This evening on my show I am celebrating the anniversary of V-J Day by playing Japanese artists performing western music forms. Feel free to submit ideas for playlist page art. The winner will get the softest listening cushion during the show.

Hey ho, Dean!
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 12:48pm Doug Schulkind:

I was looking for Japanese reggae bands, but rockabilly would do nicely, James!

I LURVE Tak Shindo, Tony. But you knew that.
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 12:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Jaysus, Dean, that rocks.
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 12:54pm listener james from westwood:

Now I've got a yen for pizza. A few hundred yen, actually.
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 1:01pm listener james from westwood:

Coincidentally, I am starting a new book about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It notes how citizens of both cities were puzzled in early-mid 1945 over why they had not been subjected to the same devastation as Tokyo and other cities. Also: Curtis LeMay and Arthur "Bomber" Harris rekindle my belief, or at least hope, that there is a Hell.

...can we be heading towards City Boy's wonderful "5000 Years / Don't Know Can't Tell" anthem?
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 1:19pm Jeff Golick:

They come in seven parts, and the laces surround the shoe 360 degrees.

@Doug & Dean: A fine choice of art! If I ask her to make me one with everything, will I be referred to a friendly neighborhood zendo?
  Tue. 9/2/14 1:43pm Dean:

I am honored. Now where's my cushion?
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 1:49pm listener james from westwood:

@Dean: Oh, there's no cushion. But when you die, you'll receive total consciousness. So you've got that going for you. Which is nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/2/14 1:50pm Carmichael:

Hi Tony and rhinoceri. Just got back to work, from Labor Day, and it seems no one did my work?!

Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 2:04pm Tony Coulter:

Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 2:27pm Tony Coulter:

Capital!! I will look for that album (which I do not know).
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 2:35pm Tony Coulter:

Meaning, I guess, that my segue from her to the Cohen song was rather coincidental -- had no idea she had covered it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/2/14 2:35pm Uncle Michael:

It's all Cohen covers.

She also covered a Cohen song on one of the Rob Wasserman albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/2/14 2:36pm Uncle Michael:

Jennifer Warnes?
Avatar Tue. 9/2/14 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

Oh -- I thought you were sayin' Kristin Hersh had covered "Famous Blue Raincoat." No wonder I never heard of it. And now, back to our regularly scheduled programing.
