I found this on the Zombi 2 soundtrack reissue. I am pretty sure it's Brother Theodore. |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:03pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
loves these soundtrack comps of trailers such as 42nd Street Forever, if only the actual films were as good as their trailers!
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:05pm
Ricardo Montalban:
yes, that's so true! I could watch trailers all night. |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:07pm
listener james from westwood:
holy crap, from across the room i thought, is that the nostromo's siren from alien? and this iirc is from return of the living dead.

Tue. 10/23/12 12:07pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
one I always like is the guy coming out of the movie theatre, and has gone mental from the film he has just seen. I can't remember the film title it is for?
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:07pm
listener james from westwood:
yess! good for 200 points. select again, contestant!

Tue. 10/23/12 12:09pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
Dawn of the dead is perhaps the greatest zombie movie - discuss!
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:10pm
Ricardo Montalban:
No argument there. I walked out of the theater watching the horrible remake. |

Yeh Ric, | |

Tue. 10/23/12 12:15pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
Shawn of the dead is perhaps a more fitting tribute than the remake of the same name.
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:16pm
listener james from westwood:
have any recent horror remakes exceeded or even equalled the originals? "the omen" kinda fell flat a few years back, and i didn't hear much about the "thing" remake.
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:17pm
listener james from westwood:
you beat me to it, bongo; was gonna cite "shaun" as one of the better groundbreakers of the last 10 yrs.

Tue. 10/23/12 12:18pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
worst remake is probably The Wicker man remake! If that not the worst which one is?
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:19pm
Carmichael:
Phantasm was one of my all-time faves. Scared the hell out of me as a teen.
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:19pm
Ricardo Montalban:
Hi northguineahills! |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:19pm
Doug S.:
I live about 10 miles from the Monroeville Mall where "Dawn of the Dead" was filmed. The "town" of Monroeville is pretty just a series of strip malls along one multi-lane road. Creepy as hell.
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:20pm
Ricardo Montalban:
I refuse to watch that! Wicker man is one of my all time favorite movies. My wife watched it and I had to walk through the living room with my fingers in my ears and my eyes closed like a four year old. (her words) |
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:20pm
Ricardo Montalban:
Cool! I'd love to see that Doug. Does that mall still exist? |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:21pm
northguineahills:
Talking about scary, I was just cutting up some Scotch bonnet peppers, and even though I vigorously scrubbed my hands, I still feel the after effects after using the loo.
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:21pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
yeh Carmaichael, loved all 4 movies, the creepy tall guy, the flying ball blades, the little munchkins with brain transplants that I seem to think were in a Neil Young Live concert film. (I digress alot, must be my second brain!)
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:22pm
northguineahills:
I'm w/ you Rich. Wicker Man is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I refuse to see the "remake".
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:23pm
Ricardo Montalban:
@ northguineahills. I hate that! Or accidently touching your eyes after a jalapeno binge. |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:23pm
listener james from westwood:
can't beat those original casts, practical special fx, or the soundtracks.

Tue. 10/23/12 12:25pm
listener james from westwood:
i think wm. berger opens his show w the phantasm theme.
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:25pm
Doug S.:
A place called "The Monroeville Mall" still exists. I don't know if it is exactly the same edifice as the site Romero used for the film.
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:25pm
Ricardo Montalban:
yeah, I've seen something like that. I think it's tied into the remake. |
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:26pm
Ricardo Montalban:
@ Doug: I'll bet there's whole web pages devoted to locations of DotD. I should check it out, especially if I get to visit the area. |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:28pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
did'nt think much either to The Crazies remake.
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:30pm
Ricardo Montalban:
I STILL haven't seen the original Crazies. Maybe I did many many years ago. I can't remember. |

|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:35pm
Ricardo Montalban:
I'm leaning heavily on this comp, as I found it too late last year to include much of it in my Halloween show. |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 12:36pm

Hola Ricardo! re Bryan Gregory: it was around this time of the year that The Cramps would crawl out from whatever hole they were living in all year and do their annual Halloween show here in LA. I miss Lux...
|
Tue. 10/23/12 1:01pm
listener james from westwood:
what i loved most about the gate was the stop-motion animation of those little devil guys.

|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 1:04pm
Ricardo Montalban:
Fab, I don't know how you keep the frantic, insane music blogging going. It's almost criminal that you don't do radio. |
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 1:05pm
Ricardo Montalban:
I recommend listeners check out the aptly named Music For Maniacs: musicformaniacs.blogspot.com/ |

@THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND: I am more or less remake intolerant. I just can't do it. Especially movies I love (TCM being one of them). |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 1:07pm
MrFab:

I obsessively sleuthed to find out what this piece was, after having it on a taped radio show many many years ago. I just found out about two years ago. The whole Tellus series is pretty amazing. |
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 1:23pm
Ricardo Montalban:
It's on my to-do list to someday do a huge Cramps and Cramps-related show. I did do a fairly large Cramps tribute show the week that Lux passed away. I didn't get to see them too many times but they were such a favorite of mine. Sigh! We miss you, Lux! |
|
Tue. 10/23/12 1:24pm
MrFab:
"All Tore Up" is actually the Cramps album I've listened to the most over the years. Incredible that it's never gotten an official release. (thx for the shout-out to my blog Rich!)

Tue. 10/23/12 2:02pm
THE INCREDIBLE BONGO FURY BAND:
Rich, Don't think there will ever be an Oldboy remake after the furore/massacre that many blamed on the movie? Saying that should never have been Ring remake, let the right one in remake was also pretty lame-the only time I have seen a blonde vampire (except for Kiefer Sutherlnad great vamp in Lost Boys).
|
|
Tue. 10/23/12 2:06pm
Ricardo Montalban:
I can't believe I STILL haven't seen Oldboy and I think it's one of the first movies I put on my Netflix queue. |
