hi jason
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 6:12am Dave in PA:

Good Stuff!
Fri. 2/15/13 6:26am Timo from Kiel:

Lovely show! Who is Jim Sarkissian... i missed that!
  Fri. 2/15/13 6:27am Berg:

Greetingz Jason, all - finally some sun on this side of the pond..
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 6:28am Deepak:

i could also never appreciate punk, its seems to be an anti thesis of all music, too crude and uninspiring.
  Fri. 2/15/13 6:35am luke:

that jad fair track is nutso
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 6:35am fred:

Good morning Jason and everybody
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 6:37am Jason Elbogen:

Deepak: I have to disagree with you. 98% of punk is imitative crap, but the other two percent is SO crude it IS inspiring! (As opposed to being TOO crude and uninspiring)
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 6:39am Jason Elbogen:

Info about Jim (who was from the Philadelphia area it seems) here:

  Fri. 2/15/13 6:41am Berg:

damn I was about to leave work early and go home but now I just can't, headset glued to my ears..
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 6:42am Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, got here in time for that wild gong thing. Thanks for that.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 6:43am Deepak:

its unappealing to me as a conservative, because its rooted in that leftist anarchist tradition.
Fri. 2/15/13 6:49am Kjell in Mora, Sweden:

What a inspiring show you got here. Thanks a lot — …and right now you said something about Sweden…(syncronicity…)
Fri. 2/15/13 7:05am Carolina in Brazil:

What a pity, George Nibason doesn't exists for google....
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 7:12am Jason Elbogen:

Maybe you spelled it wrong?

...and a Picardy Third from Sister Monica!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:01am Jason Elbogen:

Dave PA,

You're learning me about music! Thanks. Got any opinion on the 'punk/crude' music discussion I was having earlier with Deepak? (scroll up if you weren't here)
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:03am Dave in PA:

I was toggling between circuit simulation software and the playlist - I'll check it out...
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:08am Dave in PA:

I think Deepak hit it on the head with the roots of punk - I can totally see why it wouldn't have appeal. It's not so much art for art's sake but an expression of a sub-population's zeitgeist. It's one of those you had to be there things (in the flesh or at least in spirit) and identify with the mood and the attitude behind it. But then again that's true of rock n roll in general, I think. But it's all too complicated - what was I talking about again?
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:08am fred:

Musically, I don't mind crude/amateurish stuff. Unless when it totally fails, or when it's combined with a pretentious or ironic attitude.
As for political stuff, I can understand Deepak there: I really can't take some of the power electronics scene anymore. I guess I'm too much of a liberal
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:10am Dave in PA:

which BTW is why I love some of the late 60's/early 70's religious folk/rock (or whatever you call it) that you play Jason - I can almost smell the flannelgraph.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:17am fred:

Jason, I agree with the "lame" label, but when I was younger I could tolerate it and wait for the next act or a pleasant surprise. Now the antics of some of the audience and/or the bands make me leave. Sutcliffe Jugend draws some actual extremists sometimes
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:20am fred:

I have to leave for a boring meeting. Lamest power electronics act I endured (briefly, from afar): CON-DOM
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:24am pierre:

Bonjour Jason and friends !
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:24am Dave in PA:

Hmmm not familiar with power electronics - I must have stepped away for that part of the show - I'll have to check it out on the archives...
BTW, what's more punk than John Cage's 4'33"? An assault on the senses, surely?
Fri. 2/15/13 8:29am Carolina in Brazil:

I found it! Thanks!
Fri. 2/15/13 8:34am Carolina in Brazil:

Am I crazy or something in this Yoon Hang Gi track reminds me Nina Simone?
  Fri. 2/15/13 8:36am Kyewon:

Good morning. Jason. How do you feel better than yesterday.Get well!!^^
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:38am Jason Elbogen:

Carolina--I think you're right.

Kyewon--I feel a little better, thanks! Here's a Korean song? Do you know the title maybe?
  Fri. 2/15/13 8:41am Zhivago:

Where did you get that awesome Yoon Hang-Gi?
  Fri. 2/15/13 8:41am Kyewon:

It' kind of Arirang. We have a lot of Arirang.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:42am Sem Chumbo:

Wow, that Korean song is so...martial.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:43am northguineahills:

Hello Jason & FMUers!
  Fri. 2/15/13 8:48am luca:

arirang = mountain pass in korea > fictional meeting place for lovers
  Fri. 2/15/13 8:53am Kyewon:

There are many kind of Arirang. This song is martial but some Arirang is very sad. Arirang is korean sorrow when Korea was poor long time ago or under the Japan.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/13 8:54am Sem Chumbo:

Thank you, Kyewon, for the explanation.
  Fri. 2/15/13 5:28pm Thibault:

Yoon Hang-Gi seems sleepy. Could his song not be played at the appropriate speed? (great final part of the show by the way!)
