Hey, James! Glad you could make it!
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:26pm Tony Coulter:

I'll be playing lots of '60s and early '70s stuff today, just because....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 12:27pm pacific standard simon:

You are totally playing my tunes, today, Tony.

"Give Booze A Chance" is a separate track from "Sofa Head" on the Anthropology CD. I guess the Peel Sessions version runs 'em together?
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:30pm Tony Coulter:

I've got you tune -- and I'm not givin' it back.

And yep, "Peel Sessions" joins those tracks together in holy matrimony.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:31pm Tony Coulter:

Um, "your tune"....
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:34pm northguineahills:

My little island on the Sound has gone quite chilly -- and now foggy, too.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:43pm Tony Coulter:

Sounds like the beginning of a Stephen King novel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 12:43pm Carmichael:

I grew up in the late 60s early 70s, and near San Francisco. So bring on the prog/psych/acid/rock!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 12:44pm Brian in UK:

Sopwith Camel, well I never. Great time slot, Tony.

'Biking down the road, Terry keeps his clips on'.

@ Carmichael: I'll keep sockin' it to ya....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 12:45pm Brian in UK:

@Carmichael. Love the 'grew up'.

Guess we are of a piece here.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:48pm Tony Coulter:

Piece be unto you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 12:49pm pacific standard simon:

@Carmichael - huh, so did I! Santa Rosa, to be specific.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I was just gonna say that.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:49pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Turnip!

uhhh, missed a great set. damn you, lunch!
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:53pm listener james from westwood:

i heard much of this last set from the kitchen. sounded good loud!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 12:56pm pacific standard simon:

I've been on a Youngbloods jag lately. There are a lot of gems on those records, but also a lot of **meh** cover songs.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:56pm Tony Coulter:

@ DCE: Couldn't you have just eaten the archive of your lunch later on?
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 12:56pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Listener James!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 12:58pm Uncle Michael:

Well, this is just more of today's astonishing playlist. Whew.

Garcia Gives the Drummer Radio?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 1:01pm Uncle Michael:

"This next one is a drummer's choice" was always a Bob Weir joke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 1:05pm Brian in UK:

Can still remember the impact of hearing 'Uncle Johns Bands' for the first time. Swear it was a Saturday night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 1:06pm Uncle Michael:

But was it One More Saturday Night?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 1:07pm pacific standard simon:

Up the Dead ante, Uncle Michael -- play a China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 1:08pm Brian in UK:

Just before going out to watch Speedway racing at Wembley Stadium. Riding my BSA 650.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:09pm Tony Coulter:

I've heard "Uncle John's Band" 10 million times -- mostly because my upstairs neighbor in Brooklyn used to play it over and over and over, in rotation with Pachelbel's Canon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 1:11pm Brian in UK:

That Canon must have been noisy. Did he have a license?
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:11pm Tony Coulter:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 1:13pm Uncle Michael:

I have a China>Rider in the to-do folder. I'm not gonna wear out the Dead though.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:16pm Tony Coulter:

"Need ya to beg my pardon, tend my garden" -- what the hell does that mean?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 1:17pm pacific standard simon:

It's not like I don't have at least a half-dozen good versions in my collection already.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 1:18pm pacific standard simon:

"Yer lookin' pallid, toss my salad"
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:18pm listener james from westwood:

in 1970? the alternate reads of that james gang line boggle the mind.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:20pm Doug Schulkind:

Tony Coulter, as good'n Greasy as ever.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Salutations, your Dougness!
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:33pm Tony Coulter:

Hey all -- lots of comments action today, which is great fer sure. But we also need to raise some dineros around here. Why not let us launder your filthy lucre? We will give it back to you as squeaky clean radio.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:38pm Tony Coulter:

I always type "The Lefte Banke" before I catch myself....
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:41pm DCE:

Yes could be so sweet and sappy in this phase...but I still like it
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:41pm Tony Coulter:

  Tue. 10/15/13 1:43pm Dean:

Listened just last night to Concert for George (Harrison) tribute from 2002, featuring A F-L.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:44pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Dean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 1:51pm Carmichael:

Killer set, Tony. I'm still reeling from Sopwith Camel, straightened out just in time to hear Left Banke.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Carmichael! Glad ya dugz it.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 1:56pm Tony Coulter:

And now some ZZ Topless for ya.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 1:58pm pacific standard simon:

Not enough Jefferson Airplane on the airwaves these days. Did Starship ruin it for them?
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:00pm Tony Coulter:

Those Starship albums are pretty dire, based on the few I've picked up in dollar bins. I've tried to find redeemable qualities, so far with no success.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:01pm Rich in Washington:

I've been listening the whole time, trying in vain to assemble a piece of Ikea furniture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:02pm Uncle Michael:

Don't overlook "Paul Kantner's Jefferson Starship."

It's *not* a Jefferson Starship album.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:03pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Rich! Dug the '68 special!
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:03pm Tony Coulter:

@ Uncle Michael!: Ah yes, I do know and like that one.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:06pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Tony! I merely sat and watched Alejandro and Dr. Zomb/Toby work their magic. I did play a few records, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 2:06pm pacific standard simon:

Michael, you should try playing American Prayer with an overdubbed laugh track. Or simultaneously with Jack Kerouac.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:06pm Carmichael:

After the 1st few albums, the Airplane kinda fizzled out, IMHO. Too much infighting for control eventually gave us Jefferson Starship, Starship, Kantner's Starship, et al ...

Having said that, Surrealistic Pillow is one of the greatest albums of its era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 2:12pm pacific standard simon:

The Hot Tuna contingent of the band continued to sound pretty good for some time after the rest of the band didn't.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:12pm Tony Coulter:

HEY! It's been over two hours with no pledges. This will not stand (or sit down). Won't someone pledge for stream and station? Pretty please with the substance of your choice on top.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 2:18pm pacific standard simon:

I'm afraid the discretionary portions of my first October paycheck scooted into other rabbit holes on the FMU landscape. We'll see about the second one when that arrives.

That said, Hell yes, guys. Please kick Tony some bucks if you haven't done anything yet -- he's worth it.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:18pm Rich in Washington:

Don't use your desktop tape dispenser as a hammer when assembling Ikea furniture. It's likely filled with sand to add weight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:19pm Uncle Michael:

Not anymore.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:20pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Simon!

Wise words, Rich. And be careful with the tweezers, too -- they'll crush the dwarf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/15/13 2:20pm pacific standard simon:

Just like the furniture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:23pm Carmichael:

Now you're talking, Tony. Great PF era!
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:26pm Tony Coulter:

Look into my eyes: You, yes you, will make a pledge to FMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:28pm Carmichael:

Tony, you seem to be a bigger Caravan fan than I, impossible as it may seem.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:29pm Tony Coulter:

I adore the first LP, in particular.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:29pm DCE:

haven't heard this Santana since...hmmm...been awhile!
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:31pm Rich in Washington:

Can any keyheads tell me what kind of organ that was played in that Caravan song? It wasn't a Mellotron/Chamberlain, was it? It reminds me of some of the keyboard sounds in Soft Machine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:31pm Carmichael:

Yes, Ether Way is my favorite early album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:32pm Carmichael:

Rich, it's a Hammond B3.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:32pm listener james from westwood:

ah, devil ether.
  Tue. 10/15/13 2:40pm Dean:

Tasavallan Presidentti next, perhaps? Jukka Tolonen?
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:43pm northguineahills:

Uhhmm, been busy, forgot give you a heavenly thanks. Got paid today. Will pledge during Doug's show when no one else is in the office. Thanks Tony!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:47pm Brian in UK:

PFM anyone. Ha!
Good work, Tony.
Rascal and scamp, great words.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/15/13 2:55pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks for the music, Tony.
Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:55pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Tue. 10/15/13 2:56pm Rich in Washington:
