Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:36am Holly in NC:

Hi Joe & all other friends! Still unpacking, back in 30.
This Yoko song kicks ass!
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:36am Esteban (NJ):

And now...the larch. Wow, Yoko is 80. Crazy.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

Yes, Yoko Ono will bring something different to the table.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:38am Joe McG:

Welcome back, Holly! @Esteban: Yes, can you believe it? Hey, Ken!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:38am KP:

much better test for new headphones.
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:40am Esteban (NJ):

@Joe. I'm feeling old. But I don't want to offend older folks here. CONSIDER THIS: Yoko aged better (and is more relevant) than Kelly LeBrock. /tangent
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:40am Parq:

Three day weekend, son. We can sleep 'til 11 tomorrow without screwing up our sleep pattern for the rest of the week.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:42am Holly in NC:

Yoko is, in all ways, amazing.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:42am Joe McG:

@Parq: Ah, now I see! Hooray for presidents! @Esteban: Kelly LeBrock. She played for the Canucks, right?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:42am Droll:

. o O ( How to tell a tree from a long ways away?!?! )

Holly, Welcome back. Yoko kicks ass? Oh! I see! K and L are right next to each other on the keyboard!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:42am G:

I gotta be in Manhattan by 11 or so to meet people for good Chinatown parade route spots :-) Yoko is blowin' up teh audioz on thishere one.
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:43am Marmalade Kitty:

How can anybody say that Yoko can't sing?
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:45am Esteban (NJ):

With Yoko, it's about atmosphere. She succeeds? Sure, why not.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:46am KP:

From 1971!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:46am G:

@KP: Imagine! :)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:47am KP:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:48am KP:

  Sun. 2/17/13 12:49am Marmalade Kitty:

Happy birthday Meghan & Yoko!
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:50am Esteban (NJ):

DJ DILEMMA: What artist to follow a track by Yoko? ANSWER: ???
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:50am Holly in NC:

Droll - I'm still unpacking, but that was super snarky! I guess we just disagree.
This coming from someone who was allowed to stay home from school due to grief over JL's death.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:50am Droll:

I thought an album side was only about 23 minutes long. Surely this has played longer than all of Tales of Topographical Oceans by now.
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:51am Esteban (NJ):

droll loves Yoko. Don't worry.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:51am Joe McG:

@Esteban: Let's try this...
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:52am KP:

So far, so good ...
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:52am G:

we'll see what happens, gotta log ( i was waiting to see what else could happen on that loko ono ! )
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:53am Esteban (NJ):

@Joe: So far, so good. No "cackling witch" vocals yet, though.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:55am Droll:

Esteban, Yoko does a caterwaul.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:55am Joe McG:

Dub dub, dub dub, dub dub... From trains to sinking ships... glub glub, glub glub, glub glub...
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:56am KP:

G, you know Sean was nice enough to come by FMU and actually do a show for Brian. The place is more blessed than ever.
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:56am Esteban (NJ):

@Droll: damn, you're right. I was going to suggest banshee...what does a banshee do?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:57am Joe McG:

@KP: He liked Ken's velvet painting collection.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:58am Holly in NC:

Given Joe successfully avoided the obvious (Meredith Monk, Diamonda Galas, Patty Waters, Jeanne Lee, etc), I'm impressed!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:58am KP:

I loved the shot of him in front of the Hilary one.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 12:59am Holly in NC:

Banshees kick ass! ;-)
  Sun. 2/17/13 12:59am Esteban (NJ):

"And then the ship sank" — why do I feel like I'm watching a melodrama about a boy from Bristol who plays soccer?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:00am KP:

There was lad from Bristol, footie was his only love. Then the ship sank.
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:00am Esteban (NJ):

@Holly: absolutely. Banshees dominate. And they don't stoop to the mundane level of "screaming", they "scowl", I reckon.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:02am KP:

Is this in honor of these new phones? Pretty wow already.
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:02am Esteban (NJ):

@KP: Precisely. Now I gotta look up the term "footie" :)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:03am KP:

not sure if used correctly, could mean american football to them.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:04am KP:

Knew it was wrong. Aussie rules. Sounds good though.
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:04am Esteban (NJ):

El futbol as far as I'm concerned. I think they call it "American Football" to differentiate the two.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:05am fleep:

@KP What kind phones?
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:10am Esteban (NJ):

Homophones, clearly...
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:11am KP:

Red!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:12am Holly in NC:

BTW, Banshees wail, & keen. Keen is an underutilized word for vocalized grief, I think. I have definitely keened on few occasions where grief was unbearable,
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:13am Holly in NC:

@fleep, have I mentioned how much I love your avatar?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:13am tomB:

upstream fr Veronica Lake?
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:16am Esteban (NJ):

@Holly: Ha! Good to know. I was going to say "weal" (but then I realized that I probably made up the word...it rhymes with squeal, and...that's about it). Wail and keen. Much more dignified.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:16am Holly in NC:

Joe, thanks for Dentists
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:17am Joe McG:

Mon plaisir, Holly!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:18am fleep:

@Holly Thanks I have been a dolphin online since '93. Yikes. Are you still listening under a blanket? .
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:18am KP:

Agreed Holly. Will look into them.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:19am Droll:

keen /kēn/ (n) An Irish funeral song accompanied by wailing in lamentation for the dead.

Amazing the Dentists recorded that in '85! Pretty much a low-point for psychedelic power pop.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:19am tomB:

JM: Before previewing my comment, I had written "Joe McGasko &His Personal Pronouns" in honor of your success in displaying six artists with the same train of mind.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:21am Joe McG:

@tomB: I love it. Just like Dow Jones and the Industrials!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:21am Holly in NC:

@fleep - this is 1st cold night in over week, all cool (ha)
But yes, blankets, yay blankets xo

Good morning
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:28am Holly in NC:

Good morning, Yair.
Merle....
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:29am dknight23:

A set that can go from Yoko to George Jones and Merle Haggard, and work!, makes for great radio. Thanks Joe.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:29am fleep:

@KP Thanks, I'll keep an eye out.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:30am KP:

Kind of intense to hear both back to back on a saturday night/sunday morning.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:30am Holly in NC:

Chasing wayward cats who ran out into icy snow & missed Robyn covering Only Ones! !!!!
!!!
Some sort of weird penance, I guess,
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:33am Esteban (NJ):

@Holly: Dare I say the cats prefer Merle to Robyn? Yes, they do. Good for them.
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:33am Esteban (NJ):

@Holly: Dare I say the cats prefer Merle to Robyn? Yes, they do. Good for them.

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:38am KP:

Paul Wiliams? i would have said Davy Jones.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:39am Joe McG:

@KP: You guessed it! Paul Williams doing his very best Davey Jones impersonation.
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:39am Esteban (NJ):

OK, I didn't anticipate Dragnet...
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:39am KP:

dknight23 you are so right. love hearing real country on FMU. Fake country too.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:40am KP:

I did not guess, sorry to say.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:41am Holly in NC:

@Esteban - I would never dare guess what the beasts prefer musically. They run almost every other aspect of my life, and they've all heard tons, tons of both Merle & Robyn, so.. Dragnet! ;-)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:43am fleep:

mark gutkowski – goodnight (it's getting late, you know)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:44am Joe McG:

@fleep: Do you know anything about him?
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:46am Esteban (NJ):

@H: Fair enough. @Joe: I LOVE THIS SYNTHDISCOPOP (proper genre eludes me). Love it!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:47am Joe McG:

@Esteban: Sylvia talks pillow talk to the robots!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:47am fleep:

@Joe Found something on the 1910 Fruitgum Company

Vocalist Mark Gutkowski had the pitch and timbre that the Super K team felt would be perfect for “Simon Says.”
  Sun. 2/17/13 1:48am Esteban (NJ):

Seriously!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:49am Joe McG:

@fleep: Oh, wow, you're right, it's the 1910 singer going solo! Thanks, fleep!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:55am KP:

Which track was MarK Gutkowski? tHanks
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 1:56am Joe McG:

@KP: That was the first 45, the one on Team (which is a division of Buddah, the bubblegum label).

"goin" to th country {Frumpy}, think I'll dye my hair blue (Missing Persons). Conscious?
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:05am Esteban (NJ):

Of course we remember Missing Persons.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:09am Holly in NC:

What does it mean when someone's name in comment section is bright red, & rest of us are in black or blue (and indeed, what's dif between black & blue)?

Voices carry.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:11am Evil Scientist:

Reds are probably registered users
(or users representing communist threat)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:12am Holly in NC:

Evil Scientist, you are indeed bright red. But I'm registered and a very drab blue I be.
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:13am Esteban (NJ):

ASIDE: All you folks are using fancy computers? I'm on my phone: no color-coded threat levels, no avatars, no nothing...
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:14am Evil Scientist:

@Holly in NC, your nick shows up in red for me. So does my own.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:14am Holly in NC:

@Estaban - switching to my phone in 1 hot minute, where yes, we are all equal
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:16am Esteban (NJ):

  Sun. 2/17/13 2:16am Esteban (NJ):

@Holly: thank you, comrade.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:17am fleep:

This is not a fancy computer. This is a gray computer.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:19am Holly in NC:

Ooh, I think I've figured out! Black = not registered OR using mobile app
Blue - registered users who are "friends"
Red - registered users who aren't yet friends

Maybe?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:19am Evil Scientist:

I don't have internet access on my phone... does my gray computer make me a bourgeoisie who uses colour codes to differentiate between classes?!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:19am KP:

Love these old Vanilla Fudge covers. thnx.
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:20am Esteban (NJ):

@fleep: I hear ya. But, I sneezed during my prior post and accidentally double-posted. @Joe: this is a great song.
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:22am Esteban (NJ):

Red: folks who prefer Yoko Ono to Can.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:24am Holly in NC:

YES. My theory correct. I just friended Evil Scientist, and now he's as drab as the rest of us. Heh Heh, I'm such a good friend...
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:24am Evil Scientist:

But I prefer Can ):
(Musically)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:25am Minnesota Jeff:

If John Lennon were alive today, how many more times would have been married? Obviously he and yoko would have divorced at some point.
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:28am Esteban (NJ):

@Evil: Aha! Red = folks who prefer Can over Tangerine Dream.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:28am KP:

Shadow Morton was from Hicksville, LI. I went to HS there. Wiki also says Elli Greenwich from nearby Levittown was his friend. I'm sort of from both places, as is a guy whose name is never mentioned on these shores.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:29am Joe McG:

@JDM: I'm gettin' hiya just listening to this!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:30am fleep:

I turned all red nicks to blue just by looking at the profile pages.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:30am Evil Scientist:

@Esteban (NJ), that's more like it (:
(How do you "befriend" people?)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:31am fleep:

Dog biscuits, initially, until they follow you home.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:31am KP:

Fleep you are dolphin blue!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:32am Joe McG:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:33am Evil Scientist:

@Esteban, doesn't that only work for the real world?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:34am KP:

I did find a former member of the later Byrds, bassist John York, also went to Hicksville. I traded emails with him about it. Nice to talk to a Byrd.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:35am Holly in NC:

Who don't you mention? Hint?
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:35am Esteban (NJ):

@Evil: probably. Ask Holly...she has fancy computer.
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:36am JDM:

surrounded by tattoo artists for years, I have only natural scars. At 36 years of age, for the first time I thought of a tattoo (drunk), and its WFMU por vida
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:36am Joe McG:

@Holly: His initials are BJ. He doesn't have a Bear.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:38am Holly in NC:

OH! Is a piano man?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:38am KP:

Love Vanilla Fudge, finally saw the reunited original group a while ago. They did a fantastic Some Velvet Morning. To me, as great as the original is, it's the Vanilla Fudge's song, and prob Shadow Morton.
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:39am Esteban (NJ):

Hahahaha. I wouldn't have figured that out, sadly.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:39am KP:

He did have us Humming in an earlier betterer incarnation.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:40am Evil Scientist:

The Group Image were produced by Shadow Morton?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:41am KP:

I saw him play a dance n gym at Hicksville HS. but he played Keith Emerson/Nice type stuff so nobody danced.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:41am Yair Yona:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:41am Holly in NC:

Moving from non fancy Costco laptop to non fancy free phone. Love 'em both.

@Fleep you're right, simply clicking on profile turns people blue. But I'm still friends wiht Evil Scientist ;-)
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:41am Joe McG:

@Evil: Yep, indeed!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:41am Minnesota Jeff:

The answer is 5. John Lennon would be on his fifth wife.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:42am KP:

Yair Yona, so well put.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:43am tomB:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:43am Holly in NC:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:44am KP:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:44am Joe McG:

  Sun. 2/17/13 2:45am Esteban (NJ):

Thanks for NYD. Sadly, I only have the Dolls on cassette...why oh why did I buy albums on tape?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:46am Holly in NC:

@Esteban - because they were portable, remember?
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:46am Esteban (NJ):

Answer: bargain bins.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:46am Yair Yona:

  Sun. 2/17/13 2:47am Esteban (NJ):

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:48am Holly in NC:

OK, here's where you hate me when I confess how much I love Aerosmith's cover... I WAS A KID, DAMMIT!
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:49am tomB:

so if John Lennon lived long enough to divorce, Yoko would have no reason to be loyal. To whom would she be married?
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:49am Joe McG:

@Holly: That was the first version I heard! Night in the Ruts/Right in the Nuts!
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:51am Esteban (NJ):

???!!! Never heard this song. Children of heaven, indeed. Great.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:52am Holly in NC:

@Joe - my seagulls are SO scratched up.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:52am KP:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:53am Holly in NC:

@KP - Walkin' In the Sand.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:53am KP:

Walking in Sand? Yuk!
  Sun. 2/17/13 2:54am Esteban (NJ):

@tom: clearly, Yoko would (should) be with David Byrne. Or Peter Gabriel.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:55am KP:

Getting there, huh. Geat fun. Joe. Thanks.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:55am fleep:

Thanks for a great evening (or morning) Joe
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:55am KP:

Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:57am Minnesota Jeff:

I imagine Yoko marrying some mega rich european eccentric.
Avatar Sun. 2/17/13 2:58am Holly in NC:

@KP - It's very much a time/place thing. If you weren't listening w your best friend over a summer of 6th grade sleepovers, yeah, kinda sucks.
