A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Good morning Trouble! Lotsa nice shapes in today's art. Speaking of art, I managed to see "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" at the Met before it closed. Did you know that part of the show was a recreation of the BATHROOM AT CBGB's?!?!?! Too funny.
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:18am Trouble:

hey jennique!! how are you? had heard about the bathroom bits of that show, very odd.
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:19am Trouble:

Héloïse Delègue is today's artist, little birdies
Avatar    Tue. 8/20/13 10:20am herb.nyc:

re: PUNK exhibit at metrop museum. it was sorta fun, sorta depressing (that whole co-opting thing). as for the cbgb's bathroom, i suggested to people that they enter it & wash their hands in the sink. or brush their teeth. or, use the toilet if they're adventurous.
Avatar    Tue. 8/20/13 10:20am Ike:

Cecile, for a second there I thought you meant somebody from Boards of Canada had died. Then I realized you meant Blüë Öystër Cült.
  Tue. 8/20/13 10:21am JoeyX:

Aw, I just finished Joe Boyd's memoir last night and tuned in in time for some Nick Drake, thanks Trouble!

I toil as the sun blazes through the window and this fine radio show smolders through the speakers.
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:33am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

To me, the bathroom recreation was missing profanity scrawled on it and the SMELL. Overall, it was very surreal and odd to see it there. Flipside was seeing the Ken Price sculptures. SO great!

we are moving labor day weekend, found an awesome place in Ferndale just north of 8 mile. its about 20 mins from school and 20 mins from downtown. looking forward to the move but still knee deep in things here in columbus
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:43am Trouble:

good luck patrick, i am sure you're looking forward to it. emily must be nearly bursting with excitement!! xo to you both
Avatar    Tue. 8/20/13 10:45am Ike:

Jennique, my mom and I both loved those Ken Price sculptures. I'm glad she was in town at the right time to see them. We skipped the punk exhibit. It sounded like a cheap attempt to re-create the success of the Alexander McQueen exhibit.
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:47am Dominick:

Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:51am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

HAHAHA!! Love this Elvis Marley mashup. This song is normally such a downer.
  Tue. 8/20/13 10:51am common:

this is a nice mashup.
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:53am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@Ike: I thought I read that Ken Price layered the colors on his sculptures and sanded them off to get the layered swirly look to them. Genius. I agree about the Alexander McQueen tie in. Since I missed McQueen, I went to PUNK and heard that they even kept the decor of one of the rooms the same. Kinda lame.
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 10:58am Trouble:

i just posted that delicious mashup on the this is the modern world facebook page. i learned about it from my fab friend keith....

Good morning, Trouble.  You are playing the soundtrack to my last day in New Jersey after a bunch of decades with one foot (or more) in this greatest of states.  So you have a big responsibility here.

For me, it's "St. Paul I love you but..."
Avatar    Tue. 8/20/13 11:28am Parq:

It would be a little ironic if Pete is moving to NYC after that song. Every new NYer goes through it. The ones who can't cut it leave, and the ones who can, stay. It's kind of self-selecting that way.
Avatar Tue. 8/20/13 11:29am Trouble:

i would say that lcd song is an anthem on the par with cut your hair by pavement! agree?
Avatar    Tue. 8/20/13 11:30am Cecile:

If you substituted Blinded by LA Rush for the other song, yeah.
Avatar    Tue. 8/20/13 11:32am Cecile:

I guess I 1/2 agree. It's as good as a Pavement anthem, but a different one. hahaha
Avatar    Tue. 8/20/13 11:34am Parq:

From the Wikipedia page for "Cut Your Hair":
The video was shown on an episode of the animated series Beavis and Butt-Head, in which Butt-Head said of the video, "This is supposed to be funny".

Life is hard. Should I keep the Apple Pie Jam I bought for myself on a trip, or give it to the neighbors who did me the favor (again) of taking in my newspapers and my trash/recycle containers? I forgot to pick something else up for them. Of course, once I've brought the question/choice up at all....they'll win. We doin' all the good we can.
