DJ Fabio pokes his head in: "Hey, is this song about giallo?"
"Nope, sorry, Jell-O."

Hi Tony and drum circlers. I bought Tarkio Road when it came out. Seems to me that was a long time ago, but I can't remember anything anymore. What was I saying?

Hey Carmichael: Yes, Tarkio Road came out long, long ago and in another dimension. Maybe it never really existed?
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 12:43pm Charlie:

Hooray for Henry Jacobs (and also his alter-ego, Shorty Petterstein).
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 12:47pm Tony Coulter:

Hooray indeed! The way he combines humor and a wide experimental streak is pretty unique.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 12:53pm Charlie:

Well said.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 12:55pm Tony Coulter:

BIG thanks to listener Danko, who very kindly sent me this Stamping Ground CD, which is from Serbia. The group is led by keyboardist Nikola Ignjatovich, who also played with Boris Kovac and Stevan Tickmeyer

Hey Tony. Do you know about the Bohman Brothers recent project "Secluded Bronte"? They performed at a local avant garde night here last year, I had no idea who they were at the time. Various stuff on Soundcloud, etc.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 1:09pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there. Mr. Elf! Yes, I have that "Secluded Bronte" CD. In fact, I can see it from where I sit. It's great.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 1:09pm Tony Coulter:

By the way, the music on that CD was recorded at FMU years ago on Dave Mandl's show.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 1:11pm Tony Coulter:

The CD in question is titled "Secluded in Jersey City."
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 1:13pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Not such a recent project then. Unsurprisingly there's an FMU connection. Hadn't heard Bohmans before or since, but it was quite an occasion seeing them live!
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 1:19pm listener james from westwood:

Dug the first hour-and-change, Tony! Great interweaving of the various artists.

In fact you get on the one hand remastered albums and films that are exactly the same as they always are and 25 cd box sets on the other hand - such as King Crimson Lark's tongue that are so over the top you are never going to listen to it all!

Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:14pm Tony Coulter:

@ ?: Not very often, no. I'm considering the new Beefheart Box -- but I already have 3/4 of it, so....
  Tue. 12/16/14 2:15pm Dean:

I prefer my Mancini medium rare.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:15pm Charlie:

I wonder if this was from a movie originally.
  Tue. 12/16/14 2:16pm ?:

surprised Trout mask wasn't part of that box set. Suppose trout mask should be as rough as possible - no remastering required.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:16pm Tony Coulter:

Yes! It was from "Me, Natalie"
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:16pm listener james from westwood:

Aaaaaaand from the kitchen I was thinking, "Is that Rod McKuen singing?" Yes indeedy-doo!
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:17pm Tony Coulter:

Message re "Me, Natalie" was aimed at Charlie, of course.....
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:17pm listener james from westwood:

One reason I miss Kenny G's show: His opening McKuen track. (The Morricone talkover music didn't hurt, either.)
  Tue. 12/16/14 2:18pm ?:

is that pig pen from the Grateful Dead, wasn't he call bob mckuen?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 12/16/14 2:18pm Carmichael:

Tony, do you have the Beefheart EP that has Here I Am, I Always Am and Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Flame? I have it somewhere, but couldn't recently find it when all the FMU Beefheart hoopla started happening.
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:20pm Tony Coulter:

@ Carmichael: Deedy I do -- the "Legendary A&M Sessions"
  Tue. 12/16/14 2:25pm MrFab:

Doesn't that suck about that Beefheart box, Tony? You can't get the 4th disk separately, no individual tracks available from itunes, etc. Gotta buy all or nuthin. Granted, if anyone's worth spending 50 bucks for one disk, the Cap'n's the man, but still...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 12/16/14 2:27pm Carmichael:

That's it! Boy, now if I could only find it ...
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:27pm Tony Coulter:

@ MrFab: It is annoying! Maybe the discs will be released separately later. I'm going to wait and see. (Greetings, Fab!)
Avatar Tue. 12/16/14 2:56pm Doug Schulkind:

Tony Coulter pretty much invented the phrase "hard act to follow," but the Drummer Stream is gonna try, serving up two more live radio shows this evening:

At 6pm, tune in for Give the Drummer Some as we celebrate today's 84th anniversary of the demise of Herman Karl Lamm, the "father of the modern bank robbery." Lamm was, of course, gunned down during a failed heist on this date in 1930.

Playlist here: wfmu.org...

At 7pm, Jesse Kaminsky will be weaving a tale of sonic gold and shoving it in your ear for three hours! Q-Tips will be provided.
