This whole album is great, I really recommend it. Most of the tracks are burned into my brain, which is saying something for abstract noisy stuff!

  Thu. 2/20/14 4:09pm P-90:

@Kat: Thanks, that IS weird, I wonder what's up. Does your internet radio come through a special service or portal site? Maybe they make those attachments there and just got something mixed up. Did you say the (admittedly distingished-looking) Mr. Lehrer appear at all times of day, or just in the a.m. when his own show is live?

@P-90: Only noticed BL's image about a month ago. It's always at start-up on WFMU. Sometimes -- like just now -- it will switch to the current show's image after I hit the "forward" button. BUT right now is an image that I do not believe is from Fabio's folio. It's a cartoon drawing, green, of what appears to be a robot helmet and shoulders area, or deep-sea diving suit or ??
  Thu. 2/20/14 4:18pm P-90:

@RevTD: we could do w/out the raisism, thanks

ELECTRIC FUNERAL!!! Love you for playing this! We voted it as our class song when I was a senior, but the school nixed it.

Has anyone ever called the fmu studio line? And actually talked with the "on air personality"
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:25pm DCE:

I've heard Hand of Doom several times in the past few months, but not Electric Funeral
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:26pm Cecile:

mariano, that is awesome.
We voted for "Do You Think I"m Sexy" but got overridden by some Seals and Crofts deep cut

@bipolar, some pick up, some don't. Often they're too busy juggling CDs and vinyl, etc. Also I think some have had bad experiences with mentally disturbed individuals on the phone.
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:29pm Cheri Pi:

Our class song was Iron Man, narrowly beating Human League's Keep feeling fascination.
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:30pm Cheri Pi:

I voted for Human League btw...
Avatar Thu. 2/20/14 4:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Keep Feeling Iron Man could have mash potential (?)
  Thu. 2/20/14 4:30pm bipolar guy:

@ike I wonder if I called Fabio right now would he pick up
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:31pm DCE:

I'm reasonably sure he would not

Yokooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:31pm PKNY:

I went to a lame Catholic HS where Billy Joel was by far the class favorite, so I'm sure our class 'song' would've been "We Didn't Start the Fire" or some shit.

Human Sabbath/ Black League

your class was cool, Cheri. At least that part.
  Thu. 2/20/14 4:32pm bipolar guy:

I would not call to be mean to him! But I just want to point out why doesn't the FMU library have any William Basinski
  Thu. 2/20/14 4:33pm Porno Drive-In:

Love of all things/Boobs/music & film &art failure.
Avatar Thu. 2/20/14 4:34pm mariano:

@cecile: That's cool about the class song. My original vision was to have us getting our diplomas with "No future" from God Save the Queen playing.
Avatar Thu. 2/20/14 4:34pm Fredericks:

Sounds like Yoko's showing Robert Plant how to do it right.
Avatar Thu. 2/20/14 4:34pm mariano:

@cheri: your school was obviously waaaay cooler than mine!
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:35pm PKNY:

Speaking of Sabbath and high school: there was a book on Sabbath w/ a flyer on the cover, it seems like they played a *Catholic* high school not far from were I live now in NJ, back in 1971 or so --> 4.bp.blogspot.com...
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:36pm steve:

bipolar guy, i probly missed something but how do you know there's no Basinski? he's definitely been played plenty on the station - including that huge disintergration loops boxset that has the whole thing plus a heap of extras.
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:36pm Cheri Pi:

Well, it was Redmond after all, heavy metal and new wave dominated and I did not usually pick sides.
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:36pm Ike:

Um yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and recommend to Fabio that he NOT answer the phone right now, given Bipolar's commenting history. No offense, dude. Take your meds, relax, zone out to the awesome sounds.
  Thu. 2/20/14 4:39pm bipolar guy:

@ike I have been a listener of fabios for years!
@steve I guess I must have missed it. Because fmu is on in my apt 24/7
  Thu. 2/20/14 4:39pm nic:

this is great !!!
Avatar Thu. 2/20/14 4:41pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Very much not cool high-school here.

The big debate of the time (10th grade?) was PRINCE VS. MICHAEL JACKSON. That's as deep as it got. I spent the whole time scowling quietly under a black cloud & secretly letting crickets loose in the classroom to chirp happily in dark corners...
Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:41pm Carmichael:

@bipolar, have you seen this vid? www.youtube.com...

Avatar    Thu. 2/20/14 4:54pm Ike:

Steve mentions Dan Bodah's show, Airborne Event. That's a great show. Check it out. If I recall correctly, Airborne Event didn't get a ton of pledges last year, which was a bummer. Rally for that show, y'all. Awesome sounds.
  Thu. 2/20/14 4:55pm bipolar guy:

@cheri pi in sept of last year I was in hospital from aug 29 to October 2nd
Avatar Thu. 2/20/14 4:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Huge fan of Bodah's show. I generally need to get it from archives, but it's a worthy bit of ear-stuffage.
