Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/30/15 12:25pm efd:

@Guido, I also thought the beginning of that David Essex song sounded like "Keep Your Big Mouth Shut," and I was hoping that maybe it would be a version of that song that was hummed, not sung, which would have been very clever of course.

I've seen Adrian Belew a few times, offering clinics and short concerts at Sweetwater sound. He works the Frip-looping stuff on computers today (and quite well, I should say.) but he also explained how 'simple' some of the stuff was, if not mathematically-neurotic. Steady but different patterns of notes, interweaving. Whew. Easier to listen to!

Re. math-nerd-music. One song on that '81 KC album is basically two guitarists starting out with the same 13 (making this up)-note sequence, with one dropping back a beat, weaving it together until the two lines re-engage.

Now I'm tired.
