltzer = Serpent Power
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 2:47pm Tony Coulter:

The bass player of NDIO (on now) is ... Soft Machine's Hugh Hopper.
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 2:56pm βrian:

I thought I heard a snippet of claymation Davey there.
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 2:57pm V Priceless:

great show, TC! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/19/15 2:58pm JtotheK:

C'mon Tony! Can't you play through?
Avatar Tue. 5/19/15 3:01pm Tony Coulter:

You mean until next week? Why not....
Avatar    Tue. 5/19/15 3:01pm βrian:

Well, for a little bit?
