Beautiful start to the show DJ Jeffrey Davison, really 'hits the spot'.

Hiya, and good morning, Jeffrey. Ready to be amazed by your show yet again.

Morning, RevRab. How's she going, eh?
Avatar 6:29am
Whooda:

I've listened to about 1/2 of the new Angel Olsen album on the NPR website and White Fire is the stand-out tune for me so far. www.npr.org...

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Full Moon kept me up I think Sem ! - didn't Werk yesterday though due to snow - so they won't care if I complain; disturbed also by Pseu Braun's rudeness last night, but apparently that's her schtick.
Avatar 7:10am
Sem Chumbo:

@RevRab: just back at the keyboard now. re: Pseu: I have heard that also and read an archive of a show to see for myself.Yes, schtick: is a comic theme or gimmick. "Shtick" is derived from the Yiddish word shtik (שטיק), meaning "piece"; the closely related German word Stück has the same meaning.
Avatar 7:20am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Urban Dictionary - a sort of authority ! - says :
'Yiddish slang meaning "gimmick" that has come to mean "someone's signature behavior."'
- so there are various tones of meaning implied here.
- The archive will only represent a certain %age of what happens there, as much of this on her part is sending many comments down the 'memory hole' (deleting them) unceremoniously
Avatar 7:22am
Sem Chumbo:

Yes, there is power in shaping the past, I have read:)
Avatar 7:24am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I wonder what sort of acoustic is being picked so well on this Johnny Flynn - jealous of the tone - & have yet to sit @ a pedal steel guitar - though one hears it's not easy to play!...
Avatar 7:26am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& love Mark Lanegan.

LovecraftDude888:

I left one pertinent comment on pseu's board last night: I think she ended up deleted it i.e.censoring it. This is fascism at its finest. All I can say is, her show isn't that Good A. and B. she's just plain nasty and vindictive. And her taste in music is spotty at best. Lester Bangs would've have had her in tears and in loony bin in five seconds....wish he were still with us.
  7:30am
LovecraftDude888:

oh wait I thought this was Bruce Davison the actor's show??? my fave obscure 70s 80s actor...just kidding Jeff I loved you in Lathe of Heaven
  7:31am
mike east:

Poor Jeffrey's gotta deal with the pseu backlash each week on his comments board.
Morning all. Glad to be alive and listening.
  7:32am
LovecraftDude888:

not Jeff's fault, that's for sure. Pseu...I'm gonna pseu her soon. She's a Pseu-Do Intellectual is what she is.
  7:35am
LovecraftDude888:

then I went over to YTube and listened to 3 hrs. of the Stones which was much better
Avatar 7:36am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I have only ever said positive things about what she plays; personally I drift in & out of listening to it; not about that for me @ all.
- 'Lathe of Heaven' ! - that was great; SciFi as a medium for ideas - what a concept !
- Yes - apologies to our host - but it pertains to FMU generally - & I'm just being honest. Nevertheless - this Board tends to the minimalist (for lack of better word), in keeping w/ the program in a way, so I would regret distracting from that too much...
Avatar 7:37am

...Morning MikeE !
  7:38am
mike east:

Still haven't seen Llewelyn Davis. Can't wait til this baby is old enough to drag to the theatre
  7:39am
mike east:

Hey rabbit!
  7:41am
LovecraftDude888:

She has some bias against "older" listeners or she is paranoid schizo. against those who she perceives as such...I could be 18 how would she know...well minus my info. on my profile but anyway...I tried to do the same Rabbit, and back her up, and got dissed anyway. So I gave up. Nastiness I don't need. But don't try to tell me that Lady Ga Ga or KP is better than The Stones or Beatles..it just ain't from where I'm sitting. no chance.
Avatar 7:42am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- on this too opinions are sharply divided MikeE! Many reportedly find no value in the plot & characters - found it a bummer & also a disservice to the Greenwich Village Folk Scene - but I think Irwin didn't even care about that & liked the music ! - only one way to know for sure - right - ??...
  7:42am
mike east:

Though I should say I'm still enjoying her tininess. She's asleep in my arms right now and. I can't imagine a better feeling
Avatar 7:43am
Sem Chumbo:

Wood stove throwing off waves of heat, cats lolling in their chairs, coffee brewing, bread toasting, and Shrunken Planet the soundtrack. Much appreciated, Jeffrey, for your contribution to this am.
  7:43am
LovecraftDude888:

it also makes zero sense: most of us are drifting in and out of various shows on here, all kinds of music, and how are we "biased" then? how could she possibly make that assumption? If we were, we'd be stuck over at Z100 or listening to 104.3 or whatever for eternity. (and only that) Mike..awwwwwww!
Avatar 7:44am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- nice you guys ! : )
  7:45am
LovecraftDude888:

I'm prob. going back to bed soon but just wanted to hop on (haha RR) and check in for post breakfast bit....had fitful night sleep last night. more snow coming...haha it's a joke like
  7:45am
mike east:

Exactly, rabbit. Coens have done enough great that I'll see anything they make and give them the benefit of the doubt
  7:48am
LovecraftDude888:

I wanna see it but waiting for the DVD probably. have too many other films to catch up with as it is. have Charlie Wilson's War here and other things and PSH catch up going on gonna watch Hard Eight again...arghhh "do it Sister..Sister Sledge" (as PSH rolls those bones)
Avatar 7:49am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...myself - Sat. is my 'Wed.' - & as Kerouac said - '&-bent-to-it-again'
- yeah Coens: if it were just one questionable opinion against this one - but it's a few...meanwhile - the stupid Lego thing is reportedly the Third Testament...altho' I *did* see the commercial - & it's got Batman! - well why didn't you say so...I'm not crazy for Flicks like I am for Music - true - unlike some people...
  7:52am
mike east:

@lcd if your on a psh kick, check "love Liza" if u haven't seen it.
  7:53am
LovecraftDude888:

oh that's another one i missed somehow..thanks will order that up soon MIke
Avatar 7:56am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...oh - *that* PSH...the hyperbole of an actor dying too young being especially great may actually be true here...
  7:58am
LovecraftDude888:

oof huffing gas...that sounds uplifting! Love Liza I mean. I have Savages too, but that sounds grim as well
Avatar 8:05am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- another beloved feature of this program - Live performances - including interviews w/ & insights into Artists. Much appreciated.
...oh I'm the reverse - self-trained guitar by ear - & learning keyboard in my old age...not happening so far: 'This is Your Brain on Music' says there are lobes on the top of your brain - & one on one side gets larger if you learn Strings - & the Opposite one if you learn Keyboards !! - good on these disgustingly talented folk who do it all !...I think learning an instrument might be like learning a language - more plasticity for it on youth - but that;s why it's good - *because* it's hard...that book also says it's about Time (10,000 hours to be a Master)...
  8:12am
mike east:

Yeah not a feel good film but he. Takes some. Real risks in it. Synecdoche ny also really good I think

Good morning Jeffrey and listeners. This was a beautiful set. Diane Cluck will be playing in Paris in April, too bad Sondra Sun-Odeon isn't part of that tour.
Timely comment about live music, as I'm about to leave for an Indian music concert. Fifth of the week for me, in various genres

So true. Ny is such a hustle

Give Ashville, NC a shot, or at least drive through Sondra Sun-Odeon. You'll find support and like minded artists there.

Great singing and guitar sound, Sondra. If having writer block, why not covers? Old trad. songs or contemporay? just a suggestion.
Avatar 8:57am

Ironically, I found the TIME to finish this show. I know exactly what you both mean about time being so, so precious, much more than money.

Really enjoyed Sondra Sun-Odeon, both her interview and her playing / singing.

Thank you Jeffrey.

Will the live set be going to Free Music Archive by chance? I don't see anything by Sondra there right now.
