i've just decided that i want to teach meditation...even though i know nothing about it. there would be beer involved. maybe i'll just get a sitar instead.

Has anyone here BY ANY CHANCE IN HELL, ever done a walk in passport renewal at Cadman Plaza (downtown) post office in Brooklyn?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 7/31/14 9:22am northguineahills:

@Marcel, I've been in building, but not for passport renewal. I've always just did everything online and then via mail for my passport renewal.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 7/31/14 9:30am Marcel M:

Yeah and Cadman Plaza is kind of insane... I do work right there though. Hmmm. I shall pontificate and decide.

Marcel - 'twas a few years back, but I don't remember more than one person being in front of me or having the process take long. I had all my shit together and was as pleasant as possible to the lady behind the counter which seemed to help.

Turnaround time was fairly quick, too.

Hi duke! @beauvoux: Yes, Todd thought it was hysterical. He said he put up with the "drudgery" of recording it since he got a kick out of how over-the-top it was. Stienman knew it, too. He was aiming for ridiculous.

Crril Kornbluth was reputed to have never brushed his teeth; they were a greenish color. Needless to say, he never smiled.

Even more of a synchronicity that it was was about Chill Wills, one of the reasons I revisited it was that I wasn't sure who had played that part. I thought it might have been Phil Harris. Chill Wills was appropriately "chilling", an eerily believable homicidal psychopath. And Burgess Meredith was never less than excellent in anything he did, never saw him on stage but they say he was even better there than on film.

ramekins! I love that word. They're smaller than what we called "monkey dishes" in restaurantese.

New "Eno/Hyde" in heavy rotation last few weeks. And why not, it deserves to be in rotation somewhere, and where else would that happen I ask you?

IMO Eno hasn't topped his first four albums in terms of revisiting his great vocals, among other things.
  Thu. 7/31/14 11:30am P-90:

I think someone like Eno inevitably gets a bit of a bump in his score in such venues, some extra pointage for his long and respected career. The "lifetime achievement" effect.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 7/31/14 11:37am Kurt Gottschalk:

and i haven't read idolator in a long time but i know they used to chart rolling stone's reviews, stars and ads. over and over an album could get a lukewarm review but get four or five stars if it was advertised in the same issue.

Totally cool for a journalist to do that, if he cops to what he's doing like Bangs did and doesn't try to blow one by with a "stealth reversal".

revision, in and of itself isn't the worst thing -- but i agree, the original should be preserved. and admitting "mistakes were made".....i think of all the bad first judgments i've made about certain records, etc.....
