Thanks to Frangry and Michele for another great installment of Shut Up Weirdo. And thanks to everyone tuned in today to this (Put The Needle On The Record) show and all those who support us during our Silent Marathon - need more financial support for this particular show - see top of page. Since this is WFMU's "Singles Going Steady Week" with all 7" singles I am playing all seven inch records - some of which are 45's but many are 33rpm too. These are all from my collection and include straight up hip-hop and other stuff including the very first record I ever bought - a Temptations single on the Tamla Motown label. Also gonna play some Irish seven inch records from both the All City and Equilibrium labels - and (of course) a lot of Stones Throw and Peanut Butter Wolf related records.... Please feel free to share what the first 7" record you got was? - If you bought one that is - And thanks for bringing up the 27% of the goal figure to 100% by the end of this Silent Marathon WFMU show - this is the last week of the Marathon and last chance to support this show- Thank-you!

DJ Pnutz's Rackmount limited edition 45 includes 3 songs from her long awaited first album, 8 years in the making. A funky soul journey through the future of electro hip-hop. A regular listener to this show - the SoCal based DJ PNutz was a guest on this show in the past year when she donated 2 copies of this single to be included in the March 2014 Marathon on WFMU

More Irish hip-hop with reference to Celtic Tiger - which had just crashed when this came out in 2001 - with lyrics & production by Exile Eye and cuts by Troubledsoul. Exile Eye is Irish by way of San Jose CA - where his family is from - he moved with his family to Ireland as a young guy
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 7:22pm TheRapperWithNoName:

Wow this cat is RIDICULOUS. Good lookin Billy, as always.
  Fri. 10/25/13 7:28pm WFMUer:

hey people - support billy jam - his 27% hasnt changed during this show- meaning no one has supported him and he likely wont make his goal - 73% under. boo
  Fri. 10/25/13 7:34pm Marmalade Kitty:

I bought Paul M'cartney frog chorus 7" single when i was 12, but I'd NEVER admit it..!
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 7:36pm Billy Jam:

thanks Marmalade Kitty for shaing that - This version of "Paid In Full" by the late great UK hip-hop artist Derek B - credited as "Re-mix engineer Derek B" and "recorded in the US' and is different from LP version and from the Coldcut remix that sampled ( among other things) Ofra Haza - this one has the guitar riff from John Cougar Mellencamp's 1982 hit "Jack & Diane" and the chorus refrain from Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers "We Need Some Money" among other samples (including one of Derek B's own)
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 7:36pm Kristina Koffee:

I'm always impressed with the generosity of people who aren't local and still pledged. I'm really looking forward to the new performance space.
