Hi Jeffs and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/17/13 12:05pm Uncle Michael:

Happy fellated Fathers Day?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:07pm Shaun:

*Looks down ear trumpet* Yeah, volume a bit low.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:08pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, Doug.
I mean, THANKS, DOUG!!!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:08pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:08pm Jeff Golick:

Hello, duke!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:09pm Jeff Golick:

Uncle Michael, not wasting any time. Most fathers are deserving, of course.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:10pm Jeff Golick:

Hey, Shaun. Welcome, and thanks for the level info. How now?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:10pm Doug Schulkind:

Haven't yet noticed a change in levels, daddy-o.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:11pm Jeff Golick:

Good Maunday to you, too, LJfW!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:15pm Shaun:

HI, Jeff. Volume's still below the face-melting/hair-frying optimum.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:17pm Doug Schulkind:

Maybe a slight uptick in volume, but it could/should be higher. Maybe you should adjust your computer's overall volume output? Do it one notch at a time as this will be a more macro adjustment.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:18pm Doug Schulkind:

Now NO volume.
Avatar    Mon. 6/17/13 12:19pm duke:

I like this drone sort of stuff you are playing
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:20pm Shaun:

"Old man shakes ear trumpet at cloud".
Avatar    Mon. 6/17/13 12:20pm duke:

damn...listening to the main stream - Duh!
I was wondering about all the talk about volume. It sounded fine, except it was the wrong stream
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:20pm Doug Schulkind:

Sound is back!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:21pm Jeff Golick:

yeeesh hang on!!!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:22pm Jeff Golick:

Note to self: don't mess around with Control Panel/Sound defaults while show is on.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:22pm Doug Schulkind:

Sound is back but still should be louder.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:22pm Jeff Golick:

Sorry about that, folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/17/13 12:28pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks, FUNKED UP, and welcome. I'm sorry to say I funked it up earlier -- guess we'll have to play it again soon...

Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:32pm FUNKED UP:

Sounds good to me!
remember John Zorn with some of his noise/noisy records?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:37pm FUNKED UP:

Also the sorely missed Last Exit being one of my favorite noise jazz bands!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:38pm Doug Schulkind:

Sounding gooooo oooood. Needed two syllables.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:41pm Gary:

Howdy, everyone!

Zorn & Last Exit: hard to top for noise slabs, FUNKED UP!

Wonderful stuff!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:47pm Jeff Golick:

Yeah, FUNKED UP. If any group of musicians was ready to receive the message and wisdom of electric period Miles, it was the Japanese.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:48pm Jeff Golick:

I'm not embarrassed (enough) to say that I've not heard of a single one of the players on this record: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:49pm FUNKED UP:

never forget first time I heard He loved him madly off Get Up with it - totally entranced me, a lifetime music moment!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:50pm Shaun:

Faving hard and if anyone calls this 'kosmigroov', I'm glad they were bullied at school.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:51pm FUNKED UP:

talk about noisy Jazz, Coltrane kicked up a real storm with his playing in Japan on his tour, I think it was in 65 or 67!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 12:52pm FUNKED UP:

Yuji runs the voodoo down!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:08pm Doug Schulkind:

This Thursday at noon is Charlie Lewis' final Busy Doing Nothing show for a while. He is taking a break from his show for at least several months—hopefully not too terribly longer. Stay posted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 6/17/13 1:19pm northguineahills:

Seems to be another star-clicking day.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:20pm Jeff Golick:

@nhg: You starclicker.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:30pm Doug Schulkind:

Way better than being a star-..cker.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:32pm FUNKED UP:

by the way Doug - what happened to David Blumin's show on wfmu? Why has it gone bye byes - really enjoyed it even if it was a bit esoteric, weird and out there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 6/17/13 1:37pm Carmichael:

Uh oh. Didi I just lose the stream? Or is it just me?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:38pm FUNKED UP:

Genius track from a GENIUS! -
John Martyn - one of my music greats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 6/17/13 1:39pm Carmichael:

OK, back now. Prolly just a hiccup. I'm NOT panicking.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:39pm FUNKED UP:

same here Carmichael - also sound seemed to distort - may be set too loud?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:40pm Doug Schulkind:

I have no idea why Daniel Blumin's show is off the schedule. Most of the time, especially during the schedule spanning the summer, it is because DJs need to take the time off. Right now, there are way more DJs than there are slots, so sometimes, it's just about sitting out a schedule or time until the jigsaw puzzle rearranges in your favor. Again, no idea why Daniel is off.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:40pm FUNKED UP:

had too turn down my volume as sound clipping!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:41pm Jeff Golick:

Hmm...adjusting settings/levels a tad...
Avatar    Mon. 6/17/13 1:45pm duke:

This Cecil Taylor thing is cookin'
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:46pm FUNKED UP:

gonna play anything from Air's Premiers SymptĂ´mes - their brillaint debut album in 1997?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:47pm Jeff Golick:

@duke: and it's the 29th take!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:47pm Jeff Golick:

@FUNKED UP: I think we've stretched this Air theme as far as we can go today... Nice accent circumflex, however.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:49pm FUNKED UP:

thanks Doug, I always fear the worst, even at WFMU - that the suits want the interesting weirdos out to be replaced by some house techno dj (true in his case) that hey is way more popular!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:51pm FUNKED UP:

apparently you played some real fresh air at the beginning of the show!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 1:59pm FUNKED UP:

so this was a 7" meant to get up the pop charts?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:02pm FUNKED UP:

would sound interesting next to some German pop shlagen 7" in 1974!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:04pm Jeff Golick:

Not sure why FMP decided to release this as a 7" single, FUNKED UP! Things were different then? See also: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:24pm Shaun:

Blimey! Last place I expected to hear the Boosh...
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:25pm Jeff Golick:

LOVE LOVE the Boosh.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:27pm Shaun:

Julian Barratt is Allan Holdsworth fan NUMBER ONE.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:28pm Jeff Golick:

Really? Not Gary Numan then?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:32pm Shaun:

What, Julian's a Numanoid or Numan likes a bit of synthaxe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/17/13 2:34pm Uncle Michael:

(pant, pant)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 6/17/13 2:34pm northguineahills:

The gf pressuring me to trim my magazine collection, so I'm getting rid of all Wire and other magazines from 2006-2013. I didn't tell her that all issues are now available online, so, I'm keeping 1996-2005. Similarly, at Nat Geos from 2000-2003 are leaving.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:35pm Jeff Golick:

@Shaun: Thinking more of Vince Noir, I guess. Reality and all that...
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:39pm Shaun:

Not really a Boosh fan, i'm afraid. Too Fielding-phobic. (He's horribly overexposed here).
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:46pm Jeff Golick:

Yes, I'm sure too much of Fielding is not a good thing. A little goes a long way, and my only exposure was via the DVDs and the radio show.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:46pm Jeff Golick:

@UM: Just back from a run?
  Mon. 6/17/13 2:46pm KtrsBklyn:

Liking this! playing us out with something wife-friendly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/17/13 2:48pm Uncle Michael:

Ok, say you're 53 years old and leaving a meeting on one side of a college campus to return to your office on the other side of the campus and a 25 year-old female coworker that would otherwise have to walk back to the office asks if she can have have a ride in your sports car. What would you do. And when your wife asks you how your day was, would you mention this occurrence?
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:50pm Jeff Golick:

@ngh: I get that periodical(ly), only with CDs...
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:50pm Jeff Golick:

@KtrsBklyn: We try, we try!
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:53pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 2:55pm FUNKED UP:

northguineahills - did you sell the Wire back issues or just throw them out?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/17/13 2:58pm Uncle Michael:

It was hypothetical!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/17/13 2:58pm Uncle Michael:

I have this friend...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 6/17/13 3:01pm northguineahills:

I haven't decided yet I have bunch of stacks behind me. If I sell them, it would probably something like $4.20 total for 6 years worth.
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 3:01pm Shaun:

"We were just driving on slowhand ".
Avatar Mon. 6/17/13 3:02pm Shaun:

"Road". But probably best to stop there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/17/13 3:02pm Uncle Michael:
