Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 3:35pm Ike:

As always, I'm getting Fabio's premium. Almost every year, it's my favorite premium. Dave Mandl's premium might be serious competition this year though.

chocolate monk, I've got your Give Some Idea of the Boys at work playing over the talking...wowza!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 3:58pm chocolate monk:

DCE,, wowza,, the Marvo Men! I sent a copy of that disk to WFMU, so hopefully they will jam that shit sometime too,, its a crude vibe tribute to the bob cobbing (too my ears anyhow).

What are we in the running for, like last year you had a Conrad Schnitzler box... sorry just got here.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:09pm Loren:

I see the Gristleism box or Gary Panter book... is there a price difference in pledge?
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:09pm Caryn:

Is the Panter book one of the grand prizes, or just a 15 buck one?
  Thu. 3/7/13 4:12pm nic:

branca_great piece
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:13pm Loren:

okie dokie, check is in the mail... thanks Fabio & Dave and the whole FMU crew!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:13pm Fabio:

The Panter book is the grand prize for this show. A mouse pledge ($365) is the minimum to get in the running for this as it is a massive item.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:14pm Caryn:

Thanks for the info, Fabio! I suspected as much.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:16pm chaoserene:

so it's the slipcase box then I presume.. I own one and I highly recommend it, it's literally a treasure trove of art, very much worth supporting Fabio for!
  Thu. 3/7/13 4:18pm Martin:

Love Ascention! I too have it on vinyl from 99. and esg and...Very fun place. I already pledged once during Andy Breckman soak to double the $ and have no more. But I love your show and Dave's and hope I can find some money on the street or something now or next year to give more to FMU.
This sounds familiar and great...but to hear it live WAS transcendent. 3x. Once in the tiny Tier3, where I heard Liquid Liquid and Dog Eat Dog and Rhys Chatham. Crazy teen life and yes, I will say...some good ole days. Thanks for playing Branca and so much great music.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:20pm BigLankyGeordie:

Loving the show, any chance of playing some Autechre fur us bleepy Brits? Michael in North Yorkshire, England.

Fabio, would you say something to us in native Brooklynese?
Thu. 3/7/13 4:45pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

And part of this sounds like a blue movie.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:46pm Green Mountain Man Mark:

When I was in second grade a girl on the playground went ontop of a tunnel slide and peed on all of the boys as we slid down. She lifted her skirt and wore nor panties. Spread legs wide and pissed on us.

Damn, I have to motor though I hate to tear myself away from this pledge-a-thon, Good luck Fab & Co.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:50pm steve:

everyone is calling them "vinyl players" these days for some reason...
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:55pm Caryn:

Seriously, I've been looking through the premiums list since it arrived, and it's by my side all the time now during the Marathon. I keep referring to it and scribbling on it. And so far, I've managed to whittle down the list to 44 premiums I still need to get! This is going to be impossible!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 4:56pm chaoserene:

i threw down on this one!
  Thu. 3/7/13 4:58pm Turntable:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:09pm steve:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:12pm northguineahills:

If passing out 10 years ago w/ a FMU dj (w/ others) count, then, I've already done that.

But, seriously, waiting by the phone for the official acknowledgement that my job will start, so I can jump into this madness.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:14pm Cory:

ngh, what did you do to keep from losing your mind while unemployed?
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:15pm chocolate monk:

Sten Hanson "Don't Hesitate, do it, do it right now"
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:17pm BigLankyGeordie:

Proto-weekend?
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:18pm northguineahills:

listen to WFMU, read books, walk around the city (but I can't do anything overly entertaining). I owe the gf quite a bit in rent $. I'll try to guilt her into donating (I do so every year, regardless), as, there's usually very few donations from Mexico.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:20pm northguineahills:

You mean, someone that runs the Dream House, that decided that he/she should possess all of the authorship of all sessions no matter who else was present at said sessions and had input in those proceedings?
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:21pm Carmichael:

Are you back with that girl that dumped you, NGH??
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:21pm glenn:

to find north brooklyn, look for hipsters wearing parkas. HAHAHA. god i'm funny.

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:24pm glenn:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:24pm chocolate monk:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:25pm chocolate monk:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:26pm BigLankyGeordie:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:27pm steve:

we may have parkas glenn but we also have tony conrad...
  Thu. 3/7/13 5:27pm Dweeb #3:

I think Night of the Hunter has more in common with John Carpenter's Halloween or the Coens' No Country for Old Men than any noir of the time.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:28pm glenn:

...and devil cats.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:28pm Carmichael:

@Glenn: -20.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:29pm Parq:

I really got a lot out of seeing Hunter, and I don't mean to disparage it, but I thought Cape Fear was better -- for me, way more unnerving. The everyday, candid presentation of the events in Fear made it more believable, and therefore way more terrifying. Just one guy's opinion.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:31pm steve:

and devil cats!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:34pm tim from champaign:

Let's keep giving Fabio our love and pledges. He's so knowledgeable about film and music. Keep Strength Through Failure alive!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:34pm northguineahills:

Well, she sort of dumped me, but never moved out. Once she realized I was a moron (for the email typo on my resume), and not a deadbeat, she changed her tune.
Thu. 3/7/13 5:34pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

That Gary Panter book is nearly priceless! What a great grand prize!!
  Thu. 3/7/13 5:36pm nic:

this is great
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:36pm sFrances from VA:

ngh: I'm in the same unemployed boat~and grateful that the art museum is free here & within walking distance, as is the library. With any luck: I'll be able to make a schwagaliscious DJ premium donation next week....
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:36pm Caryn:

@Parq: I agree that "Cape Fear" has an edge of reality that "Hunter" doesn't, but I feel that's the point of "Hunter". It's supposed to be more about mood, almost like a slightly surreal nightmare. Laughton was closer to the mood of German cinema, which I suspect is one reason "Hunter" was not popular when it was first released.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:37pm Nardo:

There are things you do hate, Lord. Perfume-smellin' things, lacy things, things with curly hair.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:38pm steve:

that Gary Panter book set is incredible... if you're thinking of a mouse pledge now is as good a time as any.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:39pm ottovonbqe:

That was my first thanks! thanks!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:41pm glenn:

who lives in west MILFord?
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:42pm northguineahills:

Once I fixed the email typo on my resume (once someone noticed it), I started to get job offers. Been to numerable interviews, just waiting. I've delivered a litter of mice here at previous marathons, but, until I get that call, I'm being cautious. Once I do work, I'll pledge regardless.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:42pm Mike East:

west milford is right up the highway from me
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:43pm northguineahills:

The library and my gf's subscription to Netflix also keeps my sanity, albeit for the immediate future.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:44pm northguineahills:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:44pm Cecile:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:49pm ottovonbqe:

Wow. thanks!
What did I win?
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:49pm Cecile:

DOUG
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:50pm northguineahills:

@Matt: That's what I intend to do, but I'd rather have a good idea what my income will be so, after I pay off my current debts, I can pledge an adequate amount.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:51pm Matt from Springfield:

@Mike: In my imaginary world, Todd Rundgren's "Sometimes I Don't Know What To Feel" is the #1 "mainstream pop" hit right now!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:51pm Lewis:

@MikeEast - you mean Mr. Giant Man is NOT mainstream?!...
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:51pm northguineahills:

Doug, taking an all day Amtrak east to the PATH! nice!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:52pm Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: Great! Just wanted to make sure everyone else is aware of that, if they're hard up at the moment.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:52pm BigLankyGeordie:

It's been such an entertaining show tonight - loved every minute fellas.

Clay P is in the house!! And he's "terrified" of something!
  Thu. 3/7/13 5:58pm Close Listener:

It's "The Story of Melody Nelson," not "The History..." "Histoire," in French, means both, but the meaning here is the former.
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:58pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Matt: It's about an old man obsessed with/having sex with a 14-year-old American girl named Melody Nelson, and then SHE DIES. Sorry I spoiled the plot for y'all. But the music is SOOOO GOOOOD.
Hi Cecile!
Hi DCPat!
kisses all around!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:59pm northguineahills:

Amen, Wendy! That's my favorite Serge album!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 5:59pm Matt from Springfield:

STAY Fabio! Julie's here, and DUANE! What a Quadumvirate that would make!!!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 6:00pm Matt from Springfield:

Kisses, Wendy! :)
Good plot, suitably "far from the typical American song"!
Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 6:00pm Cecile:

Avatar Thu. 3/7/13 6:00pm glenn:
