Howdy Kat!!! Consarnit! I have a meeting until 3:30! *sobs*
  Mon. 9/9/13 12:19pm Boston Bob:

Hi kat: Hope all is good w you.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:22pm kat330:

'Tis, except I wish my lunch were more in line with this exotic sound (BLT, how 'merkan can you get), and the weather—which has been absolutely stunning here all summer—has turned a bit hot and sticky. Otherwise, very good! :)
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:29pm Mike East:

@kat330 - I was making blt's a few weeks ago with some tomaters that one of my wifes students gave us from the garden. I made a basil aioli (also from the garden) for it and added avocado which made it a bit more "exotic". They were absolutely delicious.....we are vegetarians this week, though.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:31pm kat330:

Yes, our garden tomatoes indeed. Full-on BLT season for us. I do not can and don't have a big enough freezer section to try that out (I hear you can freeze 'em), so we have to "suffer" by using them up best we can. :)
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:32pm kat330:

Of course, we've been heavily sharing this year with our tomato-robbing squirrels and a very dear bunny.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:34pm Mike East:

I hear jarring works well, but its a bit of a process. Someday I live in a place that's conducive to growing my own.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:35pm common:

this is purdy!
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:36pm Van in DC:

Great set!
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:36pm kat330:

@Mike: Yeah, the sentence may have been jarring, but by don't "can" that's the same thing I meant.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:40pm Mike East:

haha - I see that now. it was a bit jarring. My brain translated to "we do not and can not freeze them"
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:43pm northguineahills:

I have more jalapenos then I know what to do w/, and the first serranos are about a week away. Tomatillos are about a month from being ripe. Other then that, tons of parsley, cilantro, dill, basil, lettuce basil, and mustard. Tomatoes are flowering, so, hopefully I'll see some fruit in October.
Mon. 9/9/13 12:45pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

This is very soothing on the ears
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:46pm northguineahills:

Oh, and I have poblanos nearly ripe.
Mon. 9/9/13 12:48pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

And the unmistakeable vocals of Mr Bleckmann
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:52pm kat330:

Great music and nice clouds, too. Some of my fave cloud photos are at NASA's apod site. I couldn't locate the one I had as my desktop for ages, but here are a fine six:

@kat330, very interesting.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:57pm kat330:

@Andrew: Yeah, and can't fathom how some scientist named "mammatus" clouds. ;)
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 12:58pm Irene Trudel:

@kat 330, beautiful but angry clouds.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:01pm kat330:

That's nature, beautiful and awesome <--in the classical sense of that word.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:01pm Andrew Waterloo:

I guess boob cloud wasn't latin enough
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:05pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Kat, the cloud photos are beautiful, thank you for posting them
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:08pm kat330:

@Sean: Most welcome! Thank NASA, speaking of which: Van, any other DCers here, get to see the launch Friday?
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:10pm Van in DC:

I wanted to but fell asleep. Perfect night for viewing it though, from here.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:10pm kat330:

@Irene: Re: that Asperatus Cloud Over New Zealand photo, I immediately thought of Joni Mitchell's "Refuge of the Road" lyric: "A thunderhead of judgment was gathering in my gaze"
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:12pm Irene Trudel:

@kat, yeah that fits Joni perfectly!
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:14pm Sean in Bristol UK:

A set of beauty here, Irene, love the slide guitar on this track
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:14pm kat330:

Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:16pm Jeezy:

For god's sake, someone PLEASE take that ice cream truck on my block out with a bazooka. Don't those boobs know it's the first day of school?!
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:18pm Droll:

I wouldn't mess with them if it's this ice cream truck: www.vol1brooklyn.com...
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:18pm kat330:

@Jeezy: Hey, like Strangers on a Train, so no one will ever link us with a motive, let's trade ice cream truck bazooka blastings, ok? :) We have more than one, but the worst is "Turkey in the Straw." I never see anyone buying anything. Must be for drugs or something
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:19pm kat330:

How Droll. :)
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:20pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Droll, oh to have something like that over here
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:27pm Droll:

Once I was in Stockholm in January (sub-freezing, pitch dark in mid-afternoon) and there was a big group of people around a truck stopped in the street so I went over to see what was up. Ice cream truck. Apparently the Scandinavians don't mind eating ice cream in the cold. The non-melting aspect is sure convenient.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:30pm Van in DC:

I couldn't seem to find that live Mojave 3 you mentioned, Irene. Closest I found was a replay from your Lost in the Afternoon premium some years back. I'm probably just not searching right.

@Andrew: Don't know what it woud be in Latin, but there's an apt caption here beyond NASA's own ;) apod.nasa.gov...

What was that about Joe Frank? - I only half heard.

Thanks
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 1:59pm kat330:

Having some VERY weird connection issues.... almost logged me out even... another nice surprise like the Metheny: anyone else here hear the Jaga Jazzist track "Prungen" Bob W. played the other day? Really cool.
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 2:01pm Mike East:

@Scott - Wed. at 4pm, Irwin is playing a half hour Joe Frank episode from the "in the dark" series...as he has been doing for the past month or so. Check it out on the archives!
  Mon. 9/9/13 2:02pm Scott:

Super - thanks
Avatar    Mon. 9/9/13 2:07pm kat330:
