Really enjoying the flow so far. Too often these days when I turn on FMU it goes right off again. Nice to hear some DJs keeping the free-form faith.

DC is filled with these nuckleheads. Usually it happens when it gets colder though. And then the women put on pj pants and tan fuzzy boots.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:45am Doug Schulkind:

@dcp
Try triple-playlisting. It'll blow your mind. Or at least your Internet connection.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:46am Tom G:

A guy in shorts was standing next to me on the train last night clearly ahead of today's pack. I was ready to forgive if he seemed like maybe he'd just come from the gym but that was def not the case. He was bundled up a bit more on top .. mixed messages.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:46am Jennique:

Scott, I saw a dude walking around yesterday without a jacket in short sleeves. Kinda what you are talking about of the early-shorts-wearing knunckleheads. The Onion did a funny article on the UPS man in shorts as a harbinger of spring.

Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 10:46am Cecile:

I love it a whole lot, tim. I can't really pick a winner, but I kind of rooting for Jinx Monsoon - Seattle's premier Jewish narcoleptic drag queen.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:47am tim from champaign:

Last night I saw a huge group of college students running in their undies, if that counts, Scott.
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 10:47am Cecile:

Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 10:57am DCE:

ooof the dread autotune! infecting the world!
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:58am tim from champaign:

I don't think I've seen the Jinx Monsoon season yet. I rooted hard for the big girl from the small Georgia town (I forgot her name and which season).
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:58am Sigurdur:

kuti.. dread auto.,.,.,hehe,.,.,.,
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:58am βrian:

Autotune must die.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 10:59am Rev. Turnip Druid:

HAH, I think this discussion came up last week as well. This is the only context where I'll accept autotune: these wacky cats crank the crazy-legs hell out of it. As it should be.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:00am Cory:

I love the Polysic's use of autotune
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:00am βrian:

Autotune, like other forms of torture, is never acceptable.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:01am Rev. Turnip Druid:

in other words: if it must be there, over-use it to apocalyptic proportions. It becomes surreal. But in the context of western pop music, the perpetrators must be strung up and fed to termites.
  Fri. 3/1/13 11:01am Lucy:

Listening to this show in my sleep produces some weird dreams, especially when Scott was talking about clothing and people being in bands. But it's hard to tell what you were actually saying and what my dream mind thought you were saying.
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:02am dcp:

the only place I like it is on Adventure Time
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:02am Sigurdur:

I like Lucy!
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:03am βrian:

It's what Joseph Mengele dances to.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:04am Rev. Turnip Druid:

So what is autotune, really? A rackmount FX unit? Stomp-box? Some physical hardware, or a pc plugin thing? Can it be abused further? Taken off-the-map into glitch/noise territory? Just curious.
  Fri. 3/1/13 11:04am Lucy:

I see I'm one step below Mrs Ball.
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:06am Cecile:

I like Autotune if it sounds like Zapp.
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:07am Cecile:

Or at least Midnight Star
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:08am fred:

I only like autotune when it's extreme. And preferably used on instruments it wasn't designed for, not voice
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:09am Rev. Turnip Druid:

yeh, that's my thought (fred) -- If "mis-used," any audio-mod tool could potentially be good fun.
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:11am fred:

@Rev Turnip Druid: TG Gondard has been using one live for vocals, the good thing is that it doesn't work as intended in a noisish set. It can be a fun effect
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:13am DCE:

I've never seen a stompbox autotune--usually it's a plug in...I think there are some rackmounts available. But put that shit in a stompbox and put a patent on that, and watch the $ flow in.
     Fri. 3/1/13 11:14am 12539:

Is this intentionally slowed?
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:16am Scott McDowell:

I can't tell, it's not marked on the LP. I *think* this is the right speed!
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:17am Richard Nixon:

Sounds perfect to me!
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:18am Scott McDowell:

At any rate, selector's choice!
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:21am dcp:

drinkin' like masons? they drink more than musicians?
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:21am Ike:

DCP, yeah, but almost anything A.T. touches turns to gold. Shmow!
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:23am dcp:

Ike: can do nothing but agree whole-heartedly. Greatest cartoon EVER...I think.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:24am Sugarfly Waterloo:

I find autotune at it's worse when it's used to subtlely adjust the pitch on vocals. I find the unnatural transitions and plateaus grating.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:24am tim from champaign:

My dad's a Mason. Masons drink like lightweights. Now, eating swiss steak dinners, that's another story.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:26am Rev. Turnip Druid:

If you ever meet one, never shake him. Mason jarring is an old tradition but usually someone gets injured...
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:30am Mike East:

nice one, Rev. :)
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:33am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Biosphere track needs a clicky star...!
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:33am berlusconi's nose:

ooooh noooo, i'm getting so sleepyyyyy..
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:33am Cory:

I'm watching video of this mornings Space-X launch with FMU as a soundtrack. it is groovy
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:33am Richard Nixon:

why can't I "Like" the Biosphere song? it has no star next to it
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:34am dcp:

it needs all fields filled out....taptaptaptap
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:35am Ike:

Isn't Biosphere a guy who used to be in Bel Canto? I love Bel Canto.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:35am βrian:

Julianna Barwick is on the isthmus tonight. I may have to stop in.

Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:54am DCE:

Scott, you covered a lot of ground today!
  Fri. 3/1/13 11:55am Lucy:

Damn straight, too much bad weed.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:55am G:

When I see a playlist song already yellow-starred, meaning I starred it a prior time it was played, that's gotta be the FMU equivalent of "heavy request"/"heavy rotation" -- 20 people have already faved that track, and I know I've heard it at least three or four times already... No, NOT tired of it, the opposite...
     Fri. 3/1/13 11:55am 12539:

Scott, I like your show on the days when I catch it. Such as today. Thanks.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:56am G:

I was referring to the Parquet Floors track from 90 minutes ago, oops :)
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:58am Sem Chumbo:

@G: noticed that sudden star as well, same question crossed my mind.
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:58am Scott McDowell:

Thanks for riding the wave, people. Need you next week, dear faithful. :)
Avatar Fri. 3/1/13 11:59am Cory:

it was a great wave to ride, thanks Scott!
Avatar    Fri. 3/1/13 11:59am DCE:

strange, I starred that tune last time I heard it but it didn't show as starred today. So I re-starred it. Stay starred, peeps.
