A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

The guy reading off countries reminds me of an art project I did back in school, we had to mimic a famous artist so I chose John Baldessari and his "teaching a plant the alphabet" but instead I took my friends puppy and video-taped me teaching it geography where I sat and pointed to countries while the puppy sat there confused as hell.

i need the coffee everyday, or i'm a horrible wreck. it hasn't destroyed my stomach, yet. i also work at a job where we have free reign of an espresso machine, which means the temptation to have an americano is always there.
Avatar Tue. 9/16/14 10:27am northguineahills:

Jon Stewart did a great segment about Ray Rice.
It showed the hypocrisy of the NFL and how they could have expelled him outright from the beginning, but only did so after public outrage. At least the Ray Rice jerseys are pulled from the shelves and Nike has withdrawn endorsement. On a side note, I never understood the reading of YA novels as an adult. Personally it makes me cringe to read, so I never did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:21am Lewis:

...Rock'n'Roll is a U.S. creation - out of the catastrophe of Slavery - & one sometimes wonders how it translates around the World: do they need to Rebel in France like this?: They actually *recognize* Black culture! (Jazz &tc.)...or did before recent elections held after the credit crash...

@Brian - I feel the same way. I even hate the replacement of text with icons (gmail did this a couple of years ago). Nothing wrong with text!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:30am adrian in mpls:

The temporality of text/reading is something i don't want to give up on.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:30am Andrew Waterloo:

The problem with text is translation.

...I read Camus in 6th grade, & comic books now - I see this as complicated...

Diggin the show... cleaning the house in time for the Scottish gran comes to stay! eek

Young Adult is an oxymoron
Avatar Tue. 9/16/14 11:32am βrian:

In a similar vein, I refuse to read html-mail. My e-mail is text, pure and simple. (Kind of crotchety that way, I suppose.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:32am Andrew Waterloo:

I read things like The Stone Angel and To Kill a Mockingbird around that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:32am adrian in mpls:

@Andrew - that's true. but icons/imagery sometimes demand translation as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:32am Priscilla:

How true, Trouble! Literature is long but life is short...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:35am Andrew Waterloo:

@adrian, I agree. I have the is argument with my boss when it comes to App development. He wants as little text as possible. I think there are places where text is the only thing that works.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:36am Stevel:

Great show, again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/16/14 11:39am adrian in mpls:
