Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:21pm pacific standard simon:

This is even funnier if you know what George Rock looked like, and can imagine the sight of him singing it.

Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:34pm Brian in UK:

@PSS the conger eel last night was very bony. Bye the bye is No.14 what 7+7 is?
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 12:35pm G:

The little plastic lock-in tab on my old DSL cord busted off a few weeks ago, and if I bump the laptop it jiggles out and I lose stream. UGH, gotta get another cord! Such is laziness...
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 12:35pm G:

No, no. 14 is what 8 + 6 is... :)
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:37pm pacific standard simon:

Brian: it's the flip of 7+7, but it's been so long since I've listened to it that I can't remember what it is.
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:39pm Brian in UK:

Takes me back, I bought Da Capo on Disques Vogues in Biarritz in western France in '68. Thought I was dead cool having a French copy.

This Polaris is good-n-proggy!
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 12:49pm efd:

I try and try to compare this singer to his backing group, and it can't be done. It just can't!
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:50pm pacific standard simon:

Wikipedia says "No. 14" is "an out-take from the band's earlier recordings", but does that mean an out-take of "7 And 7 Is"? I donated my crappy old turntable, so I can't check.
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:51pm Amanda:

Ha! Very nice, efd.

Since we're on the subject, I stand by Billy Bragg's cover of 7+7 is. Not as better than the original of course, but as very good.
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:52pm pacific standard simon:

Hey, Evan... sounds like it's "get down time".
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 12:52pm G:

Lord, I'm Losin You
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:53pm pacific standard simon:

Amanda, have you heard Bragg's cover of "Walk Away Renee"? It's on that mix CD that I keep meaning to send you.
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 12:54pm Doug Schulkind:

@efd
I bet you loved the early albums by Guns & Butter (before they sold out).
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:55pm Brian in UK:

@efd looking forward to listening to Jacco Gardner but it will have to be on the archive.
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 12:57pm Amanda:

@simon, yes, I have that Walk Away Renee cover! He doesn't really sing it, which I at first found disappointing, but it's nice.

"If I Had A Hammer"?
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:12pm Amanda:

Hello bob, how's nd?
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:14pm ndbob:

bitterly cold - zero again this morning but finally it will begin to warm up in a couple days
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:14pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks for playing that, Amanda. I didn't hear your break so I will have to rely on the archive to learn what you said about it.

@UncleMichael that will forever be known as the first song not off of Public Enemy's "Nations of Millions" played by my 1st college roommate on his stereo.
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 1:28pm G:

The D will get you to Harlem. The E will get you to Jackson Heights.
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 1:30pm G:

I fought the turntable, and the turntable won :)
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:30pm Uncle Michael:

Your roomie jumped straight from PE to Duke E?
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 1:31pm G:

When I fight the turntable, the turntable always wins
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:32pm Rich in Washington:

DJ mistakes are the radio gods' way of inserting spontaneousness into the show.
Besides, the listeners had no idea you had planned on playing, not playing, accidentally playing twice, etc.
Don't explain, don't complain, etc..
Avatar Wed. 3/27/13 1:33pm Stevel:

Yo, D.J. Suchez Mice Elf!
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:33pm pacific standard simon:

Doug is my co-pilot.
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:33pm Brian in UK:

If in doubt say nowt (nothing)
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:33pm Uncle Michael:

Sadly, today is the third of five consecutive Wednesdays where work will interfere with my ability to hang with you all till the end of Amanda's show. I'll be leaving in about 15 minutes but will rejoin you tomorrow for Charlie & Matt.
Wed. 3/27/13 1:34pm Listening Out There:

Pew York. That starts with a "P"...
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:34pm Uncle Michael:

And that rhymes with "T" and that stands for...
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:36pm pacific standard simon:

@UM - After I get a job at my new location, I will no longer be able to listen to Amanda live. I will, however, be able to listen to YOU live.
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:37pm Uncle Michael:

That's cold comfort to you, Simon.
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:39pm Uncle Michael:

However, it provides me with warmth. Gracias.

Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:55pm Amanda:

Don't feel sad! You have a whole week - 2 hours to yourself, free of my nonsense.

Sorry, I tots forgot to input that Looking Glass song until it was over
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 1:59pm pacific standard simon:

I have a bunch of this "nonsense", archived on CD, for future comfort if FMU (or my internet connection) ever blows up.

I GOT TO GO I GOT TO GO
Avatar    Wed. 3/27/13 7:58pm Parq:

Hi, 'Manda. I got to listen to most of the show while clearing up some late work. I had fun. With the show, not with the work. I especially dug hearing the Bugs Bunny Easter cartoon, which I love too. "I can't miss with my Dick Tracy hat!" is one of my all time favorite Looney Tunes lines.
