Live Performance by Elysian Fields (Jennifer Charles: vocals, toy piano; Oren Bloedow: guitar, foot percussion; Danton : bass)

With sultry vocals and keyboards by Jennifer Charles and Oren Bloedow providing guitar, vocals and a host of other instruments, as Elysian Fields they have been quietly releasing their jazzily eclectic albums since the 1990s. Jennifer and Oren were drawn together through the early incarnation of The Knitting Factory where Jennifer worked. And Oren's worked with the likes of Henry Threadgill, David Murray, Sonic Youth and Jeff Buckley, who also had ties to the old Knit Fac. Their latest disc is "For House Cats And Sea Fans" and Elysian Fields dropped by to play some of those tunes for WFMU.

Hi all! Setting up for Elysian Fields so I just saw this. I'm getting the picture here at WFMU. Try refreshing your browser. If not, I'll switch it out with a link.

So great to hear Melaena-can't get enough of this gifted artist.
Avatar 12:18pm

It's okay, probably just my work filtering it or something. They do weird things with internet access attempts sometimes. Just happy I can get to WFMU!

@Irene: Getting the picture fine here, but you might eventually like to add another "en" within enlightenment. :)

@Sean: I sort of surmised it might be you.

the picture shows up, but when I click on it to follow the link to flikr, I get a 404 message as well...was hoping to checkout more record fair pics

Ha, same here Mike East. I see the photo just fine in the browser but I was clicking on it trying to see more :)

I have the same 404 message when I click on the photo as it appears on the playlist. I was able to get Irene's photo stream (as it turns out, Flickr is one of the few popular image sites not banned by my employer's porn-phobic IT dept.) by searching for Irene Trude Flickr on Google.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm

Well, I haven't gotten around to posting mine yet. Might be better to go to Flicker and search directly.

Fay's song could be a graduation speech. I'd add: drink plenty of water and always wear sunscreen.

This is very soothing as I recover from hand surgery. Just what I need today. Started typing this at the Robin Scott song---running at a slow pace---you're now three songs on.

Irene I have a few more photos which I grabbed off screen and can send to you for use. How should I do that?

Mike Stuart Span/Leviathan- now that is obscure, but still sounds pretty good 45+ years later, doesn't it?

wonderful set
Avatar 12:57pm

Perhaps it's a case of older record fair finds. Once upon a time, string arrangements -- synth or not - were all the rage.

WFMU experimentation or a must have concrete drummer resolution

@thunderish jay - WFMU has several alternate streams...most of the time, they are not live DJ's, but the Give the Drummer Stream has scheduled live DJ slots each week. right now is one of those slots

Yeah, while people answer a question he's coming up with a totally different question based on a tiny detail from that answer. Often he doesn't even let people finish their answers. It's like his mind works in double speed but he's totally smooth the whole time.
