Upcoming event:

Saturday, August 10th, 3am - 6am: Brother JT Live in WFMU's Love Room - Warm's the New Cool
John Terlesky (aka Brother JT) is an author, painter, talk show host, animator, and sometimes sports fan (depending on how his teams are doing), and has also been known to be a bit of a monster on guitar, releasing over 30 albums in as many years as a solo artist and also as part of the legendary Pennsylvania garage band The Original Sins. Groove-laden gospel psych with a touch of T Rex inspired pop for good measure, JT graces the WFMU stage with friends Jamie (drums), Ron (bass) and Mike (gtr) to play some of his classics and showcase his latest release, “The Svelteness of Boogietude”. Get ye healed as the JT4 rip through an hour of the hits, invoking the power of rawk with the sounds of the Sins to the present day. Take your trousers off and come to Church!

Good morning Bill and all.

Thank goodness for the playlist. I was wondering what I was listening to.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:14am KP:

KP reporting for duty, Sgt. Mac!
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:18am Bill Mac:

Hi Fellahs...
I thought Dagmar Krause would be a dead giveaway.
At Ease, Soldier!
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:20am Brian in UK:

Hello Bill, Martyn & KP.
Just quick butt in afore dog walk.
@KP Wanted to ask you what do you think of Roger McGuinn's first solo album from way back?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:22am KP:

Is that the one w/ Jolly Roger on it?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:22am Bill Mac:

Hey Brian, what the what?! McGuinn could be something I play from today. Let me know when you get back.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:25am Brian in UK:

Not that was Cardiff Rose. It had Draggin' & I'm So Restless, 'Hannoi Hannah'
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:26am Bill Mac:

@KP That was Cardiff Rose, released in 76. Looks like he had at least 2 other solos before that one.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:27am Bill Mac:

That's the one that came out in '73.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:29am KP:

Love that album and the cover. It was self titled. He started great solo career with it, particularly the autobiographical opening track, I'm so Restless.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:30am Brian in UK:

Bill, McGuinns' electric twelve string Rickenbacker has become part of the fabric of modern music.
@ Bill my favourite track is from the second one Peace on You. An Al kooper song called"(Please Not) One More Time" Oh bracketed song titles.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:30am Jay/London:

well here we are, these saturday's seem to come round faster and faster or is it me getting old .. oh well good morning Bill and all
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:31am Brian in UK:

Hey Jay.
Better cut & run.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:32am Bill Mac:

@Jay - I think it's bit 'o both my friend. Best to make the best of it, you know?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:33am Jay/London:

hey Brian there is still some steam in this old dog yet
  Sat. 7/27/13 3:33am KP:

Jolly Roger was on Cardiff Rose, another classic. The nautical one on first album was "Heave Away."
  Sat. 7/27/13 3:34am KP:

Brian, I don't remember that Kooper song.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:34am Jay/London:

@ Bill thanks for the advice :)
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:35am Bill Mac:

Voof! Hey KP, did you turn the light out? I can't see you!
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:36am Bill Mac:

I try my best Jay. It sounds like advice an old man would give doesn't it?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:38am Jay/London:

@ Bill we are as old as we want to be in our heads ... it's just the pains that let us down
  Sat. 7/27/13 3:39am KP:

I might have mentioned the Byrds and Mcguinn and related acts were huge in New York and particularly Long Island where I lived. I must have seen roger 15 to 20 times as a solo. Sometimes w/ band but mostly not. Saw the Clarence White Byrds at least four times.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:41am Jay/London:

seems a dark set this morning with words such as insane, black, closer, and own thoughts
  Sat. 7/27/13 3:41am KP:

I fell off the page. Using iPhone and the whole screen won't fit on it. I mentioned this to Ken. I'm to lazy to get up and use real computer.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:44am Steve R:

I always like it when you fall off the chair
  Sat. 7/27/13 3:44am KP:

Plus I'm no longer used to staying up this late. I often fall asleep with iPhone in hand. That's problematic with computer.
  Sat. 7/27/13 3:50am KP:

There was a David Lynch TV special to benefit transcendental meditation. It had star studded cast featuring Paul McCartney and Lynch sang on it. It was awesome and weird, fittingly.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:53am w41:

Good morning, Bill & listeners... How's it going? Has the heatwave @ NYC area ceased already?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:55am Bill Mac:

Sorry dubbuyuh, just finished typing something in Swedish. It was warm today but not the roaster last week was.... maybe summer's over already.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:56am Andy in Berlin:

well SOMEbody overslept today! Good morning everyony (finally)!
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:57am Stanley:

And its also a good morning from me.
David Lynch and Donovan came to Edinburgh a few years back to talk about starting a Lynchian transcendental school here. I don't think anything came of it. Donovan did sing a few songs, though.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:57am w41:

You forgot the alliteration marks! So, perhaps you've just written something completely unintended...
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:58am Bill Mac:

Fear not Andy, we're just warming up. have some toast.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:58am Jay/London:

@ w41 think it is about over here in the UK we are going to have thunderstorms and heavy rain today, down to the upper 70s f today ... morning Andy and Stanley
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 3:58am w41:

It is over, at least here
  Sat. 7/27/13 4:00am Martyn:

Upper 70's ... sounds good to me.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:00am w41:

@Jay hang on there! It seems like just everyone had a tropical last week and a stormy this one! What's going on here?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:01am Bill Mac:

Been good here, but just this week. Seems everytime I went out last week there was a stupid cloud waiting for me.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:02am Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill - working on it...
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:05am Stanley:

Hi Jay
Looks nice out of the window.
Got soaked to the skin the other night after a night out on the pop. Quite enjoyed it!
  Sat. 7/27/13 4:05am KP:

Just last month I was getting home at 5 am. I always said I was a natural night owl but soon fell into the squaresville schedule. This is only very late one I tune in. There's two midnight to 3's I still catch but i miss the overnights
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:06am Jay/London:

@w41 a storm is coming over from France
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:08am Stanley:

Janet and John. Does anyone over here remember them in the sex education books they gave us?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:09am Jay/London:

yeah Stanley it's looks good here as well .. just have to get stuff done before the rain and storm hits
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:10am Jay/London:

@ Stanley I remember those books
  Sat. 7/27/13 4:10am KP:

Having just moved to city thing that gets me is how hot and humid it is at night. Eighty at midnight is hard to take, plus you walk or take hellish subway. In suburbs in AC in car and wherever you're going.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:12am w41:

a squid eating dough in a polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous, got me?!!
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:12am Jay/London:

@KP i have tried to use the bus in the last few weeks as the subway is hell ... but still have to use it if am in rush

Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:21am Bill Mac:

No sir! I don't have that kind of time.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:23am Jay/London:

so someone must have been waiting for the bus for a hell of a long time to have done that Bill
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:26am Steve R:

The mother of all comps, great song
www.amazon.com...
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:30am Bill Mac:

@Jay, Reminds me of graffiti I saw in the Logan railroad tunnel entrance. Someone had bothered to write the entire holiday poem "Christmas is a Coming" on the wall only to get to the part where it goes
"If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do
If you haven't got a ha'penny, then F--- you!"
Better yet, some concerned parent spent the time to chip off the naughty word. Memories of youth....
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:31am Bill Mac:

@Steve
For sure, I'm diggin' this comp every week!
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:35am Jay/London:

love that story Bill there are some strange people out there .. i think the person did not like Christmas and and was lonely.. but am sure would like to know why they did it
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:39am Bill Mac:

To be honest with you, I kind of knew it was some classic poem, but I never thought to find out how the poem really ended.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:42am Stanley:

Sorry for my silence. I was reminded by Mrs S that the Janet and John books had nothing to do with sex, so I had to search the internet to scratch the mental itch that I had' For the record the sex book we had as kids was 'Peter and Pamela Grow Up'.
Done.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:45am Jay/London:

@ Stanley no never heard of that book
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:46am Brian in UK:

Lovely walk in the cool woods.

@Stanley there was Janet & John from Ginn I believe and Ladybird published Peter & Jane. Good basic reading schemes.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:48am Brian in UK:

There was Five go mad on Mescaline but that was the comedy club, a misomer.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:49am Brian in UK:

There are some great record labels today, Bill.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:50am Brian in UK:

Shagging is such a great word.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:51am Jay/London:

is it time for a bit of comedy bill ?
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:52am Stanley:

@Brian - oo'er
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:52am Bill Mac:

You'd get away with it here. Wimmens love the accent. They don't even care what you're saying.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:54am Andy in Berlin:

@ Brian - as a word, I prefer snogging. Can't beat onomatopoeia.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:59am Andy in Berlin:

...though I imaging one would prefer to be shagging
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 4:59am Brian in UK:

Andy one thing leads to another.

Hey big Al.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 5:01am Brian in UK:

Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 5:03am Andy in Berlin:

around my house we had Stan Freberg, Lenny Bruce and Buddy Hackett doing The Chinese Waiter
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 5:06am Brian in UK:

Still trying to learn Lenny Bruce's Yiddish terms. Used to think that 'fressing' had a completely different meaning
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 5:07am Bill Mac:

Buddy Hackett!!!! Dad had the Lenny Bruce records locked up in his safe along with the Rusty Warren party records - Knockers Up! Woo hoo - and not funny either.
Avatar Sat. 7/27/13 5:07am Andy in Berlin:

@brian - that's dressing not fressing
