Hey, you're getting pretty good at filling in. After the show today, can you head down to DC and fill in for Congress? I'm confident you'll have the government up & running again within three hours. Or maybe lead those people into the Patomac, pied piper-style
Avatar Mon. 10/7/13 12:18pm Carmichael:

Hi Donna, if you can tell me what Blue Notes track you played, I can provide you the song name.

The 1st track on the LP Jazz: The African Sound is called Switch, and it features Kippie Moeketsi. The album is technically credited to Chris McGregor, and not the Blue Notes band. But they all play on it.

Avatar Mon. 10/7/13 1:25pm Carmichael:

I can see why you're confused about all this, Donna. Here's a quote from McGregor's bio: "From 1948 until 1994, South Africa was under the rule of Apartheid, a strict policy of racial segregation whose name derived from an Afrikaans word meaning ‘apartness’. Despite this acrid atmosphere, pianist/ composer/ bandleader Chris McGregor, a white South African, spent the early 1960s crossing racial lines to organize, play in and record with racially mixed jazz bands in South Africa. In1963, he formed his first big band, The Castle Lager Big Band, which released the LP, Jazz: The African Sound (Gallo).

McGregor’s main band throughout the 1960s was the The Blue Notes ..."

It should look like this: rateyourmusic.com...

I can't find a version with 8 songs.
